A game-breaking bug in Indiana Jones and the Last Circle is stopping players from progressing and finishing the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle achievements. It's been a little over six weeks now since MachineGames' excellent Xbox action-adventure game launched, but a major bug that halts all progress is still causing issues.

Indiana Jones and The Great Circle The Blessed Pearl bug needs fixing ASAP

  • Players are encountering a game-breaking bug in Indiana Jones and The Great Circle's The Blessed Pearl mission
  • The bug stops Indiana Jones from being able to climb ladders and vines and crawl through small gaps
  • Machine Games is apparently aware of the issue
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a fantastic game and one of my favorites from last year, but a bug in The Blessed Pearl story mission on Sukhothai has meant that I can no longer make any progress, and it seems that a lot of other players are encountering this issue, too.

The bug, which is a strange one, stops everyone's favorite world-famous archaeologist from being able to block, climb vines and ladders, and squeeze through small gaps. Annoyingly, this only occurs on the Sukhothai level, and during a specific section of The Blessed Pearl mission, Indiana Jones is required to squeeze through a small gap in a cave to continue the mission. Due to what happens during this mission, this part of the level is siloed from the rest of Sukhothai, which means you can't get back to the open area of the game. Essentially, you are trapped there, and while you can use fast travel to go back to a different location, the bug will follow you, and Indiana Jones still won't be able to use ladders or shimmy through a crack in a wall.

It's an incredibly frustrating bug to encounter, and I've had to put the game down until MachineGames rolls out a fix. While the developer has included an option to rollback your save and load a previous instance of the game, for me, two out of three save files are hindered by the issue, and loading up the third would mean losing several hours of progress, including all the time I spent hunting down collectibles in the labyrinth under the streets of Vatican City.

According to a post on Reddit, MachineGames has acknowledged the issue and says the bug is linked to the character Sunan and possibly the Lost in the Past side quest. It seems that when you finish the fieldwork and hand over the golden hook to Sunan to complete the quest, there is an easily-missable prompt to talk to Sunan one final time. If you do interact with Sunan here, Indy won't lose the ability to use ladders and shimmy through gaps. However, if you miss this and carry on with The Blessed Pearl, you'll likely find yourself stuck on the mission with no way out.

If you have encountered this bug and are lucky, you may have a save you can roll back to and visit Sunan to properly complete Lost in the Past. If, like me, you don't have a save (or at least one that means you won't lose hours of progress), you're stuck until MachineGames puts out a patch.

It's been six weeks since Indiana Jones and the Great Circle launched, and aside from this progress-blocking bug, there are plenty of other issues that still need to be addressed. Many are having problems with handing over radio frequencies to Gina, the cog wheel puzzle, and other collectibles. I understand that the holiday break has likely impacted how quickly MachineGames can get out a patch, but I really hope the developer rolls out an update soon because I can't wait to get stuck back in.

Have you come across this bug? Are you also struggling with radio frequencies and other collectibles? Perhaps you're a player who has missed some of the easiest Indiana Jones and the Great Circle achievements? Let us know down in the comments.
