Splitgate to remain online "through the end of 2024" but next year is "unknown" 1047 Games says the Splitgate servers will remain online "through the end of 2024" but is unsure what will happen to the free-to-play shooter in 2025.Sean Carey Published 19 Jul 2024 FollowtopicsSplitgate1047 GamesOnline MultiplayerFree to PlayXbox Series X|SFirst Person ShooterSean Carey If you're yet to unlock all the Splitgate achievements, you may want to get a move on as it sounds like the Splitgate servers could be shut down at some point next year, putting an end to the free Xbox game. Splitgate servers to remain online for nowBack in 2022, developer 1047 Games announced it was ending new feature development on Splitgate and focusing its efforts on a new game. Recently, the studio confirmed that Splitgate 2 will launch for Xbox in 2025, offering even more portal-based multiplayer action. However, this raises questions about what will happen to the original Splitgate, and as it turns out, 1047 Games isn't quite sure. In an FAQ post, 1047 Games explains that it has no plans to shut down the servers for Splitgate and that you will still be able to play the game "through the end of 2024." However, it says what will happen to the game next year is unknown. "We know that it is common to kill the servers of the previous version of a game when a new one comes out," says 1047 Games. "We know why companies do this. We currently have no plans to shut down the servers or end basic support for the original Splitgate. You will be able to play Splitgate through the end of 2024. What we do with Splitgate next year is, to be completely honest, unknown to us right now."While a server closure hasn't been officially announced, you may want to get cracking with the Splitgate achievements just to be on the safe side. To me, it seems unlikely that 1047 Games will want to split the Splitgate player base between two games once the sequel does launch, so shutting down the old game for the new, shinier version is a no-brainer. If you are thinking about going for the completion, the 1,000G is estimated to take between 200 and 300 hours — this is largely down to the 1047 achievement, which requires you to win a whopping 1,047 matches.
