If like us you have fond memories of playing the original Battlefront games during the early 2000s, then have we got some good news for you: Aspyr is reviving the original Star Wars Battlefront games for modern consoles.

As announced via the recent Nintendo Direct — which also confirmed the first two Xbox exclusive games heading to Nintendo Switch — Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection will launch on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One on March 14. If you fancy a good hit of nostalgia next month, the Xbox store has the collection priced at $34.99 / £29.24 / €34.99, but preordering will add a 10% discount. If you already own either of the original games on Xbox, you'll be able to take advantage of a 20% loyalty discount instead.

We don't have the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection achievements just yet, but we'll let you know when they arrive.

2004's Star Wars Battlefront and 2005's Star Wars Battlefront II return with their bonus maps via the Classic Collection, which includes Jabba's Palace, Bespin: Cloud City, Rhen Var: Harbor, Rhen Var: Citadel, and Yavin 4: Arena, as well as Asajj Ventress and Kit Fisto bonus characters.

By the looks of IT, everything found in the original games will be returning, including online servers for 64-player battles in the Galactic Conquest mode, which pits the Empire, Rebellion, and Republic forces against one another. That means we can relive our fond memories of blasting across maps as a Jet Trooper and annihilating ground forces in an X-Wing!

On top of that, we can play through both games' single-player campaigns, and Aspyr has upgraded the Hero Assault mode so we can play on every ground map, including the Death Star.

While I enjoyed the Star Wars Battlefront remakes, they don't capture the same excitement I felt when playing the originals way back when. Sure, the shooter genre is flooded with fantastic games now — just check out some of the best FPS games on Xbox — so it's only natural that some of the excitement has fizzled out in recent years. With that said, I'm hoping these classics will stoke the flames of nostalgia enough to provide many hours of intergalactic fun!
