Xbox Top 40 Games — new co-op game Split Fiction lands launch

Amongst the top 40 Xbox games, Split Fiction's debut has been a huge success. Coming from the developer of the co-op title It Takes Two, is it any surprise?

It's great to see that, amongst the top 40 Xbox games, Split Fiction's debut has been a definitive success! Using our exclusive GameTrends data from over 3.1 million Xbox Live accounts (from a dataset extending beyond TrueAchievements players), we have a good idea of how the latest co-op game from Joseph Fares-led developer Hazelight stacks up against the other popular games over the last week.

The TrueAchievements writing squad and I firmly believe that Split Fiction developer Hazelight has already made one of the best Xbox games, but the team seems to have done it again with rave reviews and players loving the game. That's been reflected in its popularity on debut, with Split Fiction landing in the #29 position amongst the top 40 most popular games right now.
As I'm sure many of you who check in with the chart every week already know, the chart is dominated by Xbox Game Pass and free-to-play live-service games. So, for any 'premium' game (an exclusively paid-for title) to debut in our top 40 is a great sign that it's performing well. Its Game of the Year-winning co-op brother, It Takes Two, didn't even debut amongst the top 40 Xbox games when it released, for example.

So, great news for Split Fiction! The other debut this week is for One Lonely Outpost from Xbox Game Pass March 2025's Wave One is in position #33. It's great to see the little farming game doing well, especially amongst other big games grabbing all the attention like the aforementioned Split Fiction and Capcom's blockbuster release of Monster Hunter Wilds.

So, these are my highlights from the data this week. Make sure you take a look at Monster Hunter Wilds rising through the ranks, too, as we begin assessing whether it deserves a spot amongst the best Xbox RPGs. Without further ado, here are the top 40 Xbox games for the week ending March 9, 2025!
