Players collecting the State of Decay 2 achievements only have one more update to look forward to, as Undead Labs is ending support for State of Decay 2. The team will instead focus its attention on its upcoming Xbox zombie game, State of Decay 3.

Undead Labs is moving its focus to State of Decay 3

As announced on the State of Day blog, Undead Labs won't be adding any new content to State of Decay 2 after rolling out Update 38 later this year. The team says State of Decay 2 will continue to be available for the foreseeable future and the Bounty Broker's packs will continue to cycle like normal, but the team won't be working on the game anymore.

We don't know when Update 38 will roll out, but Undead Labs says it will feature a host of bug fixes to address some "longstanding issues," as well as quality-of-life improvements and the addition of seasonal and previously gated content added to the world, such as Winter Outfits and the Wizard Van. The content will be added to the pool of lootable items you can find while scavenging.

"We know you love this world we’ve created and the amazing community you’ve helped build," Undead Labs says. "While you’ve enjoyed State of Decay 2 for many years, you may have heard that we are also hard at work on the next evolution of the franchise! Our ambition is to make the greatest zombie survival sim in the franchise, and to do so, we’ll be shifting our focus and resources to making the upcoming third installment, State of Decay 3."

We'll hopefully start learning more about the sequel once the team has a chance to fully focus on it, offering us more goodies to add to our article filled with everything we know about State of Decay 3.

Thanks, Claypool64, for the news tip!
