Season 7 will bring various improvements and changes, but the key parts are Xbox achievement fixes for Age of Empires 4, meaning things should run more smoothly with the Age of Empires IV: Anniversary Edition achievements, and the addition of cross-play for consoles and PC, raising the stakes even higher for one of the best Xbox Game Pass games.

The Age of Empires team shares the Season Seven Update Preview

A key bit of the update preview is the part about changes to achievements, challenges, and masteries. The two achievements in particular which seem to be affected are Through the Ages (for advancing to the next Age 500 times) and Transcontinental Empire (for winning 20 matches as the Ottomans). According to this update preview, the Age of Empires team has "Fixed a bug where building extra landmarks to activate dynasties as the Chinese was being counted as aging up for the achievement 'Through the Ages'" and fixed another bug "where the 'Transcontinental Empire' achievement was not properly displaying progress."

Age of Empires 4 does still have one discontinued achievement, Having a Blast (for destroying five enemies with one Demolition Ship detonation). However, TrueAchievements member Spay001 created a forum post on the Age of Empires site to which one dev responded to say that a fix is "coming soon."

The other key part is that cross-play will be available, so that you can "join your console and PC friends and adversaries on the battlefield with cross-play," and that Team Ranked mode will also be available on console. In other "Age of" news, meanwhile, Age of Mythology Retold finally got an Xbox Game Pass release window!
