Microsoft has now unveiled the first wave of games leaving Xbox Game Pass in December 2024. Forza Horizon 4, Rise of the Tomb Raider, The Quarry, Amnesia: The Bunker, Forager, Tin Hearts, Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan, Lego 2K Drive, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle Special Edition, Close to the Sun, Humankind, McPixel 3, and Party Animals will all drop out of Xbox Game Pass on either December 15 or December 31. Here's hoping the next batch of games coming to Game Pass is a good one because there are some heavy losses here.

Update:
In an unprecedented move, Microsoft has now announced all the games leaving Xbox Game Pass in December 2024. In total, 13 games will drop out of Game Pass this month, including Lego 2K Drive, McPixel 3, and Party Animals.

Interestingly, Hello Neighbor 2 is no longer down to leave Game Pass, according to the latest Xbox Wire post and the Game Pass app, so we've removed it from our list. You can find the full and updated list of Game Pass leavers below.

Games leaving Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass in December 2024

Earlier this year, Microsoft announced it was delisting Forza Horizon 4 and removing the Xbox racer from the Game Pass library. That time is now upon us, with Forza Horizon 4 being removed from the Microsoft Store and Game Pass on December 15. Unfortunately, the racing game already has five discontinued achievements, so if you're missing those, you won't be able to get the completion.
Another big game dropping out of Game Pass on December 15 is Rise of the Tomb Raider, which, sadly, has two partly discontinued/unobtainable achievements. According to forum posts, players are seeing luck with these achievements when playing the game using Xbox Cloud Gaming, so take note, Game Pass Ultimate subscribers.

A completion for Rise of the Tomb Raider, excluding DLC packs, will take between 40 and 50 hours — check out the Rise of the Tomb Raider walkthrough for more on how to nab the 1,000G. For the PC gamers out there, there is a separate Windows stack of Rise of the Tomb Raider achievements available.

According to estimates, unlocking all 40 of The Quarry achievements will take between 40 and 50 hours. Out of those 40 achievements, 22 have been flagged as missable, and due to the nature of the horror-adventure game, you will need multiple playthroughs to pop them all. For a helping hand with the 1,000G, give our The Quarry walkthrough a read. There is also an Xbox One-specific stack of achievements available for The Quarry.

As for Amnesia: The Bunker, a completion here will take around ten hours if you include its free Halloween title update. Amnesia: The Bunker has a couple of interesting achievements: Toot Sweet, which asks you to complete the game faster than all developers at Frictional, and Got It In One, which requires beating the game without saving.

Management game Forager has 23 achievements that will take between 40 and 50 hours to unlock. However, if you follow our Forager walkthrough, you should be able to finish this one in 15 to 20 hours — most of that time will be spent hunting down collectibles and accumulating 1,000,000,000,000 coins.

Estimates suggest unlocking all 39 Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan achievements will take between 15 and 20 hours. During your playthrough, keep an eye out for numerous missable achievements peppered throughout the action-adventure — the majority are for flawlessly completing mini-games.
Sadly, Tin Hearts does have one discontinued achievement, so if you've not yet played this one, the completion will be out of reach. As a result of that discontinued achievement, the puzzle game's PlayStation platinum-style achievement is partly discontinued/unobtainable.

When it comes to the December 31 Game Pass leavers, action-adventure title Close to the Sun has the shortest completion estimate, coming in at around four hours. The 1,000G, for the most part, is pretty straightforward, but you will need to beat the game in under three hours and complete it without dying — for more on the completion check out the Close to the Sun walkthrough.

BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle Special Edition has a short completion estimate of around eight hours. However, its achievement list and the fact that it's a fighting game that will require some skill suggests the 1,000G will be pretty tough to crack.

McPixel is a favorite among those who like to keep their daily achievement streak going. With its 93 achievements that are all mostly easy to unlock, a completion here will take between eight and ten hours.

As for Lego 2K Drive, unlocking all 38 of its achievements is quite a tedious task. While most of the achievement list is straightforward and pretty fun, the 6K Drive achievement, which tasks you with driving 6,000 miles, is quite the bore. Overall, it will take between 60 and 80 hours for the 1,000G

Party Animals is probably the hardest completion out of all the December 31 leavers. Thanks to numerous title updates, and achievements that require other players, the TA ratio for this one is massive. If you are going for the completion before the end of the month, you'll need to set aside around 110 hours.

Finally, for Humankind, we can't give you a completion estimate as it has five unobtainable achievements and one discontinued achievement.

Microsoft has also now confirmed the Xbox Game Pass lineup for December 2024. Do you need to finish any of these games before they leave the service? Let us know down in the comments.
