Requirements :
1 - Host must select the challenge
2 - Host must pick up the artifacts
3 - Players 1 & 2 have to stay together in each crypt
4 - Optional : Don't pick up small artifacts - only run for this achievement (took us 2-3 days)
5 - Stop at exactly 5 (no more !) - For us, we had a mix of 3 medium and 2 larges
6 - Host trigger the rescue fire. both must escape.

Followed your specs except I did grab a few small artifacts, and our final total was 4 medium & 1 large. Thumb up!

This worked awesome (3 medium and 2 large), coop player waited outside the cave, once i got the artifact, he killed some food for me outside, once i got to entrance he went running to find the next one (we both split up to search.). So dont need to start together in the crypt, but might need to stay close by.

5 medium and 1 large, but both still got it when we followed your steps above. (We did pick up small artifacts and we did not stay together in crypts)

I'm sorry to say this did not work for me and my partner.
-He was host
-He had Adventure Besties challenge selected
-He picked up all medium & large artifacts (2 medium, 3 large)
-We did all crypts together
-We both picked up small artifacts (20 small in total)
-He signaled the fire
-Both of us escaped

We only used the toxicity card, got killed one time each, went home on day 5.
We intentionally avoided the Tomb Raider card because I read somewhere that it messes with the medium artifacts that grants the abilities the Tomb Raider card already granted. This achievement is horrible. How come it hasn't been marked "buggy"?

At last we managed to get this sucker! What we did apart from following this solution was to make sure no other challenges that we selected required an escape. I don't know if that was the problem all along or just plain luck but feel free to add it if you wish. I'm gonna upvote this solution anyway since this is the closest thing to a perfect solution for this dreadful achievement

This still works, great guide this saves a lot of time and unnecessary frustration. We stopped at exactly 5 artifacts (4 medium, 1 large, 0 small). This worked first time for me and my partner following the other steps

Picking up small artifacts doesn't affect the achievement...

We had 5 medium, 3 large and about 25 small...
