This achievement is story-related and can't be missed. It will unlock once you complete the prologue area.

Edit: Looks like the day one patch may have created a bug for this achievement, as it unlocked without any issues during the 10-hour early trial (played before official release).

Edit 2: As seen in comments below, it looks like this achievement (and others) are at least partially bugged. I earned this during the early trial period without any issues, playing on Normal using a custom character.

It popped for me when I reloaded an autosave at the beginning of nexus and played to that part again in 5 min. you should have this auto-save as well. good luck!

I found that this doesn't unlock along with a few other achievements if you don't allow your game to connect to EA servers before you click Resume / Load etc. Mine didn't connect on one gaming session and I missed about 2-3 achievements along with acquiring no further action on the hardball / terminator etc even though I had killed loads. So I will have to do them achievements when I do the Insanity Playthrough
eljayohGlitched for me currently. I completed the opening planet, progressed a couple hours past that and unlocked Initiate, but this one is still locked.

feel the pain23Guys, the achievements will not unlock if wither of the following is done, the game is played on the first two difficultly settings. Make sure it's on casual, and do not pick a custom character. Pick the preset character, and pick casual. They will unlock. I have tried and tested this. They do not unlocking unless you pick a preset character and have it on at least casual.

This Cheevo just unlocked with no glitches etc.

HolyHalfDeadThis isn't the achievement you get after completing the prologue area, which is:
Mass Effect: AndromedaFirst ContactThe First Contact achievement in Mass Effect: Andromeda worth 10 pointsLand on an alien planet.
You won’t get this achievement until you have completed Chapter 1: Planetfall on Habitat 7 (the Planetside Priority Ops mission).

The achievement should unlock after you wake up on the Hyperion, just before the cut scene with the Kett arriving at the Mega-structure. If it doesn't unlock you can reload an earlier Autosave - but that has to be done before they are overwritten.

fighterx93chippMine unlocked after the cutscene where you become pathfinder. Not sure if it’s glitched still or if I got lucky
