This achievement requires you to wander in the desert midday. Many players have had luck in the Great Sand Sea. It might take 5-10 minutes of running around before you start experiencing any hallucinations, and after that you'll have to keep wandering around until you get the right one - raining bugs! Once you see the scarab beetles raining down around you the achievement or trophy will pop (but it might take a few seconds after the hallucination finishes)!
Captain Chao5+1 for Great Sand Sea. Worked for me.

DeathDealingCatTheDude722, two hours?! I saw/heard six of the ones you mentioned I think. Glad it eventually appeared for you!
Posted by DeathDealingCat on 30 Oct 17 at 23:06
TheDude722yeah, it was fun to see some of them, but I could have lived without them if the scarabs showed up earlier, haha.... the flaming meteor was nice though
Posted by TheDude722 on 31 Oct 17 at 00:43
VoodooInfinityI can confirm this is pure luck then, I rode from Alexandria back to Siwa across the desert in Qattara Depression. Shortly after crossing the border into Siwa I had my first hallucination, the Raining Bugs one.
Posted by VoodooInfinity on 31 Oct 17 at 05:41
TheDude722I had to run around Great Sand Sea for 2 hours before finally getting scarab storm. But during that time, I had seen 16 different other mirages though, with varying frequency.

MassiveAssault5Spent 45 mins running around the desert near Lake Mariotis with no luck. Spent 5 mins running around Great Sand Sea and got it
Posted by MassiveAssault5 on 02 Nov 17 at 04:54
Mazter0fPuppetzI can confirm that riding your horse/camel will still trigger hallucinations as that's what just happened with me. I was riding in the Desheret Desert and then I saw a flopping fish... I the proceeded onward and then a sand storm hit after that it started raining scarabs and then the achievement unlocked!
Posted by Mazter0fPuppetz on 05 Nov 17 at 04:24
Teh ShadowManGame equivalent of 2 days running through the great sand sea. Funniest thing I saw was denying seeing my dead self but the burning bush was pretty awesome
Posted by Teh ShadowMan on 05 Nov 17 at 06:51
AussieBigfootGot this earlier, in the 1st Act (when you're restricted to just Siwa), while travelling on foot from the stone circle (star gazing puzzle) to where the opening fight scene took place.
Posted by AussieBigfoot on 05 Nov 17 at 20:36
xDaffI've still yet to get this, and I've put at least 6 hours into running around various deserts, and I still haven't gotten it. Have seen every other hallucination, but this one just isn't happening...
Posted by xDaff on 09 Nov 17 at 09:49
TheDude722keep the faith xDaff. right after I saw it for the first time, the next time I entered a desert, I saw it again! it will happen eventually
Posted by TheDude722 on 09 Nov 17 at 12:28
xDaffFinally got it, roamed the desert for an hour and it finally happened! I was in the Khensu Nome area, and I had 6 hallucinations within 5 minutes of being in the area. Dunno if that helps, but may do for someone who's at their wits end like I was.
Posted by xDaff on 09 Nov 17 at 22:01
DeathDealingCatxDaff, wow...props to you for putting 7+ hours into this! Thanks for commenting where you finally were able to pop it!
Posted by DeathDealingCat on 09 Nov 17 at 23:11
The SCHWARTZ 00Got it in the patch of desert on my way to Giza, and I'm only a level 23 at this point. Takes a minute for it to pop, got kinda worried after the hallucination ended and it didn't pop immediately.
Posted by The SCHWARTZ 00 on 10 Nov 17 at 00:35
DillionDayRan around the desert FOREVER. I've never been so happy to see some bugs fall out the sky!
Posted by DillionDay on 10 Nov 17 at 21:18
StepkakaI saw it 2 times, no achievements... i guess i have to say bye bye to 1000G
Posted by Stepkaka on 11 Nov 17 at 16:11
The DethdefyerI can confirm that you don't have to be moving for a mirage to pop up. You can just be sat idle in the desert and they will appear at random intervals.
Posted by The Dethdefyer on 11 Nov 17 at 21:10
TheDude722Stepkaka, are you sure you saw the scarabs? or might it have been the locusts flying around?
Posted by TheDude722 on 11 Nov 17 at 21:44
StepkakaThere is something else that scarabs that come out of clouds ?
Posted by Stepkaka on 12 Nov 17 at 10:56
MidnitePLI've done this achievement on first 10 minutes gameplay south-east from Siwa. Just run in full sun about 3 minutes. Remember, you can't run into shadows - full sun only.
Posted by MidnitePL on 12 Nov 17 at 12:07
Calex dEUS2 hours for me, had every other one multiple times over , finally popped as I crossed into Iment Nome from Khensu. I really don't think the location matters as long as it's desert and sand. I did notice they would start when the sun is in the south east until it gets to the south west.
Posted by Calex dEUS on 12 Nov 17 at 12:58
Muddy GrundyI literally got this as my first hallucination, Lady Luck was on my side.
Posted by Muddy Grundy on 12 Nov 17 at 17:26
v Patt xThis is frustrating me so much. Tried to get the achievement in 3 different places and seen every other hallucination apart from the one I want! facepalm
Posted by v Patt x on 13 Nov 17 at 13:44
Sn1p3r x LT x11 hours but I finally got it. I hate random reliant achievements.
Posted by Sn1p3r x LT x on 14 Nov 17 at 20:58
ROM3LI feel bad for you guys having to try for hours for this. It was pretty fast for me, took about 5mins holding the two sticks together to run in circles and it worked. First I saw shootings stars then like a min after that beetles started falling from the sky.
Posted by ROM3L on 15 Nov 17 at 17:49
ZaBettsI finally got this! Spent 2 hours running around Iment Nome to then try idling for 6 hours in Giza. Finally came back and idled in Iment Nome for about an hour and I got it.
Posted by ZaBetts on 15 Nov 17 at 18:24
THOR4205"Quick or lucky"?!?! Took about 3 minutes.

I wandered from the south of "Uab Nome" from the "Camp of Qetesh & Resheph" into the "Desheret Desert" at midday.

I set my sights on the location to the southwest pretty much right in the middle of the desert (below the "S" and "E" in the word "Desert").

I was about 1100m out and decided that I would WALK SLOW (as if I really were overheating by walking through a desert). One...foot...in...front...of...the...other. I started hallucinating almost immediately. By the time I was 800m from the location, I was having my 6th hallucination. Raining bugs!!!

About 10 seconds after the 'rainstorm' stopped, the achievement popped! Happy overheating.

MustangNightsGreat sand sea worked for me first try

SnipersportI had the hallucination happen but never received the achivement. Rip my goals
Posted by Snipersport on 05 Dec 17 at 03:55
MootSweatStood still in the Great Sand Sea and got it under 15 minutes. Had no luck anywhere else after several hours trying.
Posted by MootSweat on 07 Dec 17 at 15:43
fadedninja77Just to add, rubber banded in the Great Sand Sea. Took about 15 minutes. Heard water sounds and locusts buzzing around before the beetles came.
Posted by fadedninja77 on 07 Dec 17 at 19:22
imoneoldfartis it beetles or raining locust? i got raining locust but no achievement.
Posted by imoneoldfart on 26 Dec 17 at 17:00
TheDude722You want Scarab beetles falling from the sky and dropping on the sand. The locusts only fly around all over.
Posted by TheDude722 on 26 Dec 17 at 19:50
AKfoy0facejust popped and I have no idea what this achievement was for lol, ive only been playing a few hours
Posted by AKfoy0face on 27 Dec 17 at 01:34
sjpsjpsjpI walked around for about 40 minutes (in part to help track up the 'Triathelete' achievement) - went through two game days/nights, and when I finally stood still it the scarabs started falling within about 2 minutes. Typical. laugh
Posted by sjpsjpsjp on 03 Jan 18 at 20:57
UngroTotally can confirm that the Great Sand Sea works by just standing there for less than about 3 minutes, I have ran around forever in the past and tried to get the achievement and it turned out to be so simple lmao
Posted by Ungro on 04 Jan 18 at 20:13
MiZ Dove OGThis solution worked perfectly for me. I just went to Iment Nome, 443m SW of Temple of Sekhment in Yamo. Stood in the desert and got lucky with the 3rd hallucination being the raining bugs. Thank you!
Posted by MiZ Dove OG on 10 Jan 18 at 18:44
SearcyadPerfect. Standing still for five minutes in the Great Sand Sea.
Posted by Searcyad on 11 Jan 18 at 04:47
Rossco7530Definitely seemed to get more hallucinations while walking slowly (rather than running) but who knows...
Posted by Rossco7530 on 12 Jan 18 at 13:54
TophertaniumThe scarabs starting falling as a sandstorm hit. Then got killed by some bandits before the hallucination stopped. No achievement. Trying again later with some of the other pointers. Going to try the Great Sea first.
Posted by Tophertanium on 12 Jan 18 at 23:43
Moozipan CheeseThis must have taken a good half an hour to trigger. Very boring, but it did finally happen. As others have said, don't confuse this with the similar locust swarm hallucination, which I actually got very early on in the game right after the prologue.
Posted by Moozipan Cheese on 21 Jan 18 at 16:01
FalensaranoPretty sure I’ve seen this twice now with no achievement. Anyone know any work arounds?

Edit: when I logged back in the following day, this unlocked as the game was loading in. For info in case this happens to you.
Posted by Falensarano on 21 Jan 18 at 22:00
SwAGgyC24Tried walking all over great sand sea for about an hour read some of the comments below to just stand there stood there for about 10 minutes and BAM it rained it popped and i was happy
Posted by SwAGgyC24 on 22 Jan 18 at 23:42
SlabbaSo glad to be done with this achievement. Took ages for the beetles to trigger. It seemed to be as rare as the meteor for me (which I only saw once as well). I was in the Great Sand Sea when it finally triggered.
Posted by Slabba on 27 Jan 18 at 21:54
savedbyjc12Also confirm: I stood in the Great Sand Sea for no more than 5 minutes, didn't move. Popped for me. Just stand there, do some homework, watch some YouTube, make some brownies. It'll pop eventually. Also, they must get finished 'raining' for you to get the achievement.
Posted by savedbyjc12 on 27 Feb 18 at 03:08
gpriby1025Just got this in the Great Sands. Took less than 5 mins for me. First rained fish, then the bugs.
Posted by gpriby1025 on 21 Mar 18 at 03:24
neeker75Unbelievable! Great Sand Sea, first ever hallucation in the game, achievement pops!
Posted by neeker75 on 06 Apr 18 at 00:55
Achieve all dayIf you want to add an earlier option as the Great Sand Sea is a level 36-40 area, the un-named giant stretch of desert between the Iment Nome (6-8) and Khensu Nome (13-15) is where I found the scarab-rain.
Posted by Achieve all day on 19 Apr 18 at 02:18
ResidentialEvilI've been trying for 2 hours, and I'm pretty sure I've seen every other known hallucination at least twice. This is a terrible achievement.
Posted by ResidentialEvil on 21 Apr 18 at 20:48
Jadj0Yeah for real. RNG achievements can fuck right off.
Posted by Jadj0 on 21 Apr 18 at 22:27
JakThaRiPP3R84great sand sea, took a while but wasn't too bad.
Posted by JakThaRiPP3R84 on 22 Apr 18 at 04:54
TONI III04I was in the great sand sea and had the first halucination nearly immediately after around 30 seconds (flower). the raining bugs was second, around half a minute later.
Posted by TONI III04 on 23 May 18 at 12:10
TophertaniumI had a sandstorm come on, then scarabs started raining. I wandered into a high level camp (I was level 2) and got killed while it was still raining. No achievement and haven’t seen them since.
Posted by Tophertanium on 22 Jun 18 at 02:39
Apostle92627I got the achievement after a few minutes of wandering from Siwa to the Great Sand Sea to the White Desert. clap

XSniperNinjaXHi so this around MID day in game time YES ? how do i know what the time is in game ? i wait for 1 hour and nothing lol
Posted by XSniperNinjaX on 21 Aug 18 at 15:58
DeathDealingCatXSniperNinjaX, just look up and make sure the sun is shining bright! As long as it's obviously daytime you should be okay.
Posted by DeathDealingCat on 21 Aug 18 at 17:41
VoidSeekerI am not fully sure if this is the way it is but I kept finding locusts at certain locations. I mean I would leave him there and would turn when I saw the hallucinations and it would always be locust. So I looked up a vid and saw that he got it in the great sand sea, right above the S in sea, so I highlighted that area and no joke it popped as soon as I reached it. Again I only say it because I got Locusts over and over in the same area and as soon as I go to where someone got it, specifically where they got it, I got it too. Hope this Helps!
Posted by VoidSeeker on 23 Oct 18 at 04:11
Debon4ireGreat sand sea was definitely the place for me. Started to see many different ones than was seeing in other areas in about 30min into it got it after trying for almost 2 hours in other spots.
Posted by Debon4ire on 15 Jan 19 at 03:38
GerbasgamerTook me 4 ingame days at the Great Sand Sea.
Stood still during all of those days and once I began moving deeper into the desert it immediately began raining.
Posted by Gerbasgamer on 21 Mar 19 at 12:54
iLag1337I was running through the Great Sand Sea nonstop for almost 30 minutes. Saw every hallucinations but the scarab. I said, fuck it and just stand still. Game keep showing me hallucinations and finally the scarab.

So, you don't even have to move. Just stand still and you'll get it. Of course you will need to move the right stick a bit so that Xbox won't assume you're idling and kick in the screen saver (which will cause the game to pause).
Posted by iLag1337 on 06 May 19 at 21:35
ShinobiGarthgot it at GSS. went to the S in Sea as recommended and popped within 10 mins of me just standing still.
Posted by ShinobiGarth on 11 Jul 19 at 03:54
FaeAbyss8029Lol I ran around for about 5 minutes and saw 1 hallucination then stood still for another minute and it started raining scarabs.
Posted by FaeAbyss8029 on 19 Nov 19 at 21:14
burtondude33Ran from Siwa to the 'S' in Sea of Great Sand Sea and it popped almost as soon as I got to the S, definitely the best way to do this!

Flynn423Worst random achievement ever.
Posted by Flynn423 on 29 Dec 19 at 21:20
Dragonborn GearI have never been on the side of luck, but this one took me 1hr 10 minutes roughly of standing out in the Great Sand Sea and forwarding time from dusk to dawn every time the sun nearly set.
Posted by Dragonborn Gear on 08 Feb 20 at 01:45
FlthyFirestartrCan you stand around or do you have to move?
Also can you use a horse?
Also does checking the map affect it?

1 hour of everything but the bugs.
Posted by FlthyFirestartr on 01 Mar 20 at 02:08
DeathDealingCatFlthyFirestartr If memory serves, I was running around when I got it. Lots of others have reported it occurring when standing still. Can't speak to the horse/map questions from personal experience, but I assume they won't affect it.
Posted by DeathDealingCat on 01 Mar 20 at 02:40
pukem0nnGuess I was lucky, got it in my 10th hallucination i think, took only 30 minutes.
Posted by pukem0nn on 27 Mar 20 at 14:12
SmokinSnickersI just stood in the middle of the Desheret Desert and played on my phone till the hallucination came across. Thankfully it was the raining bugs on my first try. Approx 5 minutes of waiting!
Posted by SmokinSnickers on 21 Apr 20 at 19:28
SmokiestDadnafter getting sick of running around i tried the standing still technique. took me almost a game day of waiting and many hallucinations but got it eventually.
Posted by SmokiestDadn on 03 May 20 at 14:32
D3imisThis shit just took me 4hour to get
Posted by D3imis on 25 Jul 20 at 03:48
XI ulquiorraStarted in Siwa and travelled to Desheret Desert and immediately when I arrived there I got the bug rain!
Posted by XI ulquiorra on 09 Dec 20 at 20:28
Bilbo3DCNCNot a 100% sure but I rode my horse around all the desert areas several times which took hours real time. After reading the comments here, I rode to the Great Sand Sea and then got OFF my horse and started walking on foot. The hallucinations came faster and I was finally able to get the achievement.
