This works for all titles that have been added to Halo PC.

343i officially supports mods on TMCC for PC. Mods do disable achievements. We have a news article right here on TA discussing this. However, via oversight or error they left the cloud save shared between versions. You can take advantage of their slip-up to pop achievements on the non-mod version on PC after playing on the mods-enabled version. (afaik the save doesnt transfer over to Xbox anymore)

The short version:
1. Play the LASO playlist (or any individual mission if going for solo legendary, par time, par score, speedrun, lone wolf 150k) with mods enabled.

2. Save and quit at the epilogue for the LASO playlist, or at the end-of-mission cut scene for any mission except Pillar of Autumn which must be played from the final checkpoint at the MAC cannon. For Lone Wolf there is a checkpoint at the cut scene after you die.

3. Load up your saved mission or resume the LASO playlist on the non-mod PC version. (One commentor stated that individual missions must be resumed on the same platform so if you save/quit an individual mission on modded PC, you must complete it on non-modded PC. I cannot confirm this personally.)

4. Skip epilogue and die on lone wolf for LASO playlist. Finish the mission if doing a campaign mission (par time or par score). Note: For the solo legendary and legendary speedrun achs this means you'll need to switch back and forth and do one mission at a time.

I can't link you to what mods to use.

1) I dont even know what they are and
2) I want this solution to stay up.

Inferno118Haha at the last sentence. Glad someone cleared up the process, I had no idea what to do. Ill start you up on the upvotes

TPB MaestroDo people get their Xbox Live accounts banned for doing this?
Posted by TPB Maestro on 08 Dec 19 at 12:01
LifeExpectancyI doubt it. 343i intentionally allowed the use of MODs on PC to some extent. I dont know the specifics, but the fact that campaign progress carries over after you use a mod is a side effect. Had they specifically forbade the use of mods on PC then I think things would be different.

The guy I know that researched it said mods disable matchmaking and leaderboards, so they are obviously aware of their use.

LifeExpectancyQuote from polygon
Halo: Reach launched on PC for the first time on Dec. 3, as part of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection. While the game is mostly the same as its console counterpart, developer 343 Industries has already confirmed that it would support community mods in the PC version of the game. As a first sign of that support, the release features an easy way to turn off Halo: Reach’s anti-cheat.
So unless they patch out campaign progress carrying over, it is no different than checkpoint sharing IMO.
Posted by LifeExpectancy on 08 Dec 19 at 12:13
TPB MaestroSo if they were to do anything, it wouldn't be to ban, but to just patch it out so you can't do it? I've used checkpoint sharing in the past on MCC and have had no issues.

LifeExpectancyThat's my thinking but no promises I am not a dev lol.

LifeExpectancyAnyone who checkpoint shared that has a problem with this is a hypocrite. At least with this you still have to play through the game not just jump in at the end.

The people that didnt checkpoint share (especially Halo 2) probably number in the low double digits, if that. So yeah I dont really care about nose-thumber crowd. I dont even own a win10 PC (keep my tower on Win7 Pro bc I hate Win10). I am just passing on info to fellow TAers like I always do. Did it with Checkpoint sharing, did it with Hollow Knight invinsibility, Ori one life offline cheese, etc. I couldnt care less how other people unlock their achievements.

ReptarOnIce3000Id love an official ruling on this. Id argue this has a strong case of falling under the "exploit" category. 343 has for a fact stated mods are okay, any sort of mod. However, to use mods for Halo MCC you have to boot a second version of the game with the anti-cheat disabled. This version of the game has no achievement popping or anything. No leaderboard, no MP, just strict solo campaigns with no rules. So you beat the game and save quit at the epilogue, which then saves playlist progress. Its not the users fault that 343 made the oversight of uploading all save data and progress to the cloud, thus allowing players to take advantage of that and load *their* save on the enable anti-cheat version of MCC, finishing the game on a legitimate copy of the game, thus earning them the achievement.

There is no gamesaving. Not system tampering. No code altering. You use tools the devs themselves have said are okay to us. This is a developer oversight, which would clearly define this as an exploit.

I second what OP has said. Checkpoint sharing could equally be called cheating, by knowingly abusing the system. Many other games where you can use glitches to get items in places you arent supposed to. Right now im playing Dying Light and found a glitch allowing you to bring weapons into Bozak Horde, a mode where youre supposed to have none. Is this cheating too? No, its an exploit.

If you just think about this objectively, you will see it for what it is, an exploit.
Posted by ReptarOnIce3000 on 09 Dec 19 at 00:33
LifeExpectancyYeah that's my point entirely. Mods disable achievements so this obviously isnt intended, but if they slipped up and allow campaign playlist progress to carry over between versions then so be it. People will use it until if/when they patch it, but it's no worse than checkpoint sharing which truckloads of people here did. This just boils down to Halo purists thinking Reach LASO was going to be the sticking point to keep their TMCC completion sacred and now that isnt the case.
Posted by LifeExpectancy on 09 Dec 19 at 01:08
JullianGGDid you use this method Yourself LifeExectancy?

I upvoted by the way lol
Posted by JullianGG on 09 Dec 19 at 01:14
LifeExpectancyI can neither confirm nor deny. I did LASO legit on CE, 3, 4, and ODST and all but two missions on Halo 2. But I skipped Gravemind and the one right after it on Halo 2 LASO via checkpoint sharing so take from that what you will. Reach isnt much harder than Halo 3 LASO though so even if they patch this people shouldnt stress. I'm actually considering working on SLASO for Reach and making vids. You can let the AI do a lot of the fighting at least until late game. Long Night of Solace is rough though.
Posted by LifeExpectancy on 09 Dec 19 at 01:26
I just wonder if you can reach the Epilogue then load it up in multiplayer and pass the checkpoint onto those people. I dont want to get the checkpoint, just the achievement. My PC isn't powerful enough to have MCC on it but i know someone who would.
Posted on 09 Dec 19 at 05:23
LifeExpectancyNo checkpoint sharing does not work. The playlist tracks each individual mission, so if someone joined at epilogue their playlist would only show 2/12 complete for Epilogue and LoneWolf.

I do want to say I respect Planting for commenting and standing by his downvote. I knew when I posted this that it would get massive downvotes, but me being me I always opt to spread info I hear about. It's like with Hollow Knight. I guarantee some folks prior to my solution used the invincible glitch. Maybe not most or even many, but some. But rather than pass that info on they chose to "keep it on the DL". Bunk that noise. As long as people dont violate MS's ToS or mod game files in an unauthorized way like the old days of 360 gamesaving, I'm just fine with how people choose to boost, glitch, savescum, exploit, etc. Fair play until if/when the devs patch it to prevent progress from carrying over.

Izaidro97Wow, this seems interesting but risky at the same time, I wonder if anyone who has got the cheevo used this method. shock

Emperorlol i might try this
Posted by Emperor#4408 on 09 Dec 19 at 16:58
The saves don’t have to be made on PC and then carried over to XBOX. People are just getting to the end of the playlist, quitting, reloading the game without cheats and popping the achievement while staying on PC.

Some are even going to the last checkpoint of every level, quitting, reloading the game, and popping par score, par time, legendary solo (progress), LASO (progress), and more. Some are even doing this for the lone wolf achievement.

Posted by ReptarOnIce3000 on 09 Dec 19 at 22:24
SashamorningWe've always said that exploiting developer code was fair game. Purists may frown on it, but as long as there's no gamesaving going on, it's kosher.

There are plenty of examples of this throughout the Xbox catalog. Sometimes exploits are patched, sometimes not. But as long as the code itself hasn't been altered, it should be fair game based on years of policy.

If this is now changed, I want to know.

YoDzDamn near everyone with mine craft uses showtimes world for the achievements.
Posted by YoDz on 10 Dec 19 at 02:08
PalesiusI think the issue the IT takes is that the "mod" in question is called a "trainer". I'm not sure what the proper technical distinction is. It may be that a trainer is altering another programs memory, whereas a mod just changes files on the disk. But it probably wouldn't be hard to achieve this in other ways that would be "more legit", just by doing map editing on the campaign maps.
Edit each map to place an indestructible banshee at the spawn. Or maybe it would be possible to just replace all 9 playable story missions with the cutscene that is mission 1.
Or remove all enemies from the map. It may even be possible to make the player invincible or have infinite ammo, since the functionality is already there in game for firefight.
Posted by Palesius on 10 Dec 19 at 03:46
BsmittelDon't see the big deal, they put this ability in the game by design. This isn't hacked World at War servers. An oversight it could pop this achievement, but I'm also sure they didn't intend for you to be able to get beat a Legendary with 3 scoring skulls active by watching the opening cut scene level. Maybe more gnashing of teeth this time around because it's Halo.
Posted by Bsmittel on 10 Dec 19 at 05:43
ReptarOnIce3000On the topic of the difference between a trainer vs a mod, I'd say there is no difference. A trainer is just a mod. A mod as defined by Wikipedia as: "A mod (short for "modification") is an alteration by players or fans of a video game[1] that changes one or more aspects of a video game, such as how it looks or behaves." Key word here being "behaves". A trainer simply modifies how a game behaves.

Further more, I feel what we should be looking at here is EXACTLY what is being exploited. Running the game with a mod or "trainer" is not the exploit. That is the game running as intended. 343 has officially stated mods are fair game. In fact when booting up a trainer, it gives you a message saying you must boot up the "anti-cheat disabled" version of MCC. Meaning that is all working as intended. The exploit comes in when you use the fact that saves transfer over via the cloud.

This is, plain as day, an exploit of how MCCs cloud servers work and nothing more.
Posted by ReptarOnIce3000 on 10 Dec 19 at 07:12
LifeExpectancyYeah that's been my point all along, fighting against the hypocrisy of it all. People here are happy and willing to delete their player data and recover a cloud save to circumvent deaths in deathless modes, which is a cloud save exploit, yet try to put the walls up around this one. I still dont understand the difference between "other mods" and "mods that are ok", and I never will as I am not part of the PC modding community. But MS and 343i have opened the floodgates on this one for the time being, and I wont back down or be silenced in the face of hypocrisy.

I added Seether - Fake It music video to my blog because it seemed super appropriate for all this.
Posted by LifeExpectancy on 10 Dec 19 at 07:38
oONeonDemonOoI would recommend people to do this legit its fun and challenging since there is no checkpoint sharing anymore. And its probably the easiest laso playlist on mcc btw. For once we get some challenges a bit harder than usual in videos games nowdays... but oh well i guess everyone is free to unlock the achievement the way they want to smile
Posted by oONeonDemonOo on 10 Dec 19 at 12:23
Deschain019So, do we think there is risk from 343 or Microsoft account banning from this? Doesn’t seem worth it if that is a factor.
Posted by Deschain019 on 10 Dec 19 at 13:24
LifeExpectancyNo, no risk. Mods are officially supported. It isnt players' fault the cloud save syncs automatically. You'd actually have to go out of your way to AVOID it after using mods by restarting the playlist entirely.
Posted by LifeExpectancy on 10 Dec 19 at 13:37
Crazy DutchmanYour solution does tell people to cheat;
Why not use the forums to discuss this?

How do you define "cheating"?
The Investigations Team uses the following guidelines: Examples of cheating (but not limited to these):
...
Editing or manipulating game files
Using any software or patches not released by the game developer and certified by Microsoft

Cheat Policy

PalesiusJust a heads up, the TA investigation team does draw a distinction between mods and trainers:

Halo MCC PC mods

I can’t speak to the degree of risk, of course, but I think saying there is “no risk” may be a bit reckless.
Posted by Palesius on 10 Dec 19 at 21:11
PalesiusI think I have a “legit”, content mod only way to do the LASO playlist. I will post here once I have tried it out.

XgenosisCan anyone confirm if the LASO playlist for reach works for checkpoint/save sharing?
like could i run through it all get upto the end, save and quit, then bring in a mate and share the progress and have it pop for him to?
Posted by Xgenosis on 10 Dec 19 at 22:51
oONeonDemonOoNo you cant Xgenosis, the new system work in a way that every players have to get credits for each individual missions to get the playlist completed

AP 8T8Hopefully they fix this asap.
Posted by AP 8T8 on 10 Dec 19 at 23:19
XgenosisFix what exactly?
Posted by Xgenosis on 10 Dec 19 at 23:20
AP 8T8Fix the ability to abuse the cloud save and use mods to unlock achievements on the MCC. Obviously wasn't a feature they intended to leave in if achievements were disabled while using mods.
Posted by AP 8T8 on 11 Dec 19 at 00:02
LifeExpectancyCrazy Dutchman - As long as you are onoy using mods, which is sanctioned by MS and 343i, there is no risk. This is nothing more than a cloud save exploit, which has already been discussed ad nauseum and cloud save exploits do not violate TA cheat policy.
Posted by LifeExpectancy on 11 Dec 19 at 00:38
LifeExpectancyI love how downvoters think people wont see this solution just because of vote ratio. People will see it ya bunch of hypocrites.

I agree that trainers destroy the spirit of the game. In my solution and blog I am merely advocating the use of dev sanctioned mods and exploiting the cloud save. In my opinion exploiting cloud saves destroys the spirit of the game too, but TA allows cloud save exploits.

The bottom line is 343i screwed the pooch on this one just like they did with checkpoint sharing. It is amusing to me that playing the entire game in a certain way is considered cheating but merely joining someone else's game at the epilogue via checkpoint sharing was not considered cheating. People ONLY CARE because it affects their precious ratio.

It's hypocritical.

I am firmly in the camp that how each person plays the game is their own business. I played Ori legit but also let everyone know how to exploit the cloud save. I am not advocating trainers. I didnt even know the distinction "trainers" vs "mods" in my original solution prior to the edit. Now I do. But the cat is out of the bag and 343i will likely patch the cloud save thing sooner or later.

🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
Posted by LifeExpectancy on 11 Dec 19 at 03:28
Shinnizle@AP 8T8: To be fair, I don't think the Cloud Save thing is an exploit. I feel like the whole point of how they set up the MCC sync between PC and X1 was to make the saves sync as well, no?
Posted by Shinnizle on 11 Dec 19 at 04:06
LifeExpectancyIt is an exploit in the sense that you are exploiting the fact that they forgot to block the cloud save from a modded version from syncing to other versions. The player isnt manipulating or deleting a local save to "exploit" it, but you are taking advantage of dev oversight, which is "exploiting" the situation that the devs created.

Bunch of cry baby losers
Posted on 11 Dec 19 at 07:25
iPlatfootStop crying, people. Yes, it's a cheesy way to unlock what is supposed to be a difficult achievement. But don't pretend you have never used a cheesy exploit to get an achievement.

If you don't want to do it this way and actually play through LASO, more power to you. I respect you for taking on that challenge. It will test your sanity. Don't save and quit when you die though! That would be an exploit. No, you have to go back to the beginning of the level. Good luck!

THEpaynexkiller‘Walking simulation’ is hilarious.

ReptarOnIce3000Heres a fun way to spin this, and its 100% true. The IT team said using trainers to get achievements is cheating, sure, lets assume that is a fair ruling for a second and not just cherry picking (because lets face it, why draw a distinction between trainers and mods when there will without a doubt be mods that make LASO a joke any day now).

I'd suggest you arent using a trainer to get the achievement. You are using cloud save exploitation exclusively, to get the achievement. Its VERY important to notice that if cloud saves didn't transfer over, using a trainer would make it 100% impossible to get the achievement. It couldnt be done. Theoretically, you could play the mod enabled version of MCC with no mods or trainer loaded, and still get no achievements, then still save and quit at the epilogue, boot up the game on mods disabled, and pop your achievement the same way.

A use of a trainer is purely coincidental, could have just as well been a mod. It doesnt matter HOW you got to the epilogue, the only thing that matters is loading the epilogue on a mod disabled version of the game. Use of a trainer or mod is 100% irrelevant.

All the IT is doing is Cherry Picking and making up their own definitions of what a mod is. You can think that a mod is "something that adds gameplay or replayability" but at its core, at its definition, a mod is short for "modification". Add, or subtract. Mods can delete all enemies on the levels, spawn you at the last checkpoint, turn the game into walking sim, give you an infinite ammo scarab gun that gives you recharging over shields. Pretending mods cant give you the EXACT same edge a trainer does is absurd. Its just a slightly more creative edge.

Rant over.

vl Insane lvJust practice the levels, get good and do it legit. No use doing something that can possibly get you banned. Laso really isn't that hard. Any game with checkpoints as often as halo I dont find that hard. Takes alot of patience but its doable.
Posted by vl Insane lv on 11 Dec 19 at 15:47
oxHARMONxoReptar, I 100% agree with you. Whether or not you consider “trainers” a mod or not is irrelevant. A mod is a modification to the game. I don’t remember playing cheaters in Halo 2 and saying “Damn trainers!” At this point, cheating is cheating, and most if not all of us on this site has done something that another player deems cheating, whether it’s turbo controllers, boosting multiplayer, abusing glitches to speed run, paying to win, sharing saves or checkpoints, macros, account trading, modded multiplayer lobbies, using computers and mod chips to play guitar hero or rock band, mics against fans, and dummies in front of Kinects. TA values haven’t been relevant for years, so why bother caring now? You’ll notice, it’s not cheating if some one in the community with high notability does it. FYI, no one is going to admit to cheating, but will defend it out of guilt.
Posted by oxHARMONxo on 11 Dec 19 at 17:10
LifeExpectancyGet gud... havent heard that one in a while. You missed the whole point. I wouldnt have even kept this solution up if not for hypocrites.

I see nearly 200 people have this now. 🤣
Posted by LifeExpectancy on 11 Dec 19 at 18:08
DominusTenebraeThis whole thing is hilarious. Personally I don’t see the difference in this and the whole cloud save issue that people used to get the LASOs done for H1-4. The far majority of people who have LASO master used that exploit and did not do it legitimately.

343 allowed trainers on the PC version. They have not patched or fixed the cloud save issue. There is nothing wrong in taking advantage of an exploit that the game producer made that they haven’t fixed.

Using a trainer to get the the last checkpoint, saving and loading the game save onto the X1 is allowed. Period. The fact that it’s saving “incorrectly” is uncontrollable by the player. Until it’s fixed it’s fair game.
Posted by DominusTenebrae on 11 Dec 19 at 19:24
PalesiusOk well if anyone want to avoid the Investigation Team’s ban on cheaters, I have modded maps for the first 5 levels done/tested so far. They are most easily done on the steam version, but there is apparently a workaround for the windows store version (haven’t tried myself).

Basically all enemy weapons have been flagged as melee only and also not usable in melee. Poor guys just sit there. Only real dangers are suicide grunts, being run over by a vehicle, and sword elites.

I also added some minor quality of life things. Since they have insane health/shields on LASO I was able to make the assault rifle shoot sniper rifle billets at assault rifle RoF. It can take most things down quite nicely. And the DMR no longer shoots bullets. Rockets.

I’ll try to get them posted later tonight and some rudimentary instructions.
Posted by Palesius on 11 Dec 19 at 21:20
oxHARMONxoHow can TA even investigate this? Anyone doing this or any other unorthodox method results in a playlist time of 164:41:00 or something along those lines. There’s no way of proving, therefore redundant?
Posted by oxHARMONxo on 11 Dec 19 at 21:25
vl Insane lvAs someone who's done all the laso playlists legitimately (working on reach), it's just annoying having people always assume I did the checkpoint glitch like everyone else. I didnt even know about the exploit until I had finished them all. It just made me a little salty working hard on these, especially halo 1 and 2, to find out everyone else is just cheating it. Just makes the hard work seem pointless.
Posted by vl Insane lv on 11 Dec 19 at 21:37
oxHARMONxoI totally understand that vl Insane lv. I’ve been burned a handful of times over the years with my guitar hero and rock band achievements. Honestly, you’re right, I don’t believe anyone who claims they’ve done the LASOs legit anymore. I was told those who did complete them originally, all shared their checkpoints amongst themselves until a group finally completed it. Once again, the leaderboards shows who completed it “legit” and those who completed it unorthodox...
Posted by oxHARMONxo on 11 Dec 19 at 21:52
LifeExpectancyI just think letting others' shortcuts to achievements affect your own sense of satisfaction is a losing endeavor. If you enjoy a game and you rise to the challenge of something like LASO, it shouldn't be about some online bragging rights or artificially arrived-at point value as if it has any more meaning than the gamerscore it's based one (that is to say, none at all). It's for the thrill of the challenge itself and knowing you did it, no matter what anyone else does or what they think about what you've done.

Then again all of this is me trying to project my own thoughts about all this on others, and part of the problem with people demanding this be considered cheating is they're trying to do the same thing (get others to abide by their thoughts/views on achievement workarounds). I don't mean to belittle your feelings on it. I just wonder if you haven't done workarounds for other achievements that didn't matter as much to YOU. Because if you did, then you can understand how the people who loved THOSE games and/or did those challenges legit feel about your workaround.

This whole mess boils down to this site and members on it trying to split hairs and cherry pick what achievement workarounds are kosher and what aren't. My view is that as long as you aren't violating Microsoft's or the developer's ToS you've done nothing wring. Clearly in this case people aren't doing anything wrong IMO because the devs have specifically enabled support for mods, and the only thing players are doing is allowing the game to function as it is currently programmed, i.e. carrying their cloud save across versions with no intervention on their part. Cherry picking which mods are ok and which aren't, despite 343i's intentional inclusion of an anti-cheat disabled mode and their oversight in the cloud save situation, seems absurd to me. People may not be happy about this situation, but they need to take it up with MS/343i not belittle people taking advantage of the negligent coding.

PalesiusI have been advised by the IM that my idea is:
a) allowed by the TA IT.
b) but not allowed under the solutions policy.

So I won't be posting it as a solution, but will post it at Mod DB once I'm done.

You missed the whole point. I wouldnt have even kept this solution up if not for hypocrites.

I see nearly 200 people have this now. 🤣
So what are you implying here? How is the number of people that have the achievement at all relevant and laughable judging by your emoji?

EDIT:

I just think letting others' shortcuts to achievements affect your own sense of satisfaction is a losing endeavor.
Also, I think this is a really good take on the whole thing, although it is quite frustrating that everyone just assumes you cheated something, just because it has been done by so many people. And unfortunately the leaderboards are glitched up to the point where that also can't be used as proof for or against checkpoint users.
Posted by FQX on 12 Dec 19 at 04:47
PankerizateA couple of things here;
TA doesn't stand by your rules, the IT team clearly stated that this is considered cheating and you keep on encouraging players to use this solution.
You talk about hypocrites, but who says those who defend the legit method are 'cheaters' in other games according to your standards?
You're just assuming too much from this community
You should indicate your solution could lead to an investigation and then defend it however you seem appropriate in the forum/comments
Posted by Pankerizate on 12 Dec 19 at 08:39
LifeExpectancyNo, the IT has said mods are ok and trainers are cheating. I am not condoning the use of trainers here.
Posted by LifeExpectancy on 12 Dec 19 at 09:40
Rascalov USAHey Life. Hypothetically, would this method work for unlocking other achievements in the game - notably, the ones relating to beating each mission on Legendary and the campaign solo Legendary one?

PalesiusYes hypothetically. You would probably need to turn off the mod at the end of each mission, and some don’t have convenient checkpoints, but instead have significant fights at the very end.

Someone mentioned using for lone wolf, does that provide checkpoints?

As someone who's done all the laso playlists legitimately (working on reach), it's just annoying having people always assume I did the checkpoint glitch like everyone else. I didnt even know about the exploit until I had finished them all. It just made me a little salty working hard on these, especially halo 1 and 2, to find out everyone else is just cheating it. Just makes the hard work seem pointless.
Hey, could I get a check point from you? Ive beat the laso playlist, some of the levels twice, but the achievement is glitched. Im hoping that beating lone wolf again could unlock it for me. I only play on Xbox so no worries I aint cheating and I can help you finish the rest of the levels you are on, but I do need a checkpoint that is farther than level 1.

BeanpotterI've spoken to the Investigations Manager and this is ok with us. We don't like it but we won't ever take action if someone has used it. So if the people who don't like it can stop reporting the solution as 'not allowed' or 'cheating', I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

LifeExpectancy@Palesius - There is a checkpoint as soon as you die, when the cut scene starts, on Lone Wolf.
Posted by LifeExpectancy on 12 Dec 19 at 17:13
Palesiushmm interesting, i guess you could use it for lone wolf then, in theory.
Posted by Palesius on 12 Dec 19 at 18:51
ReptarOnIce3000@LifeExpectancy - So I could get 150k points, die, save quit and reload a non modded version and get the achievement?
Posted by ReptarOnIce3000 on 12 Dec 19 at 18:55
LifeExpectancyYep, but its super easy albeit tedious to do "legit". 😎

And yes no theory about it. My buddy did 150k on Lone Wolf this way. I recorded a 2 part youtube vid showing how easy lone wolf is without mods though. I stopped at 189k out of boredom.
Posted by LifeExpectancy on 12 Dec 19 at 20:19
PalesiusWe aren’t all as good as you life expectancy. I’m betting you forgot dying reset the moa counter for keeping it clean because the covenant just can’t take you down.
Posted by Palesius on 12 Dec 19 at 21:54
LifeExpectancyLOL! Nah man I'm not that great. If you're looking for a true Halo master look to iPingy or Sun100. Those two guys are legit AF.

I'm just glad the mods put this to rest. As MS supports mods more and more and console/PC lines blur, stuff like this is only gonna happen with ever increasing frequency. It will be just like steam achievements in the not so distant future.

I'm not stalking these comments I swear. Just bored at the airport and the last few days were very slow at work so I had nothin better to do.
Posted by LifeExpectancy on 12 Dec 19 at 21:57
PalesiusOkay, so it is done. I'm not posting it here, but it is on Mod DB (or at least will be once they approve it, and is on the halomods board on reddit (if you have trouble finding it my username there is the same, and I don't exactly have a lot of posts).

I’ll be really amused (and not at all sympathetic) if someone I personally gave the ODST LASO checkpoint comes here and complains about this :)
Posted by Palesius on 13 Dec 19 at 01:22
ReptarOnIce3000Lmao Palesius. Good work man, thanks for the mods! I just finished my 3 hour run. Pointer to anyone who wants to save quit at the end of missions and load up the non mod version, the game saves at the end mission cut-scene. No need to "do the last checkpoint legit". Just Save/Quit at the end cut-scene, and load up the mission on the non-mod version, boom achievement.

Disclaimer, it seemed to not track unless I got under par time, or par score, for some reason? The only mission that is a hassle is the 5th mission, where you are in space. Let the AI deal with most of the ships and you'll be fine.

Another note, the last mission for some reason didn't work using the cut-scene trick. I had to do the last checkpoint, but the last checkpoint wasn't that hard, still managed under par time doing the last section without mods.
Posted by ReptarOnIce3000 on 13 Dec 19 at 02:20
PalesiusSo they worked ok for you? Haven’t heard back from anyone if they had luck with them. FWIW, I don’t mention it in the notes because I added it last minute, but for lone wolf, the machine gun turrets shoot sniper bullets and have 32k ammo once detached.

AttestedBarley2Would love a epilogue checkpoint!

Thanks 🙂
Posted by AttestedBarley2 on 14 Dec 19 at 19:28
LifeExpectancyAttested checkpoints dont work. The other guy asked for it because he already played the entire playlist. It checks each mission's completion for the achievement which is why the playlist says X/12 completed. X being the # of individual missions you have been given credit for. If yours doesnt say 12/12 the epilogue checkpoint wont do you any good.
Posted by LifeExpectancy on 14 Dec 19 at 21:24
RxAxMxPxAxGxEMine says 12/12 on laso playlist I just need someone to let me join in on epilogue so my laso achievement can pop but no one is going to do that.
Posted by RxAxMxPxAxGxE on 14 Dec 19 at 23:09
LifeExpectancyIf it hasnt popped play a campaign mission from mission select and/or look at the in-game achievements menu from within the career screen. I've known a few folks to get it to pop that way when it didnt pop normally.
Posted by LifeExpectancy on 14 Dec 19 at 23:19
PalesiusI think someone probably would be willing to do that: I would but I already used my checkpoint and didn’t think to revert my cloud save. If someone is using the modded levels they could probably run through the whole laso list in a couple hours so someone might be willing to do it if you help them out with something they need.
Posted by Palesius on 15 Dec 19 at 01:21
Fingergun112Just as a reminder that mid-playlist completion on Steam vs. Windows Store (vs. Xbox) DOES NOT carry over between platforms so you will have to complete the playlist on that platform. Once its complete, it should be updated between all platforms showing as complete. I recommend if you have the steam version just for avoiding any achievement glitching is to play LASO on here so you unlock on both the xbox achievement platform and steam achievements.
Posted by Fingergun112 on 15 Dec 19 at 04:51
Super VegitoDo mods work only for Halo Reach or entire Halo MCC? I'm interested in starting this game but Im never going to do all Halo laso legit.

JBIovesSo I need a PC to do this anti Cheat thing? Because I can’t for the life of me find the option on my xbox
Posted by JBIoves on 15 Dec 19 at 11:34
Palesius@strictCleave
Playlist progress definitely DOES carry over cross platform. It is mid mission checkpoint that are platform bound.

@JBloves
Yes mods are PC only (steam or windows store).
Posted by Palesius on 15 Dec 19 at 11:53
Palesius@milky way not atm, maybe in the future once other games are released on PC if it isn’t patched out by then
Posted by Palesius on 15 Dec 19 at 12:17
PalesiusYeah unlocking achievements on one platform seems to unlock them on both. I’m talking just about the achievement platforms here, steam vs XBL. (I think you need to load the game on the other platform for it to unlock).
Posted by Palesius on 15 Dec 19 at 17:03
FunkyWitCheetosI didn't even have to load up the opposite platform (in my case Xbox) for the achievements to unlock. Just had to have them unlock on Steam and they automatically unlocked and applied to my XBL account. I even had one not unlock on Steam that did on Xbox.
Posted by FunkyWitCheetos on 16 Dec 19 at 01:32
ReapingEchoI guess I'm not doing this right. I have a laso with mods checkpoint on lone wolf but everytime I try and load on non mod it kicks me and says anti cheat file found?
Posted by ReapingEcho on 16 Dec 19 at 21:29
ReapingEchoNvmd didn't realize you have to remove mods through the game files for it to load. Achievement unlocked!

BlackRain228Just ran through laso again to help a couple friends and stopped at the epilogue so if you need the checkpoint still light994 message me.
Posted by BlackRain228 on 17 Dec 19 at 06:34
PalesiusDon’t forget you can use the old trick of deleting your local save if you want to hang onto the epilogue checkpoint. Not as useful as it used to be but there still seems to be a few people that need it.
Posted by Palesius on 17 Dec 19 at 11:47
SEIKO200Is there any specific point where you should save & quit during an end cut-scene. Tried to get par score and time on the first mission (different account) and didn't get any achievements.
Posted by SEIKO200 on 17 Dec 19 at 19:35
LifeExpectancyI cant speak to individual mission stuff Seiko as I have no idea. A poster above mentioned he forgot to remove the mks files and once he did that the ach he was going for popped. Logically it would be a safer bet to play until the mission's final checkpoint and save/quit there rather than the end of mission cut scene. Also someone mentioned mid-mission checkpoint saves dont carry over between versions, so if on Win10 or Steam you need to finish that mission on Win10 or Steam (without mods).
Posted by LifeExpectancy on 17 Dec 19 at 19:56
SEIKO200Thanks for the answer. I'm just playing the game on PC (Steam version), that's why it's on a different account.

What I've been doing so far is:
1.) install mod
2.) play mission in non-eac mode until end cut-scene
3.) save & quit
4.) uninstall mod
5.) resume mission in eac mode

Tried it three times now and didn't get the achievements. I'll give it another try using the final checkpoint method.

edit:
Didn't work either.
Posted by SEIKO200 on 17 Dec 19 at 20:08
LifeExpectancyThats odd as several others including friends of mine have used it successfully. One guy I know even did it for the lone wolf 150k. You might try checking your tag's profile on Xbox if possible. My buddy wasnt seeing achievement unlocks on PC but when he checked on Xbox they had unlocked with no notification. TMCC achs are very finnicky and unpredictable. I had to look at my achievements tab in the career screen in-game a few times to get some easter egg ones to unlock.

If they havent unlocked even on Xbox you might want to try on Win10 if tou have access to it and if TMCC is cross-buy. I dunno if it is though.
Posted by LifeExpectancy on 17 Dec 19 at 20:43
SEIKO200I believe it works :)

Not sure what I'm doing wrong, I'll give it another try tomorrow. If I still fail to get the par score achievements with it, I'll just use the mod to do LASO.

Already got 5 par scores while playing through the game on Legendary in Co-Op anyway and just wanted to save a bit of time getting the other ones.
Posted by SEIKO200 on 17 Dec 19 at 20:56
LifeExpectancyYeah par scores are stupid easy in co-op. We ended up getting them all while doing our legendary speedrun in 4-player co-op and only overshot the 3hr speedrun by like 10 minutes, easily fixed by replaying New Alexandria where we had wasted tons of time on the 1st run. Good luck and if you need a partner for par scores hit me up on Xbox if you have access to one.
Posted by LifeExpectancy on 17 Dec 19 at 21:13
PalesiusYeah I don’t think we missed a single par score on 4p legendary, and most were double or triple what was needed. We did miss a few par times but usually only by a minute or two. The big one obviously is LASO.

Palesiusa) if you are asking me for help, have you read the instructions included with it.
b) have you read where I have been asked to keep it off of TA? You can comment on the Reddit thread or email me (address is included in the instructions)

I’m not going to be answering requests for help in this thread going forward, except maybe “see my earlier post”.

Download from Reddit thread and look at the instructions
If you still have questions, either comment on the Reddit thread or email me.

MarkavellliSo you’re saying for LASO you have to just quit at the epilogue and not after each mission?
Posted by Markavellli on 21 Dec 19 at 05:44
LifeExpectancyArador - the mods are only available on PC. You can unlock the achievement on Xbox after playing on PC with mods because the cloud save syncs across platforms.

Markavellli - Yes for the LASO playlist you only have to save and quit at the epilogue, not each individual mission.

ShinnizleWell of course, when you play LASO, all skulls are activated, that's what LASO stands for (Legendary, All Skulls On). One of the skulls is the Iron Skull, and makes it so that when you die you restart from the beginning of the mission (or the last checkpoint in anyone dies while playing Co-op).
Posted by Shinnizle on 23 Dec 19 at 19:18
LifeExpectancyEven playing solo I believe if you save and quit right when you die you can resume from last checkpoint. Just cant let it reload mission start when you die.

Mr SkottoThanks to /u/Palesius for the mod to get Halo: Reach LASO and the 150,000 Points on Lone Wolf done easily. 343 got me to buy the game on Xbox One & PC just to get my 7000/7000 (700/700).

I died a few times as some unpredictability can happen when firing rockets or suicide grunts, etc.

At the Epilogue I saved and quit. I uninstalled the mod, moved the mod out of the folder of /maps and then restarted the game playing the regular way and laso popped as soon as the game ended. For the 150,000 on lone wolf, I used the turret since it has unlimited ammo. Save/Quit at the death screen. Uninstalled the mod and moved the mod out of /maps and reopened the game as normal. The achievement popped as soon as I hit resume.

Good luck everyone!

PS. /r/halomods on reddit is awesome too!

C3LLDW3LLERDoes doing LASO solo unlock the legendary solo achievement as well?
Posted by C3LLDW3LLER on 27 Dec 19 at 20:41
LifeExpectancyIt should. My buddy only had to go back and replay a few levels solo because he did them co-op laso before doing the rest of the playlist solo.
Posted by LifeExpectancy on 27 Dec 19 at 20:59
LifeExpectancyYou can check by going to mission select and see if it has the legendary icon on the solo box after having done it SLASO in the playlist.

Shadow 00 FoxWarning for people trying to use the mods with Windows 10 version of MCC, not the steam version--I screwed up my Windows Apps folder, most apps still work but now the MCC and for some weird reason, Age of Empires 2 DE both say 'cannot be accessed by system'. Something I did with the permissions somewhere along the line must've messed things up, pay attention to the backup for permissions, I didn't read that part until afterwards!

ModaI look forward to completing this without cheating
Posted by Moda on 29 Dec 19 at 21:54
LifeExpectancySo you did Halo 2 LASO fully legit, didnt even skip Gravemind via checkpoint sharing? 🙄 You've never boosted a single multiplayer achievement? Never save scummed a no death achievement? Never deleted your player data to make an achievement easier? Not a single time for any of those things ever?

Ypu didnt even do solo legendary on the 360 verson of Reach so forgive me if I dont believe you thqt you didnt checkpoint share to get Halo 2 LASO at a minimum.

And if you say no to all of those you're probably lying about at least one of them. And you're a hypocrite. It isnt cheating if you are only using the tools the devs allow (like checkpoint sharing 😉).

But kudos to you if you do THIS laso "legit".
Posted by LifeExpectancy on 29 Dec 19 at 22:44
Vengeful VoidWhere is the fun by using mods to do this...
People using mods for one achievement have some problems. Its just an achievement.
Posted by Vengeful Void on 01 Jan 20 at 19:31
LifeExpectancyYou could say the same thing about boosting, checkpoint sharing, and save scumming. But people do it.
Posted by LifeExpectancy on 02 Jan 20 at 00:18
SashamorningI like finding loopholes. It's something I particularly enjoy. Therefore if I see something like this, even if I don't always care about the game or whatnot, I like using the loophole because it's there.

Why climb a mountain? Because it's there. At the end of the day, though, it's just a mountain, and most people see it that way. Same with achievements.
Posted by Sashamorning on 02 Jan 20 at 03:10
Sky Maniacdont really understand the down votes...

This solution is basically what this site is for - finding the quickest/easiest way to earn achievements.
This is no different to the "skulls" method for Halo 2 Legendary.

why waste your time doing this the "right" way when you can do it near enough hassle free.
Posted by Sky Maniac on 02 Jan 20 at 12:18
LifeExpectancyOh I fully understand the downvotes. There are certain people that like/want to have something to lord over other players, to feel like they are 'better'. These are people that (not all but generally) dont derive enough sense of satisfaction in their real life, so they try to find things and ways to make themselves feel superior to others. Like I said not all, but I'd wager the majority of them.

The sad truth is, knowing how insane Halo 2 Gravemind is on LASO, the vast majority of them also checkpoint shared to get Halo 2 LASO done. Anyone who circumvents avhievement requirements anywhere but downvotes this is a hypocrite. But people that checkpoint shared and now act holier than thou about THIS are the biggest hypocrites of them all, and quite frankly a laughable bunch of fools for pretending to be something they are not (Halo experts).
Posted by LifeExpectancy on 02 Jan 20 at 13:08
snikefriendLifeExpectancy I did not checkpoint share for any LASO achievement (though I haven't unlocked Halo 2 LASO) and I did not downvote your solution. However, I do not like other people unlocking these achievements with no effort and I have problems with it. You can tell yourself that we don't have any sense of satisfaction in our life or that you are better or smarter or anything, however this doesn't change the only fact: That you are abusing a dev's bad coding in order to obtain a difficult achievement. This goes to all who checkpoint shared too. So yes, no one can blame you but you also can't blame anyone who feels that what you do isn't fair.

To anyone who feels underprivileged: Do not downvote this solution, do not blame others for using it. Head over to Halo Waypoint, submit a ticket or post in the forums so that 343 becomes aware of it, and patches it. Simple as that.
Posted by snikefriend on 02 Jan 20 at 13:16
LifeExpectancyMaybe you didnt checkpoint share. I was careful to say the majority (not everyone). Purists exist.

But can you honestly say you have NEVER circumvented achievement requirements? Boosted multiplayer, quit out to avoid a death registering, etc?

It's all the same in my book. And my statement stands about the reasons behind people's downvotes. You obviously don't fit into that group, which I can respect.

I never said I was better, or smarter. Quite the opposite. I readily admit my failings. I have never claimed to have earned every achievement on my tag in the purest way possible. And I think the fact that I encourage people to abuse playing offline to unlock Unhinged in Ori even though I love it and did it legit speaks to the fact that im no hypocrite. I simply hate them (hypocrites).

A site user CAMPAIGNED for people to downvote my solutioj for Hollow Knight's pantheon. He actually PM'd other site users trying to get people to bury it with downvotes. I know exactly where a lot of downvotes around here come from.
Posted by LifeExpectancy on 02 Jan 20 at 13:57
snikefriendBoosting is different, the "Assault on the Control Room" glitch (or any other glitch) is different, you do not exploit bad coding, it's just as is. Boosting is a cooperation of two or more people to get something done. This IS allowed by the game devs, meaning that they are aware of it and simply let it happen. This does not apply in your case, as I am certain this is not intended and WILL get patched.

And yes, personally I have done every achievement in co op so no, I did not use the save/quit method but this is also different, because even with that, the achievement is difficult, and requires effort. You do have to practice the tricks and make them happen. Your way though, is a 'lazy' way that requires no actual skill whatsoever.

As I said before, I aggree that downvoting this solution isn't fair. Reporting it to 343 is the only right response to those who feel 'cheated'.
Posted by snikefriend on 02 Jan 20 at 14:20
PalesiusTo be fair the "Assault on the Control Room" glitch most certainly is exploiting bad coding. What do you think a glitch is exactly? If you glitch through the gate with the forklift on Nightfall, do you seriously think that is how the devs originally intended it to work?

And no, sorry, boosting is certainly not intended by the devs either. People have been banned or suspended in many games for boosting in ranked matches, MCC among them.
Posted by Palesius on 02 Jan 20 at 19:30
ReptarOnIce3000Glitches and exploits do nothing but exploit bad coding though. That's why they're called glitches and exploits...

And at the end of the day, these are just achievements in a video game. They have no real world value. People take it way to seriously sometimes. Who cares how others do things. You can get all your achievements legit and with "skill", and that's great for you if you're willing to put the time in, quit worrying about how others do it. I'm sure I could have done them legit if I was willing to put the time in, but I only have so much time in my short life, so if there's a quick way to do things, I'm going to do it.

Also I'd argue boosting is definitely not "allowed" by devs, since many games have things in their code of conducts that literally state bans for boosting things like rank and stats...it's something minor for sure, and rarely enforced, but it's definitely considered cheating by the devs.

Posted by KnightRadiant88 on 02 Jan 20 at 20:11
SashamorningEveryone talks about glitches as if they're not caught by the developers.

Does everyone remember all of the speedruns that Bungie encouraged?

Does anyone remember watching clips and seeing how many people glitched OUTSIDE THE MAP in order to get those times, and no one said anything? Hell, they even gave out awards to those people.

The people in here arguing against glitches and exploits need to argue about it in a different game.
Posted by Sashamorning on 02 Jan 20 at 20:58
snikefriendIt is tottaly different to practice skill moves, despawns and actually putting effort in the game in order to achieve times, than a lazy ass mod that simply earns you an achievement you don't deserve. And yes, developers encourage the 'abuse' of those glitches because they are aware of them, and not only do they not patch them, but encourage you to use them actually. The mod method is definitely gonna get patched so it is not encouraged at all. If they become aware of it, and don't patch it then I'll be the first to say that it's ok to use it. Who got banned in MCC for boosting? And what exactly did they boost?

Sashamorning it is ridiculous to refer to speedrunners to support your claims. Do you actually believe that Monopoli or Goat Roap would have gotten awards if they simply modded the game so as to not take damage and managed ridiculous times? This is laughable.

To those who say 'these are only achievements in a video game', this also applies the other way around. If they are 'only some achievements in a video game', why do you care unlocking them illegitimately? So quit blaming others that got them legitimately and simply do not want people to unlock those chievos by cheating.

Finally, another reason that you can't compare cheating to glitching is this: Is the god despawn in Assault on the Control room a glitch? Yes. Can anyone practise it and do it? Yes. Is modding accepted to earn achievements? Yes (?). Can anyone do it (even after 5 months from now?) Probably not. So some will have gotten the achievement by modding, and some others won't be able to do so. Isn't that unfair? It is. If they intended to net you the achievements through modding, they wouldn't have disabled them while playing a modded version.

Shadow 00 Foxlol... this comments thread.
Everyone complaining, please try to consider this:
You're claiming the achievement is very hard; the truth is, it is one of the easiest achievements in Halo right now, so get it while you can!!
Saying it's hard when it isn't right now isn't being honest.
Until the modding is patched out, this is an EASY achievement.
(unless you break your Windows Apps store like me cry)

LifeExpectancyA lazy ass boosting session earns you an achievement you didnt deserve.

See, it works the same both ways.

They're all the same thing Snike. I respect you for not downvoting, but I unequivocally disagree with you on what Is and Isn't cheating.

The silly thing is the people that tried to shut me down on this are the only reason I fought so hard to keep it up and spread the word. They should have just left well enough alone.

It is. If they intended to net you the achievements through modding, they wouldn't have disabled them while playing a modded version.
but if they patched the glitch then it would be the same, as people before would of been able to do it to cheese the level but not now...

works both ways.

at the end of the day:
- Mods are allowed, but achievements are disabled.
- 343 failed to ensure that mods dont allow you to indirectly gain achievements (glitch in the code or oversight)
- glitches in the game allow you to get achievements easier, but were never intended (lack of testing or bad coding)
- There is no difference, both are cheesing the game.

if your a purist feel free to be hurt, but as I would guess the vast majority of this site have cheated on 1 game or another there is no point in complaining.

ReptarOnIce3000@Snike You seemed to have missed my point entirely on "they're just achievements in a game" by throwing out the whole "well then why do you care to get it so much". I care to get any and all achievements in my games because that's what I enjoy to do. Not to have an ego over others because of what achievements I have unlocked. It's a hobby that I don't take all that entirely seriously. Because let's be real taking it that seriously is silly. I'm not putting "LASO Master" on a resume.

My point wasn't solely that they don't matter in real life. My point was, let people get them how they want, and just worry about yourself. "So quit blaming others that got them legitimately and simply do not want people to unlock those chievos by cheating." Is just ridiculously petty. You're basically saying, "NO, you have to do this how *I* want you to". Like who cares. I have a friend that was so high and dry about the Hollow Knight invulnerability glitch because he got it legit, and didn't even wanna put a game on his tag because "everyone just glitches it for the achievements" but like others using glitches doesn't take away your own achievement, you know what you did, and that's all that matters, who gives a rats ass if people don't know you did it legit or not. Quit looking for validation through others approval, and through achievements of all things for god's sake.

Mod, cheat, boost, exploit, save scum, delete saves, make back-up saves, whatever you want to do to get achievements in this hobby we all share, I don't care. As long as you're having fun, by your own definition, no one else's, then I'm all for it. Because at the end of the day we're all just trying to have our own fun.

Alchemist xPTKxWish this comment section wasn't majority complaining/debating about modding. Doesn't seem the spot for this

Need help figuring out how to get this to actually work. Found the Mod but don't know how to actually use it
Posted by Alchemist xPTKx on 04 Jan 20 at 06:15
KanchanaburiThank you for posting this. Although I don't think my windows 10 PC could handle the game, it is nice to know you are sharing. Many people, myself at times, have worried that devs would see a solution like this and take action.

Any way, thank you. I would be curious to know how many of the current 71 downvoters took advantage of the save sharing, or other exploits and are condemning this solution. I never got the chance but I would have. As well, how many of those 71 joined a BOOSTING session - I'd bet most of them. The dev also didn't intend gamers to take turn getting kills during a session... and I know alot of you 71 did.

AttestedBarley2Completed oni sword base to pillar of autumn on coop then came back and did winter contingency on solo, no cheevo. I don’t think playlists recognize coop or solo, just completion. Wondering if anyone had a epilogue or lone wolf checkpoint. Thanks!

Agent ActiveI keep getting glitched on Long Night of Solace. I do not get the option to land on the corvette

LifeExpectancyIt's possible there is one stray ship you havent killed there? I've never had that glitch personally.
Posted by LifeExpectancy on 05 Jan 20 at 18:52
ShinnizleYeah, some of those ships are hard to see with the Blind Skull on.
Posted by Shinnizle on 05 Jan 20 at 18:58
Agent ActiveI still haven't gotten past this part yet. On one of the runs one of the ships was out of the playable area

Games MasterMuch like other people here I have 12/12 on my LASO playlist from doing the missions out of order, helping friends. Would anyone have a lone wolf/epilogue checkpoint I could borrow? :)
Posted by Games Master on 13 Jan 20 at 15:43
Games MasterCan confirm watching the epilogue/lone wolf without skipping any cutscenes will fix the 12/12 problem!

ClassierPompanoI can confirm that mid mission checkpoints do NOT save between Xbox and PC, only the start of the current mission you are on.

BabyishDuckHopefully this still works when Halo 1 and 2 are released on PC for the 3 hour achievements. Definitely taking advantage of this.

PalesiusFYI I updated the mod on google drive to work with the new version reach maps. Also can toggle mod on/off faster and unlimited ammo. But doesn’t look like it will work for halo1 (restarts mission when you swap maps).
Posted by Palesius on 19 Mar 20 at 13:21
MarkavellliAnyone know if this will work for CE?
Posted by Markavellli on 19 Mar 20 at 15:28
JellyfisshHey Palesius! I checked the google drive (reddit link) and the version is still the old one(created on Dec12), the maps cant be patched. I am sure I am doing the patching right, because I did it before and it worked, now I can't patch them properly. Would you update the link there or the file in mod DB? Thank you very much!
Posted by Jellyfissh on 24 Mar 20 at 21:43
Dobermann XLol, seriously some players have serious problems. This solution works, so where is the problem? Everybody cheated when the game was released with the checkpoint trick, the save and quit trick and now they are using the game disc reset method to remove the iron skull and makes things easier... The worst cheat method was the checkpoint trick, people got every achievements without playing the entire game. I hope this solution will work on the other halo games of the MCC and that they will be released soon and not in 2055.
By the way, does it works on Halo:CE?

SQAUDY DEMONI have halo on pc and xbox how do i even begin to use mods for laso.
Posted by SQAUDY DEMON on 11 May 20 at 12:51
Shadow 00 FoxIt is FAR FAR easier to do now on Windows 10!
How to:
1. Find Palesius patch file/instructions download on reddit
2. The folder is "C:\Program Files\ModifiableWindowsApps", no longer locked behind the permissions of WindowsApps folder that would make you have to dump the game, change permissions, ugly stuff.
3. Run Palesius patch file according to the instructions in the halo Reach maps directory. If you don't trust a random file, you can make your own...
4. Play the game in cheat mode for whatever you want until the final cutscene... save/quit.
5. Run the patch file to fix the maps.
6. Run the game in regular mode and get your achievements.
Soooooo much simpler than 4 months ago when I broke my Windows store trying to do it.....!

Posted by The Manic Moose on 27 May 20 at 08:09
PalesiusFYI, I've updated my patches to support the latest version and also to work with Halo1 and Halo2. Fair warning, Halo1 is not super useful since it resets you to level start when you swap map files...
Posted by Palesius on 02 Jun 20 at 01:44
Shadow 00 FoxGood point, Halo 1 LASO final mission is still not a cakewalk, but that's a ton easier
Posted by Shadow 00 Fox on 02 Jun 20 at 18:16
LifeExpectancyCurrently, yes. No promises for future patches/game additions on PC.
Posted by LifeExpectancy on 16 Jun 20 at 01:52

LifeExpectancyAs faras I know yes. I havent tested this myself. But others have reported it works.
Posted by LifeExpectancy on 16 Jun 20 at 15:05
TexasHONZI downvoted because its not even a solution for the method youre pushing. You dont even have the mods in question. You dont know what they are. And if you did post them, the solution would be taken down? BECAUSE IT IS CHEATING. There is save file manipulation, and then there is modding the game to get the achievement before doing save file manipulation.

If you need a PC to accomplish it, its probably in bad spirit of actually accomplishing something. Dont care what a mod said.
Posted by TexasHONZ on 01 Jul 20 at 19:22
LifeExpectancyI are cry. I must go and reevaluate my life choices now. Yes, I cannot directly include mods or links to mods in the solution. No, this isnt cheating. Blame the devs for allowing mods and having the cloud save carry over between versions. If they cared it wouldve been patched by now. Sorry elitist, yall lost this fight long ago. But I applaud you for commenting on your down vote.toast

I also posted the cloud save work around to get Unhinged in Ori and the Blind Forest DE, despite it being clearly against the devs' intent AND my favorite game of all time. toast

On a side note, I see by the votes there are at least 110 sandy anal sphincters on TA as of today. rock

And yeah, you are butthurt. Because youre combative with EVERY poster, even a year after you posted your guide.
Posted by TexasHONZ on 12 Jul 20 at 18:47
LifeExpectancyIt's been under 7 months, but I understand if blind hatred distorts time. I was told by a mod not to include specifics. The solution is merely to bring attention to this availability so ppl can research for themselves. But Ok dude 👍
Posted by LifeExpectancy on 12 Jul 20 at 21:24
TexasHONZthe mods wont allow you to post the solution. So its not a solution. Its altering the game with code before using a save exploit.

Ah yes, 2019 to 2020, not a year. Just 7 months. As we all know, people who dissect every detail definitely arent butthurt. LOL
Posted by TexasHONZ on 13 Jul 20 at 06:17
LifeExpectancyOk dude 👍

Straggor@TexasHONZ People are entitled to use this method if they want to. Whether it is considered cheating or not is up to the individual user. Just because you don’t like this method (Which is entirely okay!) doesn’t mean you should constantly try to attack the person bringing it to the attention of players. As a community in general who do this for fun, we shouldn’t be as negative towards people who are simply trying to show you another option. It doesn’t solve or change anything, especially when you do it on a consistent basis.
Posted by Straggor on 14 Jul 20 at 19:18
PalesiusIn the interest of hurting the precious ratios, I thought I'd let everyone know I updated my mod to work with latest update and it includes Halo 3 now.

It can be "altering the game with code" but it doesn't have to be. (By which I mean using a trainer, which the investigation team has said isn't ok, although honestly there isn't much way of verifying someone used a trainer.)

The investigation team HAS said that modifying the data files is allowable as it is EXPLICITLY ALLOWED BY THE DEVELOPER. It is pretty easy to do that to make the game trivially easy. When you combine that with the save exploit it allows you to earn achievements.

Honestly for those who are deeply invested in their ratios, I'd imagine that gamepass and mods probably cancel each other out to a large extent. I beat everything prior to reach "legitimately" for past versions of "legit". (Full disclosure, ODST is the only LASO I completed myself, I boosted the multiplayer, I used the save/quit exploit for Halo 1 & 2 legendary speedruns. And of course I used plenty of in game glitches to get those Halo 1& 2 times as well.)

And... seriously? I never knew there was a whole year between Christmas and New Years Day!
Posted by Palesius on 16 Jul 20 at 01:04
Crims0nScorpionSee doing this on LASO is the only thing I would consider doing this for...Par Times and Par Scores I've been able to do them pretty easily or without much trouble, but LASO always has given me troubles, progress resets for whatever reason, or if doing co-op I don't have many people who can sink the time into it so modding this on PC and then getting the LASO achievements done doing this method I would say is ok, especially if it's something the developers haven't or have no intention on patching or resolving, if left in by the developers it's something that's usually seen as "we don't care if you do this"...besides it's for imaginary score that only matters to the people who are earning it, the amount of achievements that many people have earned by exploiting glitches, bugs, or just straight up using an external program to just unlock all the achievements, who knows how many times.

If anything, just use a mod that prevents you from dying, one simple mod like that could easily give you what you need achievement wise, get the LASO ones and be done with them. If how someone unlocks and achievement bothers you THAT much then I feel there may be something wrong with how you see the world then.
Posted by Crims0nScorpion on 21 Jul 20 at 03:38
DeadpoolIs there any way this could give me a VAC ban on steam? Sorry I have never used one, but would rather get these LASO achievements out of the way and just enjoy mulitplayer.
Posted by Deadpool#45017 on 21 Jul 20 at 21:05
DeadpoolAlso, Do I have to start Halo 3 on unmodded version, then save and quit, reload using a no death mod, and then save and quit at final checkpoint of the game? Thanks

Super VegitoNever modded games before and dont know how to mod. If I install Halo MCC from microsoft store will it come with mods or will I need to download them somewhere else? Also where is the safest way to download mods without catching a virus on my new pc? Im interested in playing this game soon
Posted by Super Vegito#805 on 27 Jul 20 at 01:22
PalesiusNo you would have to get them yourself. Halomods reddit may be a good place to look.

Also I haven’t confirmed this myself but someone reported that for my mod at least, they were able to play in normal mode (with EAC on) and the modded maps and earn achievements. No switching required. Can’t test the achievement part myself Since I’m done but I can see if it posts my times to halo waypoint at some point.
Posted by Palesius on 31 Jul 20 at 11:40
WarMachine9494If you can’t do this without modding. You people will never complete MCC. This is NOT a solution this is straight up cheating. Mod your gamerscore while you’re at it too.

Lmao I'm looking at all those comments from ppl saying "do legit, git gud, just practice bro" you know, the save/quit exploit you most definitely used to bypass the Iron skull is not legit bro, the glitches you used to skip parts of missions like on Outskirts is not doing legit bro, using speedrunning tactics is not playing legit bro, using save/quit to not get the mission restarded because you died is cheating, the Iron skull wasn't designed to work like that, I doubt anyone that keeps saying stuff like this actually finished a LASO 100% legit, especially Halo 2 lmao, I couldn't care less about how people get their achievements in a game that actually supports mods (I do have a problem if they use external programs to get unobtainable achievements tho, that is cheating), I might even use this method cuz I rly don't want to do all my LASOs twice just cuz I got my old account robbed
