Replaying Chapter 3 only did not work for me since I must have picked more positive decisions to strengthen their bond in the previous chapters. This is solely to help point out the decisions I made overall in all chapters to accomplish a more negative outcome for the Life Tears Us Apart achievement. Performing the opposite actions should net you Twins4life.

I did the Replay option from the beginning of Chapter 1 and restarted my progress. Hold cn_Y to skip all cutscenes to make this go much faster. I also skipped most memory sequences if they weren't required to progress the story. This shouldn't take you more than 2-4 hours at most, depending on where you decide to start.

Chapter 1
- Don't accept Eddy's gift from Alyson on the boat.
- Break open Mary-Ann's door in the Ronan house. Don't solve the puzzle.
- Choose Alyson's memory in the grocery store "Tessa was angry".
- Pick the option "Eddy did his best for me" at the Police Station.

At the summary screen I received "disappointed", "downhearted", "lack of trust", and "rift". The star was also split in half after those four scenarios.

Chapter 2
- Choose Alyson's memory "Mary-Ann was sad".
- Pick the option "Let's do it" when speaking with the realtor on the phone.
- Pick the option "Are you kidding me?!" when confronted by Eddy after the Archives section in the Police Station.
- Pick the option "Even after what I did for you?" at the dock.

At the summary screen I received "discarded", "didn't feel heard", and "felt let down". The star was still split in half after those three scenarios.

Chapter 3
- Tell Michael about the memories, then pick the option "Won't do any good".
- Pick the options "We're too different" and "I was the kid who killed his mom" during the ice fishing conversation with Michael.
- In the loft, break open the small chest with the crowbar instead of cracking the code. Then pick the dialogue options to proceed with breaking it open.
- Choose Stick to your memory "Mary-Ann threatened Tyler" but I do not think this decision is pivotal to the final outcome. I believe this is what gives you the different epilogues, and the opportunity to do the Tyler/Alyson endings regardless of their bond.

At the summary screen I received "disappointed", and "the twins' bond was broken". Achievement unlocked during the credits.
Zasta 360GameTVIn chapter 2 I have also "felt let down" at the third decision (did not forgive Eddy) but my star on this screen is full? and not "empty" o_O Really strange? - https://imgur.com/poZKHL4

RumbleFish10I think the best advice I can give everyone is to start over like I did if you're unsure about earlier chapter decisions. I understand everyone wants to go down the path of least resistance but it does appear that most of what I listed in my guide has an effect on weak/strong bond. I double checked by replaying several sections. I do think something has to be said about the inconsistency of people getting the achievement, as in it doesn't have to be 100% broken bond/strong bond for you to get the achievement. There is some leeway in there as I didn't make all positive decisions during my first playthrough but still got the good ending.

So for people unlocking it doing half of Chapter 2 and then all of Chapter 3 that's great. They must have somehow got the ratio just right to get both achievements without too much of a hassle.

NikoyroslavI Got This Achievement By This Guide But I Restarted From Chapter 1 The Roshomon Part(Third Sequence From Last) And Made All Split Decisions!! And Followed This Guide To The End.

Ace ChewieWorked for me, but I restarted from chapter 2, figured there would be enough points to weaken the bond enough to snag this.

Although I did weaken the bond at one other point not mentioned above.

In chapter 2 after the "are you kidding me" point with eddy in police station, there's a choice to make regarding eddy (cant remember the exact options) but I did not forgive him and gave him his ring back which also weakened our bond. which might make a difference if restarting from chapter 2 like me.

Everything else I did as above and cheevo popped the sec the credits started to roll

cheers bud

SuperAwesomezI had to replay chapter two and three after getting all the “good” choices previously. I thought I had failed as they didn’t give up their voice but it appears that is not required to weaken their bond.

DEoliOk it unlocked for me after 3th playtrough

Chapter 1 i had 2 out of 4 negative
I did the puzzle from Marry Ann's Room
I forgive Eddy as Tyler that went to Positive
for Alyson instead of negative.

Chapter 2 i had 2 out of 3 negative

Chapter 3 i had all negative

Ended up with Alyson, After the pier i just wrote the final chapter in the book no photo's or anything to Tyler.
When i start writing the book! Boom it popped.

Thanks for the guide! great job!

A BatwomanThank you worked so well started chapter 1 and other chapters all the way through. Was negative towards everyone.

The only thing is "That won't work" from Chapter 3 is something else I forgot though.

JuIIIianLike You said it's really harmless even if you start from beginning, the skip feature makes this doable in a bit over 2 hours from chapter 1 to the end of chapter 3. Especially with not going for other achievements and knowing the game already and not solving puzzles. I started from chapter 1 just to guarantee my last achievement.

JHavoc666Did it just as said replaying all three just to make sure glad I did and this is over with

The game was not even close to unbearable to play through, I thoroughly enjoyed the story and was really anticipating to see if the mad hunter was really what they thought it was and it was a good story driven game

ttfp saylowI guess I'll have to replay it all to get all the achievements. But I probably won't skip the cut scenes, so I can see how the other decisions pan out… facepalm

Jupiter ZappaMany thanks for this appreciated.don't think I'd of completed without this guide.

NoHeroes94To everyone saying "just do a new playthrough" I can assure you 100% that this is doable this by re-loading from Chapter 2. I had ALL positive bond choices in Chapter 1, yet took a risk, replayed from Chapter 2 on and got the achievement by picking all negative bond options in both Chapters 2 and 3. Got the achievement first time, as well as Alyson's epilogue.

If you replay from Chapter 2, the core decisions seem to be the following 5 (the only 5 that show up in the consequences page). Spoiler Tags!

*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

I also chose the dialogue options listed in both encounters with Michael in Ch. 3 to be safe, but even with the notifications, I'm not sure it made a material difference.

I'm pretty sure it's only decisions that show up on your consequences page (4 in Ch. 1, 3 in Ch. 2, 2 in Ch. 3) that matter even if you get star separating or joining symbols for other choices. Logically speaking, I think the consequences page in DONTNOD games distinguish the decisions that actually matter.

Some of the decisions didn't even have any bond significance, from my playtesting - forgiving Tessa or failing the fishing date, for example.

May as well follow the solution to be safe, I guess.

RiludeWorks perfectly, thank you

skittlebizGoing from NoHeroes94 restarting from Plushy Fight!, I did this as well. and in progress during the fishing part with Michael, make sure to choose "We were too different" and "I was the one who killed my mom." I haven't scored the achievement yet, but these both split the bond for me.

Denik Fortes BRAs I had some mixed decisions along the way I took my chances replaying only the final chapter and worked for me, got the last 2 achievements.

skittlebizI tried most of the other suggestions (on other sites as well) that said I could restart again at the beginning of Chapter 3 or 2 but nothing worked except RumbleFIsh10's suggestion of starting from the beginning at Chapter 1, and I just popped the achievement with it! After the final dock selection of "Mary-Ann threatened Tyler," my game froze during the black loading screen and I was about to throw my Xbox out the window if the game didn't continue me at next log on, but it did, and everything was fine. I sat Aly down at Mary-Ann's desk and "wrote the final chapter" or whatever and the achievement popped! I am so sick of Tyler and Aly at this point I can't wait to just delete this game haha.

AcaElic86Basically, the idea is to do as much damage as possible to the relationship between brothers. And the game does a good job showing how they distance themselves with each bad decision. It is best to play from the beginning, just to see the fights and discussions that do not appear the first time we play

D3imisRepeating only chapter 3 with your choices was enough for me, thank you very much!
Posted by D3imis on 27 Sep 20 at 16:14
ATT MXSame that D3imis, repeating only chapter 3 and POP! the 2 achievements left was unlocking.... The another one was A New Chapter... Thank you!
Posted by ATT MX on 30 Sep 20 at 23:48
Reineldinho1981Replaying only Chapter 3 with your choices was enough for me. Thank you! (skipping every possible conversation/cinematic, Chapter 3 was just a little over 1h)

OG PostiYup just chapter 3 worked for me too. Thnaks.

Lurking LawyerWhat a PITA achievement - made all the worse by being the only one in the game that isn't relatively straightforward.

Replaying Chapter 3 didn't do it for me, so it looks like I'll need to play through it all again 🙄

Any2803Chapter 3 worked for me too. Thank you!

qManballinRedid only Chapter 3 and got the "Alyson" ending. Also restarting from the beginning skipping all I can for this one achievement T_T
Posted by qManballin on 11 Oct 20 at 05:58
DaChiefOfOwnagePlayed through Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 making ALL negative choices but still following the collectibles and misc achievements. Chapter 3 I made all positive choices. Contrary to everyone else's experience it seems, I unlocked the negative ending. So now I'll need to replay both Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 making only positive choices to give it more weighting.
Posted by DaChiefOfOwnage on 13 Oct 20 at 12:12
TJBarghI can confirm if you made all strong bond choices in chapter 1 you can just replay chapter 2 & 3 and choose weak bond choices and get the achievement if you follow the guide above.

Overall there are 10 “bond points” 4 in chapter 1, 3 in chapter 2 and 3 in chapter 3. My way of thinking was if you get weak bond in chapter 2 & 3 then that works out at 6 weak bonds against 4 strong bonds so must end as weak and it did.

Hope this helps clarify it a bit more.

thatNoseyParkerWth game, I reset progress at the start at ch 2, did all negative, and still ended up bonded? Only thing that changed was I had Aly in the Epilogue

Scratch that, the “bad” ending just seems a lot more positive than I was expecting

AkaiERASkipping Chapter 1 and only playing through Chapter 2 and 3 worked fine for me. Got the achievement in a little over 2 hours, because I watched a couple alternate scenes.

TheFallOfRoyCan confirm that after beating the game first time and choosing all positive decisions, I replayed starting in Chapter 2:Scene 3 "Compass And Northstar". I chose all negative decisions from there on out until the end and got both the "Life Tears Us Apart" and "A New Chapter" achievements. Also might be worth noting to like Michael right after the plushy fight in the storage room, Tyler and him seem to hit it off and it's cute. He calls him the cats pajamas and it impacts your bond negatively for some reason... not sure why but just wanted to point it out because it's a big "negative bond impact" that OP missed in the OG guide. Also wanted to mention that the "bad ending" isn't bad at all. Alyson's ending is just as beautiful as Tyler's and even has a bunch of new stuff to see and experience!
Posted by TheFallOfRoy on 03 Jan at 20:15
RockAngel252In the Archives section I said "Are you kidding me" but then in the subsequent conversation I wasn't really paying attention to the options and somehow managed to still make up with Eddy so on the end screen I got "hopeful about becoming a family with Eddy"

CYKO7IKI only redid chapter 3 and got both this one and the Alyson new chapter achievement as well. Just to let it be know. Good guide though on stuff you must do
