*Read a possible glitched achievement fix at the bottom*
**It's still a glitchy as ever after patch 1.1.0**
Keep an eye on your inventory, sportjames23 reports they some fish vanished from his, forcing him to re-catch them
**DO NOT SELL ALL YOUR FISH STRAIGHT AWAY!!

There are three altars that require you to hand in fish for them;
10 Bullhead (Small)
- Found a pond near a Mysteries marker to the very west of Glowecestre, right on the border with Hamtunscire, that's full of them.
- Found another pond. West side of Essexe, Lake House has two ponds. It's above and to the right of Brentwood Outpost.

5 Brown Trout (Small)
10 Bullhead (Small) [Yes, there are two!! of these so you'll need 20]
Additionally there's a Mystery that asks for an eel. Thanks JBoge91 :: For the mystery requiring an Eel, you can catch one right off the dock next to his house.

After patch 1.04 several posters here and messages on Live have said they didn't use the fishing line to catch the fish and the achievement still popped. As I've no real desire to replay the game to test, I'll post it here that it may/may not be needed to use the fishing line to catch them. The description still states they need to be line caught though, so don't assume that you definitely don't. After all, this is an Ubisoft game and they don't exactly have a stellar record on any game releasing without significant early achievement issues. laugh

These MUST BE CAUGHT USING A FISHING LINE!! just slashing them with an axe/sword/hammer/spear or shooting them, won't count, but obviously you'll still 'catch' them if you pick up their bodies.

To save you coin, here's the contents of the 'Fantastic Fishes and Where to Find Them, Parts I-III'

Read additional tips at the bottom of this solution, please do read them.

You'll need to build you fishing hut in Ravensthorpe so the lad gives you a fishing line, then you can just hot-foot it to these areas and fish as you go. You should be able to cut and paste this list into notepad or something similar as you can sell the fish/hand them in towards rewards back at Ravensthorpe.

Further, you don't need to catch each size, one of each fish is enough.

Part I
Halibut - Coasts of Grantebridgescire // East Anglia // Lincolnscire // Eurvicscire
Shad - Coasts of Grantebridgescire // East Anglia // Lincolnscire // Eurvicscire
Haddock - Coasts of Grantebridgescire // East Anglia // Lincolnscire // Eurvicscire

Perch - Rivers in Ledecestrecscire // Grantebridgescire // East Anglia // Oxenefordscire // Sciropescire // Snotinghamscire
Eel - Rivers in Ledecestrecscire // Grantebridgescire // East Anglia // Oxenefordscire // Sciropescire
Bullhead - Rivers in Ledecestrecscire // Grantebridgescire // East Anglia // Oxenefordscire // Sciropescire // Eurviscsire // Glowecestrescire // Snotinghamscire
Brown Trout - Rivers in Ledecestrecscire // Sciropescire // Lincolnscire // Eurviscsire // Glowecestrescire // Snotinghamscire

Part II
Flatfish - Coasts of Cent // Essexe // Suthsexe // Hamtunscire
Bream - Coasts of Cent // Essexe // Suthsexe // Hamtunscire
Pollock (POLLOCK) - Rivers in Cent // Essexe // Suthsexe // Hamtunscire
Burbot - Rivers in Oxeneforscire // Cent // Sciropescire // Suthsexe // Glowecestrescire // Hamtunscire
Salmon - Rivers in Lincolnscire // Eurvicscire // Snotinghamscire
Grey Trout - Rivers in Cent // Essexe // Suthsexe // Hamtunscire
Sturgeon - Rivers and seas Cent // Suthsexe // Hamtunscire

Part III - ALL IN Rygafylke and Hordafylke (Norway, you can travel back by going to 'World' tab then pressing cn_Y for atlas.)
Redfish
Mackerel
Hake
Arctic Char
- This has been additionally reported by VanGeko to be found in Suthsexe

Might be worth noting that getting a boat and going into the rivers seems to have a bit more variety that just river bank fishing. Especially for the wider rivers.

{I'll remove this section if it proves true, but patch 1.04 will 'allow fish to spawn in the rain' whether or not that includes 'choppy' waters or waves remains to be seen}
MRT4P posted this in the comments:
For the spawning of fish in the ocean. It has to be clear waters. If there is waves or a storm they WILL NOT SPAWN. What I did for this was meditate until you get clear skies. Sometimes fish just don’t like to spawn no matter what as well. I found making manual save and force quitting game and reloading to work for me
Thanks LaB1 ::
Two things I'd like to add about my experience. One, I had collected a couple fish with bow and arrow and it still counted.

The second thing is that when I would fast travel or arrive at a powerpyx coastal fish location, more often than not, the fish would not be there or load in and vanish. What eventually worked for me was waiting in the area without moving until Eivor's crow landed on his arm. Around then, the fish would spawn.

This was for the coastal fish. Saving/loading, animus, approaching on foot and restart game did not help. This was on a series X
Achievement not unlocked? This might be worth a shot from FireRaiser1985 [tidied up/amended by SurrealGnat3 but both are listed here to save comment scrolling ](additionally, here's a definite location for the Char, possible may need to use the force close/restart trick a few times https://imgur.com/a/qKTHBhj) :
1. Load save file before catching the last fish.
2 .Delete all other saves where you cached them all. Exit game by choosing option in XBOX Menu
3. Fully shutdown the console (setting > power > fully shutdown)
4. Open the game and load save file mention before (the one with last fish missing)
5. Catch the missing one

I did a manual save at the spot where Arctic Char spawns in Norway. Caught it, no achievement. Deleted local save and tried again, no luck, tried a second time, no luck, tried a third time after I deleted save AND restarted my console... Achievement unlocked.
I KICKER I has confirmed (as can I) you don't need to catch all the sizes of fish.
Thanks YaT0 and WantedHeretic for pointing out the missing Flatfish was my mistake leaving it out of Part II :)

Not a fan of linking other people's work in my own guides as this is my work, not theirs, but someone's posted a link to PowerPyx's pictures of some locations for each fish.

YAT0Not 100% sure I think you might need the flatfish too - I located a school of them in Essex, close to Maeldun... in the river opening rather than the sea. Thumbs up from me :-)

Annoying that there's no tracking either. If you've definitely crossed them off using Notepad/favourite pen and paper combo, then you're on the list of 'hoping for a patch to fix achievements'. :(

I've been doing a bit of checking. It's DEFINITELY written as Bollock, but I'm 100% sure they mean Pollock. Can't see a fish being named after half a nutsack. I'll amend the solution, but leave their typo as is.

FlopsyTheRabbitHad real problems getting them to spawn in Norway. Fast travel, meditation, different spots, nothing worked. I gave up and progressed the story, when I later went back to Norway there were a load right there in the home town port where you start.

I would recommend people make frequent visits to Norway through the story to check if the fish are spawning and get the four fish there as soon as possible, it isn't any fun trying to find them at the end

You can update the guide with more understandable sollution for "not popping achievement" - I used solution you've posted.

SchwiftyPanda95It just never stops raining. And if it does my fish dont spawn cry I only need one more fish.
Posted by SchwiftyPanda95 on 25 Nov 20 at 02:00
Gizmo2kI'd suggest force quitting and trying again for that Schwifty.

Also thanks SurrealGnat3, updated guide and credit given :)

VesperJinxGreat guide, thanks for adding the extra info on altars and the fix for those with unlocking issues. It was bugged for me, but I had about 50 hours since I caught the last fish and didn't want to delete my progress with the fix posted. What worked for me was reloading a save before I caught all the fish and catching the last ones again. My closest save had five left to catch. This time, I saved before catching the last fish in case I needed to reload and catch it again a few times, but fortunately this time it unlocked as soon as I caught it. I recommend everyone saving before catching your last fish in case you encounter unlocking issues. If you already have this issue, hopefully you have a previous save before all the fish were caught. I'd add Powerpyx's link for fish location https://www.powerpyx.com/assassins-creed-valhalla-all-fish-l...

Scotty x360aSo as far as i can tell, the update that supposedly fixes the fish spawning thing today has made it worse. I've traveled to every coast on the map, not a single fish anywhere, whether the weather is calm or stormy. Rivers still seem fine though. Only once i saw some fish on a coast and as soon as i threw my line into the water, they all de-spawned. Seems this update has somehow made the fishing even shitter.
Posted by Scotty x360a on 26 Nov 20 at 15:32
disturbedone47I don’t know about anyone else but I can’t seem to find any fish along any coast so far
Posted by disturbedone47 on 28 Nov 20 at 00:07
disturbedone47Okay found some but it seems like even the slightest wave and there gone
Posted by disturbedone47 on 28 Nov 20 at 00:12
Scotty x360a@disturbedone47 I had the same issue but had a bit of luck where the rivers and sea meets. Like the opening of the river from the coast. Still took ages to find what I needed and still had the issues of the fish randomly disappearing, but I got what I needed eventually.
Posted by Scotty x360a on 28 Nov 20 at 11:40
Gizmo2kI've noticed where there's an anchor/port/dock fast travel, USUALLY, near there is a fisherman, there tends to be a somewhat fairly reliable spawn spot. I say usually because this is pure random with a slice of luck. But look out along the banks for fisherman, I think they're intended to be a visual marker that the fish are good there?
Posted by Gizmo2k on 28 Nov 20 at 13:25
WattMadeI was able to just complete it. My recommendation is instead of randomly going along the coasts or middle of the sea is go near a fast travel dock. When it came to getting haddock or halibut, I dove off the cliff next to the Mystery on the coast by the Scarborough fast travel (Eurvicscire- far right).

KleptoJackGreat guide. Coastal fish seem to despawn a lot, I had the best luck fishing in the areas where rivers connect to the ocean.

Just JMannThis guide isnt bad for a checklist and a couple of tips, but not so great at helping with almost pinpoint location. I spent nearly an hour on just looking for halibut (got it recorded) and got completely no where. I did catch 2 fish I didnt have when trying to catch halibut, but again, I wasted an hour before I started looking else where.

I strongly suggest using the images from this site when I was googling for another suggested guide ( https://www.powerpyx.com/assassins-creed-valhalla-all-fish-l... ) because in less than an hour I found my remaining 8 fish, including the halibut right away. One of the big call outs was going into deeper water (river or coast didnt matter) because fish spawn more there. The guide was completely correct and even the images there I was able to find the fish either right on it or a couple of feet away.

Again, this isnt a terrible solution listed here but the link I provided is far better when trying to actually locate the fishing spots vs searching through giant mass of coastal areas. Plus, the fact that getting in deeper water sped this up significantly!

midibenniIf in the settlement the merchants are trained, then we can buy a fisherman Almanach there. This is divided into two parts.
The fish Almanach describes which types of fish are available and where they can be found.

I think this is quite helpful for all those who play in their mother tongue but are looking for English guides. Translating the type of fish is already difficult.

People do their guides in English, not their mother tongue, to generate more clicks. Nice to know that the game itself describes all places and varieties.

JSwartz0181Unless my game bugged to my benefit, you don't have to catch each fish via the fishing line. I had caught every fish via the line except for the flatfish, which I had simply never encountered. While out horseback swim bow fishing to build my numbers for the fishing lists, I managed to shoot a flatfish, and as soon as I did, the achievement popped for me.
Posted by JSwartz0181 on 11 Dec 20 at 12:14
Gizmo2kWouldn't surprise me if it glitched for the good. Ubisoft can't release games that don't glitch in either direction. I'd definitely recommend sticking to just using the fishing line to give yourself the best chances of unlocking it ;) Glad you got it anyway :)

Ashley6200If anyone has trouble with fish spawning, this worked for me - move a little way away from the water (maybe 50 meters or so, doesn't have to be far at all) then stand still until your raven lands on your shoulder. Wait a while, then go back to the water and hopefully they will have appeared.

ArchitectLuptonI was having an issue with this achievement - watched videos on YT on locations, tried entering and exiting the animus, reloading saves, meditating to no avail.

I've managed to get the achievement to pop by fast travelling to the dock north east of Rouecistre Fortress in Cent, leaving the long boat there. Fast travelled to the point west of Beamasfield and riding down to Folcanstan. Once I got there all the fish had spawned permanently, I managed to catch the bream fish on the beach about 116m from the store seller.

maphisto2000When looking for coastal fish DO NOT fast travel to harbours. The long boat was causing all my fish to despawn. Particularly for the flat fish and bream fast travel to a viewpoint and then ride to the coast.

HangmanK7The coastal fish are still a problem. I had some luck going to where the coast met a river but I couldn’t find a bream for the life of me. After exiting and reentering the animus coastal fish were spawning around coast docks without issue and I caught my bream. May work for one of you.
