I have a much easier method for this Achievement.

You'll want to unlock the skill called "Missile Reversal". You'll find it down in the Raven Tree (Assassination Tree / Yellow Tree).

You'll want to make sure that you're low enough level so that the enemies in the area have a red skull. You'll want to head to the area Werham in South West Hamtunscire and proceed to the northern entrance as shown in Powerpyx's guide. This area is great as there's a lot of Standard Bearers there. Hamtunscire is a Level 340 area, so make sure you're no higher than Power Level 300.

Next, all you need to do is aggravate the Standard Bearers, then go to a nearby thatched roof and set it on fire. Stand on the thatched roof and the Standard Bearers will start throwing spears at you. Simply press the LB when the Spear is about to hit you and Eivor will grab it and throw it back, doing a considerable amount of damage whilst being on fire from the thatched roof.

It really is that simple.

*EDIT 06/12/20202*

Credit to @Danny Bizz & @Kleptojack

Some people have had success doing this achievement as 3 separate fights (Kill one, go hide, kill another etc.) instead of killing 3 of them in one go. Other people have had to kill more than 3 (anywhere up to 10 or so). This Achievement is definitely temperamental so keep persevering.
LadyofTreesThe thatched roof is really the way to do it. Got it first try after failing to stay on fire so many other times. A good bow works instead of Missile Reversal too. Thanks for the guide!

TheSign88This is the best way to get this achievement. What is so important though is it can not be done in one fight. I spent two hours hoping for this to unlock killing more than three shielded enemies each run. (I would attempt and then on failure reload my save... which was my mistake.) What I did was this tactic but after one kill run and hide then once anonymous I would aggro another shield bearer and repeat. (may need to use another thatched roof as it burned out) worked first time I also told my friend to try the same and he got it first time. Thumbs up.

SlightlyEroticThis is by far the best and easiest way. A lot of people are getting confused and reading the cheevo description wrong. Thanks for helping.
Posted by SlightlyErotic on 27 Nov 20 at 22:46
Fizzyfacewhat TheSign88 says is right, i did exactly what you did and it worked. I had to kill one at a time for it to pop. thanks bro

Goggs25Does anyone know if the update effect the achievement. I just got the achievement after I killed only 1 shield guy by the fast travel tower in Werham.
Posted by Goggs25 on 28 Nov 20 at 10:56
Thiago BessaI've been doing this for hours, and still can't get it.

I tried one at a time (kill 1 guy, go do other main quest mission, came back, killed another, rinse and repeat). Didn't work.
I tried killing more than 3 guys in a single fight, also didn't work.
I killed more than 20 guys doing the missile reversal, didn't work.
I killed more than 10 guys doing with the bow, didn't work.
I killed more than 5 guys, on fire, with the dagger, didn't work.
I even tried letting the bearers light the rooftops, as I've seen people saying that it wouldn't pop if you started the fire with your torch. And guess what? Didn't change a bit!

The only thing I got ask is: could this be a specific version bug?
What consoles were people playing at when they got the achievement?

I'm almost taking my Xbox One X out of the box to try this, because for the Series X it's being a no go.
Posted by Thiago Bessa on 28 Nov 20 at 15:04
iTz SiNZ v2@Thiago Bessa You're definitely killing the Shield Bearers right? This has to be done against Shield Bearers or enemies with a Shield. The description is a little decieving. I did this in Patch 1.02 on the Series X and I killed 3 at the same time. There are 2 Shield Bearers standing at the entrance to Werham and there is another that patrols around the entrance to the church.

C3HJI don't get it. Are you allowed to touch the shield while fighting, before killing him with a spear while on fire?

And do you have to kill three in a row?
Posted by C3HJ on 28 Nov 20 at 15:54
iTz SiNZ v2@C3HJ From what I've read, some people have managed to unlock the Achievement after engaging in different fights, so I don't think you need to kill 3 in a row, but 3 in a row is easily doable if you're just doing the Missile Reversal ability over and over. You can touch the shield, but you really don't have too. Missile Reversal's will take around half their health off each time you use it against them. Standing on the thatched roof whilst it's on fire will keep you on fire long enough to get the achievement, just Ration if you get low on health.
Posted by iTz SiNZ v2 on 28 Nov 20 at 19:20
Tozi TiberiusI had to kill about six or seven standard bearers before the achievement popped, but otherwise this strategy worked great.
Posted by Tozi Tiberius on 28 Nov 20 at 22:45
Thiago Bessa@iTz SiNZ v2 Yes, I killed a bunch of the Standard Beares, name in red, red skull...

I've been trying the Missile Reversal (and other things) since I was at power level 240 and I am already at level 298 (stopped applying skill points so that I don't get to level 300).

I even made some captures of what I've been doing for the past 4 days: Thiago Bessa playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla
Posted by Thiago Bessa on 28 Nov 20 at 23:04
iTz SiNZ v2@Thiago Bessa I've just watched you clip and you're doing exactly what I did. I'm not sure why it hasn't worked for you bro :/

RossticusExcellent solution.
Posted by Rossticus on 29 Nov 20 at 10:40
DivineF1stThis solution is great, but had to do about 10 Shield Bearers to trigger the achievment.
Posted by DivineF1st on 29 Nov 20 at 14:18
YAT0Excelllent guide - I had to do it in three fights as detailed in comments by the sign - but this worked great on a thatched roof, just killed one with the missile reversal and went and hidden, rinse an repeat
Posted by YAT0 on 29 Nov 20 at 14:35
Sparkii ElectraSolution worked for me, and I only had 40 power level myself, confirming you don't have to have a good setup for this (had to heal 3 times due solely to the fire, however, so bare that in mind if you haven't levelled up your healing at all)
Posted by Sparkii Electra on 29 Nov 20 at 15:03
C3HJ@iTz SiNZ v2 Thanks, I finally managed to get this achievement using your method. However, I still believe you have to kill the solders in a row (but still able to run away to regain health). I watched the achievement progress bar and it didn't go to 33% and 66%. Just from 0 to 100% after three kills.
Posted by C3HJ on 29 Nov 20 at 18:45
Hooch LeeThis doesn't work for me. I'm standing on the burning roof and killing all the enemies by throwing the spears back. But no counter going up and no achievement :(

Edit: After doing some other quests and returning 30 minutes later it unlocked after killing the first guy. Stupid achievement.
Posted by Hooch Lee on 30 Nov 20 at 19:30
BiggDopeI tried doing all three enemies within a single fight about 7-8 times and it would not work for me.

But once I killed one, hid, killed the second, hid, and then killed the third, it unlocked.

Good luck to those who still need it; it’s definitely a messy achievement.

Great solution, btw. Much easier with Missile Reversal on rooftops!
Posted by BiggDope on 01 Dec 20 at 01:00
JKSullivanLike BiggDope, I hid between the first two and reset the pursuers, then I scavenged for food/rations. I then died trying to get the third one (seems if you're too far from the standard bearers, you can't hit them when you throw the spear back). I chose to reload latest save, and it put me right back on the same rooftop with the same standard bearer near by - lured him closer, set roof alight, one kill and pop.

TL;DR - you can die between killing the three enemies.
Posted by JKSullivan on 01 Dec 20 at 16:14
I Ebon Hawk IIs this not missable if you get to max power level before trying this method? As none of the enemies will have the red skull icon.
Posted by I Ebon Hawk I on 01 Dec 20 at 16:19
TheSign88you can reset your skills ebon hawk. gives you an option in the skill menu. take it down to around 260 it worked for me.
Posted by TheSign88 on 01 Dec 20 at 16:52
Calex dEUSTried it at 280 4 or 5 times, they definitely had the red skulls and I was on the roof on fire. Might try taking it down to 260 and see if that helps matters.
Posted by Calex dEUS on 01 Dec 20 at 20:19
Calex dEUSOk I got it, it popped as soon as I took out one of the guys with a flail and light shield as opposed to the guys with the spear and heavy shield (standard bearers?)
Posted by Calex dEUS on 01 Dec 20 at 21:19
CHEAP SUSHIThis one is for sure not popping for me. I did this exactly about 5 times and nothing. Im lvl 166 in the 340 area as described in the powerpyx video. Are we sure we can lower the combat difficulty to skald?
Posted by CHEAP SUSHI on 03 Dec 20 at 14:12
KleptoJackGreat guide! Please update your description to mention that you can do it across 3 separate fights, it does not need to all be in the same fight. I already had killed 2 guys this way so when I followed your guide, the achievement popped on the 1st shield bearer I killed.
Posted by KleptoJack on 04 Dec 20 at 23:35
AceWestfallI'm Power level 400+, did the technique and didnt get the achievement. When it says "hard" it must mean red diamond enemies (or red skull enemies), (hard & very hard?). I usually play with my combat settings on hard, and I did not get the achievement. Guess I have to get it on a second playthrough.
Posted by AceWestfall on 05 Dec 20 at 10:55
Danny Bizz@AceWestfall if you reset your skill tree (or partially reset) you can lower your power level., right? Not 100% sure that this will work, but I suspect it will show the red skull next to the enemies who are >40 levels above you and allow you to earn it.
Posted by Danny Bizz on 05 Dec 20 at 17:47
Danny BizzGreat guide, by the way. I would really suggest adding the comment about doing it in 3 separate fights to your guide. It didn't work for me when I killed 4 in one fight. Went back and did 3 separate fights, hiding in between each kill, and it popped first try.
Posted by Danny Bizz on 05 Dec 20 at 18:42
iTz SiNZ v2@KleptoJack @Danny Bizz I've edited the guide to include your suggestion.
Posted by iTz SiNZ v2 on 06 Dec 20 at 09:33
Lyco499So for anyone who is too high a power level, I haven't tested it myself but since your power level is decided by how many skills you have unlocked, surely you can just reset your skills and spend just some of them to get yourself to the right point (ie so you can make enemies have the red skull again)?
Posted by Lyco499 on 06 Dec 20 at 10:45
CHEAP SUSHI@Danny Bizz Thank you for that tip, doing it in 3 separate fights finally got it to work for me
Posted by CHEAP SUSHI on 08 Dec 20 at 16:08
adam2kay7Just to confirm, i killed 3 smaller shield bearers at 3 separate locations and achievement popped right after the third.
Posted by adam2kay7 on 10 Dec 20 at 22:27
Lobo SamhainJust tested respecing down to 299 and using this method worked like a charm

Xtreme Jam 87This works but for me I had to kill about 5-6 enemies before it popped, just when I started to give up hope.
Posted by Xtreme Jam 87 on 17 Dec 20 at 02:35
rutunkworked like a charm. Had to kill 4, but I probably wasn't completely on fire for one of them..
Posted by rutunk on 17 Dec 20 at 22:02
miichiii95I had several tries, but maybe I could help some people for this **** achievement:
Powerpyx and several other sites are writing, that you don't have to make this in one fight. So I travelled to Werham in Hamtunscire and killed over 20 of the big bearers by using the Missile Reversal and with leaving the fight. No Achievement popped... Finally I tried to kill all 3 of them in one fight. Around the viewpoint are three of these big bearers. I attracted them, went to the house east of the viewpoint, set this on fire and waited vor the debuff ⭕. I killed them again with Missile Reversal and I tried not to leave the fight mode. My Achievement didn't pop, but several hours later I realized, that it has been unlocked at this time, when I did my last try. Maybe I was in the Xbox Menu or something similar, meanwhile it was popping... I have no idea or explanation for this...
Posted by miichiii95 on 18 Dec 20 at 09:33
GabweFantastic method. I had to kill 7 or 8 soldiers in a row for the achievement to unlock, but this technique made it easy!!!
Posted by Gabwe on 20 Dec 20 at 08:57
OllyK24Excellent method. I needed to kill roughly 6 before it popped
Posted by OllyK24 on 21 Dec 20 at 05:13
MattricusI just achieved this in Werham as the above comment suggests. In my 1st fight I killed 3 bearers, in the 2nd fight I killed 3 bearers and a normal warrior with a shield and then in the 3rd fight I killed just one bearer. The achievement popped as soon as I killed the bearer in the last fight (albeit that did also end the fight too). Perhaps the achievement, therefore, is actually counting the number of fights?
Posted by Mattricus on 23 Dec 20 at 15:06
BobWingsLove the guide. It would be great if you could cite where specifically to go in your guide: Hamtunscire, southwest fast travel point, north entrance to Werham.
Posted by BobWings on 23 Dec 20 at 18:02
DrammI screwed up. I'm at end game, 400+. There are no more hard enemies for me, so this will have to be done on a 2nd playthrough... which I don't particularly want to do.
Posted by Dramm on 23 Dec 20 at 20:09
ii JayyMee xDrespec your skill tree should drop your power i think
Posted by ii JayyMee xD on 23 Dec 20 at 20:21
Mattricus@Dramm just a thought - can you ramp the difficulty up in the settings? If you put it on very hard and enabled enemy level scaling would that provide you with hard enemies?
Posted by Mattricus on 24 Dec 20 at 00:55
Raistlin 156Level 400 people don’t worry. Go into your Skills tab, I did Raven skills, and hover over one of them. Hold X and it resets the skill and those beyond it sometimes. Lower your level down to sub 300 and then the Werham fast travel point will give you more than five shielded soldiers to attack rather easily while on fire. Takes less than ten minutes.
Posted by Raistlin 156 on 24 Dec 20 at 19:58
ElDylto1612Thanks champ! Took a few different fights, but got it in the end. Can confirm that it dosnt need to be all the same fight
Posted by ElDylto1612 on 28 Dec 20 at 13:57
LoneBombermanI was level 400 when I attempted this. I reset the skill points to and leveled up to 280. It took me three tries, but then it worked. I just saved my game just outside Werham at level 280. This method worked great, awesome guide.
Posted by LoneBomberman on 29 Dec 20 at 16:22
DivxKillerJust an FYI. I was unable to get any enemies to show up as red, only yellow. Even when I reset all my skill back down to level 1, the enemies still showed yellow. I kept trying the solution, I was level 275, and eventually the achievement did unlock even without red enemies. Good luck.
Posted by DivxKiller on 29 Dec 20 at 20:08
conjuicytarSo I have been trying this for about an hour and this is what I did to make it work.

Initially, I killed 3 in a row, and the achievement did NOT unlock.
I then attempted something different and it unlocked.

I killed 1 shield guy with missile reversal, then I hid, then i killed the second, then hid again, and upon killing the third, the achievement popped!
Posted by conjuicytar on 01 Jan at 02:26
Thiagosc777It only worked for me when fighting on the ground, and not on the burning house.
Posted by Thiagosc777 on 04 Jan at 22:56
DougIitaWorked for me, but I had to kill 4 instead of 3, first i did what you said, killed those three while in combat, then i found a 4th one in Werham as well and killed him the same way, then the achievement popped, if someone kills 4 and the achievement still doesn't pop, try going to Fearnhamme and killing more, or in Werham if you find more there (i don't know if there is more)
Posted by DougIita on 06 Jan at 22:47
DarkestMoment0Massive thumbs up, worked a treat first time. Followed the solution guide and now 30G richer....thank you!

ToriGrace409my boyfriend is trying to do this achievement but has to wait for the area to respawn enemies. Does anyone know how long it takes for the enemies to respawn?
Posted by ToriGrace409 on 10 Jan at 05:56
TheMacGyver048You don’t even technically have to do reversal missile. I killed my last one with my bow. You just have to be on fire
Posted by TheMacGyver048 on 12 Jan at 01:09
Large ToiletMake sure you save before going into the fight. There are two right at the entrance to the fort/village and one just down the main path really close by. I had to repeat killing them about 3 or 4 times so it took me around 10 kills, just keeping reloading the save if it doesn't pop the first time.
Posted by Large Toilet on 13 Jan at 06:13
Deprizzleso I cant get this achievement since I'm level 400?
Posted by Deprizzle on 14 Jan at 02:57
PoakaPapuraI don’t know why he’s suggesting a low power level. But if you’re level 400 you can always reset the points on the skill tab in order to lower your level.
Posted by PoakaPapura on 14 Jan at 17:59
SavageExcrementHe’s suggesting a low power level because the enemies have to be 40 power or more ahead of you to be considered “hard difficulty”.
Posted by SavageExcrement on 15 Jan at 15:46
RenattoooI got this today on the 4th kill. The first 3 with Missile Reversal and the last with simple bow kill. But (if the reversal not working) on level 299, only 2 shoot enough for one bearer with a Fully upgraded Hunter bow (fully stretched shoot).
Posted by Renattooo on 19 Jan at 20:21
AgentOfAbyssThis worked perfectly for me, took me 4 kills as well. I did the first three with just my bow and the 4th using missile reversal, all while standing on the roof of the burning house. One thing I noticed is that after a while of standing there I wasn't on fire anymore so that might be why my 3rd didn't count and I had to do a 4th. Since it still looked like the house was on fire that could be some people's problem as well.
Posted by AgentOfAbyss on 20 Jan at 14:02
Monk52Just got this achievement there. I can confirm that it can be done on Skald difficulty. I had to fight in 3 separate occasions on the same save. I had to go throughout most of Wareham finding more Shield-Bearers, probably killed about 6-7 or so before it popped but it did. Bring rations
Posted by Monk52 on 21 Jan at 18:09
scotwolf2Got three kills using missile reversal at the spot suggested. Got the three than ran off😂😂
Thumbs up
Posted by scotwolf2 on 21 Jan at 20:07
OneSmallChordI tried to do this for ages at skill level 400, it just wouldn't unlock. Changed nothing about the method but reset my power level to 200. Unlocked perfectly after three kills. DON'T TRY IT AT POWER 400
Posted by OneSmallChord on 23 Jan at 12:24
HalderWorked a treat. Just removed some skills to be just under 300.
Posted by Halder on 29 Jan at 22:57
KriostyxGreat guide! I feel like I had to kill five until it popped, but the concept super works. I also used a bow to shoot at the shielded enemies if they presented an opening to do so, I actually popped the achievement while shooting a fatal arrow to a flail+shield guard while on fire on top of a thatch roof.
Posted by Kriostyx on 05 Feb at 23:26
Thragg AvengerGreat guide, don't see how this would be possible through natural gameplay.

It took three separate fights for me, without dying in-between. Tried so many times where I killed more than three enemies in a single fight before dying, and no achievement. Then I tried killing one, running away, healing, coming back and killing another etc. and it unlocked on the third kill.
Posted by Thragg Avenger on 07 Feb at 13:35
OoGREG0RYoOHad to do three separate fights but great guide. Thanks!

KouthardI’m very far as in end game max level. I’m am worried about going back to a previous save where I’m a low enough level bc I do t want to lose everything. Can someone tell me if it’s safe to go back to an old save or should I wait for a new game plus mode to be released.
Posted by Kouthard on 17 Feb at 18:45
justG0TwickedWorked first attempt - super easy. Thanks!!
Posted by justG0Twicked on 18 Feb at 05:37
TheDude722@Kouthard, you can go to your Skills tree and remove/reset skills to go backward to 300 or less. Before you do, just save your current game in a new slot. Then when you get this, just load up that save.
Posted by TheDude722 on 18 Feb at 14:19
skovie11This achievement is over designed (2) lol been at it first 5 hours still nothing

IKillsafeThank you so much, thought i was never gonna get this one.
Worked on my first attempt, i only needed three guards and all done in one fight.
Posted by IKillsafe on 18 Mar at 16:49
The Nerds ClubNo reason to waste time Catching & Throwing Spears when you can shoot Arrows from a Burning Roof which is less Complicated & yes it does count. It also doesn't matter of they have Shields or not as long they have a Red Skull above there head your good. A lot of Guys got right underneath the Roof i was on i attracted there attention then lured them to the Roof then got on the Roof Start it on Fire then start shooting there heads & i got it real quick.
Posted by The Nerds Club on 28 Mar at 17:39
YaIrishMick96What do you do if you're already max level? I didn't realise there was this achievement and now no enemies are "hard" to count for this achievement
Posted by YaIrishMick96 on 05 Apr at 18:57
NewbieKenobi@YalrishMick96 just remove a bunch of skillpoints in your skilltree so you are 40 pts below an area recommendation. That way they will be Hard. Just did this in a 90 area, I was power 76. I removed 16 skillpoints and lowered my power to 50 and bam!
