You must get to at least Day 4 at about 12AM to get all Melee Weapons

This takes about 3 hours from start to finish if you've already made the progress in the game

Note: If you follow this guide exactly, you should be able to obtain this achievement by making one lap around the entire Fortune City Map
This guide is meant to make this long list of weapons not seem as dreadful. Weapons are set up in order by Location and Store. This makes it easier because you are only making one lap of each Location.
Also I would like to note that most of these items are found in other locations (some sooner than others) but please bare with me as I put a lot of time into this guide and as I found weapons; I listed them where I was. There's no need for me to go looking around to see if it's in a closer spot since you'll be headed to these locations anyways.
I'm giving half of the credit to blrogrl808 for helping me locate weapons and make this guide as amazing as it is

This can also be done in multiple playthroughs as long as any file you've used weapons on you have made a save file for (dying after using a weapon erases that progress)

Also note that any missions you are waiting on or any random survivors WILL NOT spawn if you are in that area. Meaning that you have to go through a load screen and wait in a different area until a certain time or until your mission pops up.

And if you mess up with any item or are playing Co-op (which is recommended just because it's nice to have company) just exit the area by going into another area (when you get a load screen) then just turn around and go back to where you just left. The reason for this is because sometimes there are only one of each item which you can usually make use of for both seeing is how you DON'T have to kill a zombie, you ONLY have to USE that weapon on a zombie. (Note that this will not work for weapons that are mission specific, so for those you have to just make sure you use it once on a ZOMBIE and then drop it with DOWN on the D-Pad so your partner can use it [if you're playing Co-op, if not; then have a ball])

Last note is to SAVE, save, save, save.. after you've cleared an area, before you go into a Psychopath/Boss fight. (If you die without saving you lose all the progress you made with any weapons you've used, so make sure you save because you really don't want to have to go and repeat the same weapons over, do you?) Also, carry food at all times.. Multiple Orange Juices are a must (Found in the Saferoom and in Roy's Mart) always keep yourself above half health to be safe

J Baby 117Great guide man, but the manequinns are in SporTrance upper and lower levels in Royal Flush, not Man's Sport. Only error I've seen so far, going through the guide now and waiting for Day 4.
Posted by J Baby 117 on 12 Oct 10 at 04:26
i5centGreat guide dude. Waaay better than just a simple list like the other solutions.
Posted by i5cent on 14 Oct 10 at 01:05
CormacIn Atlantica Casino is Fancy Small Chair actually Fancy Tall Chair? I can't find a small one but there are plenty of tall ones.
Posted by Cormac on 14 Oct 10 at 04:26
Vestri SatorI wish I saw this guide before I got this achievement, lol. Incredible guide dude. I'm commenting only b/c I can confirm that you in fact Do NOT need the Money Case carried by Janus. I got the achievement without ever using the money case. Again amazing detail in this guide. 2 thumbs up.
Posted by Vestri Sator on 14 Oct 10 at 13:04
CormacI just unlocked the achievement. Excellent guide.

It unlocked on LCD Monitor. Funny thing is I remember in my very first game I ran out into Royal Flush Plaza for the first time and straight into Hat Racks. I picked up a keyboard and twatted the nearest zombie then picked up the monitor and threw it into the nearest crowd. Do thrown items not count towards this achievement?

Either way it just shows you should follow a list and not play it from memory.

Mr HeathcliffThis worked perfectly for me - excellent guide and thank you! : )

dropK1CK ninJAHmmm achievement did not pop for me, any common misses? I've used multiple items and I was positive it might have been the pink chainsaw but the achievement still has not popped.
Posted by dropK1CK ninJA on 19 Oct 10 at 05:55
dropK1CK ninJAEh, all ready have my novelty item achievement. I guess I'll just go through the list again. I'll let you know what item made it pop.
Posted by dropK1CK ninJA on 19 Oct 10 at 19:37
dropK1CK ninJAIt was the stupid cement saw. I guess I never saved it from my first playthrough 'cause I know I was killing with it :( Anyways, spot on.
Posted by dropK1CK ninJA on 19 Oct 10 at 22:12
dropK1CK ninJAOh, sorry one more message! The Fancy Small Chair cannot be found in the Atlantica Casino. It is found in the Slot Ranch Casino and they are sitting in front of the slot machines that surround the stage for "One Hit Wonder".
Posted by dropK1CK ninJA on 19 Oct 10 at 22:13
BobWingsI did not use the male mannequin torso and still got the achievement. Not sure if you only to need to skip that object or it applies to all broken objects, but thought I would add this finding.
Posted by BobWings on 19 Oct 10 at 22:57
Nick KevlarWorked for me, As someone above pointed out (or asked) The Atlantica Casino: Fancy Small Chair drove me nuts, there is none. There were many Fancy "Tall" Chairs however.

I can confirm that multiple play through will work. started this after the Gas was released, and did 90% of it before the firebombing. I saved at the end, and restarted on that save and got the other 10% and Ding. Thanks for the walk through!
Posted by Nick Kevlar on 21 Oct 10 at 02:44
IWillSmokeYou69there is absolutely Fancy Small Chairs in the Atlantica, there's a bar and about two rows of slot machines and they are the chairs right in front of them..

and lol @ the negative vote
Posted by IWillSmokeYou69 on 22 Oct 10 at 22:53
Phoenix C64is it possible that "Peace Art (plant)" is needed too? it's in the art gallery in palisades.
Posted by Phoenix C64 on 24 Oct 10 at 12:45
IWillSmokeYou69I didn't need it

WolfVelocityConfirmed the Fancy small chair is in the Atlantica Casino. Keep looking there are only a few.....
Posted by WolfVelocity on 31 Oct 10 at 20:57
Ferrara316fancy small chair it is!!!!!!!!! lol
Posted by Ferrara316 on 11 Nov 10 at 03:10
One thing I would mention at the top of your guide instead of "...if you've already made the progress in the game" is "you must complete the cases up to case 4-1".

I didn't know this and let Katey turn and the truth vanished and then I got to the items in the Yucatan Casino where I discovered I needed to have progressed to case 4-1 to get the psychopath to spawn. I'll positive vote once this change is made and I get the achievement.
Posted on 23 Nov 10 at 01:59
Math VAbout the money case, there's a pile of them on the helicopter landing pad on the hotel roof, so you don't necessarily have to pry it from Janus his cold dead hands.
Posted by Math V on 27 Nov 10 at 10:21
It may say you need to make progess, but it doesn't say how far at the top. You made a very detailed guide so don't be so hostile when someone makes a suggestion to make it better.

I shouldn't have to read through an entire guide, especially when its so long, the important information about how far you need to progress in the game should be at the top, not half way down the guide.
Posted on 18 Dec 10 at 19:17
Holy Murderer5Your a cocky POS arnet you - i didnt even get my achievement after following this twice
Posted by Holy Murderer5 on 06 Jan 11 at 23:48
IWillSmokeYou69you probably forgot to save and died.. don't blame me because this has worked for plenty of people
Posted by IWillSmokeYou69 on 07 Jan 11 at 03:59
chalon9great guide. Small chair is in the Atlantica, between the bar and the magic stage. But you probably should also put that they are in the slot ranch by the Giant slot machine. And also the money case can be found on the roof of the fortune hotel, you don't have to necessarily kill Janus.

zbenes674great guide
Posted by zbenes674 on 21 Feb 11 at 01:31
IWillSmokeYou69See? Nuff said. Thank you zbenes. Any other comments on this solution other than a "great guide"; I no longer care of; I finished this game months ago so get off my ass
Posted by IWillSmokeYou69 on 21 Feb 11 at 04:01
Bag o BeefcakeSeems like a nice guide, though I would sort of like a section of weapons that are dropped by psychopath/story objectives/etc..
Other then that, fantastic work man!
Posted by Bag o Beefcake on 21 Feb 11 at 05:15
Bag o BeefcakeGot the achievement using this guide.
Everyone else needs to reread or stop with the obvious trolling.
Posted by Bag o Beefcake on 21 Feb 11 at 22:18
The SilvatungFantastic guide, IWillSmokeYou. Much better when people post lists divided by areas that can be checked off :) Thank you for your time and effort.

@Delow317 You're either a terrible troll or an even worse person. If you don't like the guide, negative vote and use another one.

JediJohnny7Gotta say the other guide is better tbh! That's why im giving you a thumbs down. Plus i hate your arrogance.
Posted by JediJohnny7 on 23 Mar 11 at 09:25
JediJohnny7LOL no need to get all defensive. It's only a guide, its not like it matters. No need to go cry over it. Wow. Besides I didnt attempt to state achievements are important. I'm pretty sure if you put gaming over life then you are a real idiot. So no need to state that. Life comes first, gaming when you have free time.

I am saying this to save other people time, because I'm sorry but your guide contains weapons that are for novelty weapons as well.

Just so people know.... You DONT need to split the manequin apart, just melee with the fully assembled manequinn male and then female.

Also not needed..
FANCY painting
hunks of meat
bucket
money case from Janus
pylon....

But you'd find this out if you used the video guide (I Suggest this).

So I willsmokeyou69 (even your name demonstrates your pitiful arrogance) I am done here actually ;)
Posted by JediJohnny7 on 05 Apr 11 at 08:16
sonnyforpleA problem that I had (not with the guide) was that I was going for the melee and clothing at the same time. In the food court I had put the moose head and bull skull on thinking it was just clothing, then took it off when in fact you need to attack with them. So if this doesn't pop for someone this might be the thing you are missing.

Boss ComplexSouth Plaza:

Glycerin GhostI managed to find the Money Case also in the Americana Casino behind the "Cashier" door behind a desk, Case 3-2: Run for the Money.

EvansCinemasHey iwillsmokeyou69, don't worry about douche bags like Delow317. Th fact that you actually took the time to make a guide makes you better than someone who can only bitch that it is missing some things.
Posted by EvansCinemas on 23 Aug 11 at 19:55
Angelic MarianI must be missing the military case. I've done everything else in a single playthrough. Nice guide, but it could be clearer that you NEED to do the CASE missions to get the military case. I'll have to start over now.

H3L xSHARINGANxWow, some people can be really fucking stupid. Multiple playthroughs means if you score a kill with a weapon, you then have to restart the story on that same save file for the kill to count. As in, press start, go to quit and restart the story from the option. You can't get a kill, save and then load up a different save file. There's no way that could work.

The guide is fine. It works, thanks to the OP for making a definitive list. Delow317 needs to chill the fuck out. It was your execution of the achievement that didn't work, not the guide. You're kind of full of fail as well as misguided anger. Never stopped to think it was you who was wrong? No, of course not. I think it's obvious who's the arrogant one.
Posted by H3L xSHARINGANx on 04 Nov 12 at 14:44
mamaanii just got the acheevo.if you have trouble, Hockey stick have 2 motions(push and swing),you use the swing motion. i got when i use swing motion.

ModifiedMag8I'll agree that there are minor changes that could be made to improve this.

Out of habit I always read every guide fully and all the comments before starting something so I know full well what I am getting into. Should some of the info be at the top? sure.

But if you are looking up a guide it's your responsibility to read it. Even if it is long. For anyone complaining, if you used this and it didn't work for you then you either didn't read it, or you did something wrong. I was skeptical after reading the comments and I think it could be improved, but bottom line is I followed it and I got my achievement.

It's easy to pick apart someone elses guide, but the fact is if you didn't take the time to write it then you owe them some gratitude. Cause they in fact wrote it and posted it with the intent of helping YOU. If you think it's shit, or it didn't work for you you're entitled to your opinion. But maybe you should spend hours and hours on something like this and see how well you do. And if you're not willing to do that, then shut the fuck up.
Posted by ModifiedMag8 on 26 Jun 13 at 19:48
ModifiedMag8And I have to comment about Delow317. The guide didn't work for you, you have nerd rage problems whatever. I really don't care about anything you said or feel for that matter. But.. One comment got to me and I felt the need to comment on this. You're entire "be a man and contact me on live" speech. Are you fucking kidding me? You think joining a party and running your mouth like a lunatic makes you a man? Or someone sending you an invite to waste their time listening to your rambling defines whether or not they are a man? You are sad. Very fucking sad for that matter. It's easy to be a badass when you're typing, or in a party on XBL for that matter. You're posts in here and ideas on how to solve anyone's issue with them has shown all of us just what kind of "man" you are. Fucking pathetic.
Posted by ModifiedMag8 on 26 Jun 13 at 19:55
WiznyattThis thread is pretty ridiculous. Typically the comments are very helpful but this one got away from the point. I haven't started on this yet but I'll probably use this guide to some extent as I'm mid-playthrough and don't want to play this game again. Dead Rising 2 desperately needs a walkthrough.
Posted by Wiznyatt on 11 Jul 13 at 02:02

Posted by RobT II on 14 Jul 13 at 18:12
Ki11erLawnGnomeActually it is just you who sucks because you can't follow a guide properly. There are numerous comments saying this guide works and I used it myself and got the achievement on the PC version. I will be using it again when I play the console version.

RobT III did follow the guide and I found myself running around. Not one lap, I had to come back to the safe house like 3 time. He's guide was not accurate, it was poorly written. Sorry that I'm being honest about it but ya this guide sucks

RobT IIgo a head and reply I will be leaving the guide and moving on with my life.

IWillSmokeYou69Are you people still crying over a guide I wrote three years ago? Clearly there is something wrong with the few people who can't seem to get their achievement. Probably because you died and lost the progress. Are you that mad at a video game?

GeoffistophelesServiceable guide and the comments make for entertaining reading! A few points to add:
The Utility Cart needs to be pushed into zombies to count. Don't know about the Wheelchair and Drink Cart, but you can swing those and not the Utility.
Never saw a Military Case before Case 5-2.
The Fancy Small Chair is much easier to find at the Slot Ranch Casino than the Atlantica.

ptracey1421I was going a little crazy trying to find that last item I missed. Turns out it was a Mailbox! Haha, I thought it was basically the Newspaper Box I guess when I read through the list. Great guide.

Wicked JeiThe frying pan does not count if it's heated. I followed several guides together and was baffled when my achievement did not unlock, then read a post on x360a where someone had it unlock when they used the regular frying pan. I went and tried it and sure enough the achievement popped. I had used the heated frying pan 3 times before...

Legal IntegrityYour message at the end of the guide is rude. You should not use profanity for the sake of any children that may be using this site. Your guide is good, but you have poor judgment and shouldn't write anymore unless you can control yourself.

Mobius EvalonI was losing my mind trying to figure out what I missed. Turns out it was the small potted plant.

Keep track of your plants, folks. I marked it completed by accident somehow because there's like eight other plants.
