There are 151 total characters. They do not all spawn during the final boss fight*. I fought the final boss 6 times killing ~1000 enemies yet I was still missing one pirates. Once I realized that I was missing pirates, I replayed the pirate missions (the first six levels) until I found him.

To find out which ones you are missing, from the Main Menu, select the Choose Character button. You can scroll to the right to see all the characters.

If you are missing a few, look at the characters that are next to the missing ones. Replay those series of levels in order to find the missing characters. If you play like I do, they are likely hiding in the "football"- or the "destroy the object"-type levels. When I played these levels, I largely ignored the enemies.

*Statistically speaking, they do not all spawn during the final boss fight. (Go ahead and calculate 1/(150^1000). It's ridiculously close to zero.)
LV 1 Blue SlimeSound advice. Going back to earlier stages (as you suggest) got me the last two I needed within 5 minutes. I'd spent far more than that farming kills in the final battle without getting either of them...

I can certainly appreciate your frustration! The character you are talking about has a red bandana over his head and a thick black mustache. He was my final character, too. I killed him in the 4th mission or 5th mission but only after playing it many, many times. If you're interested in talking to the developers, they are quite active on Twitter on the account @codeglue.

I doubt that it's an issue with your copy of the game, due to how each application is signed and hashed (I'm a dev myself).

NJDuke007Earlier today, I posted a lengthy comment about how I thought I was screwed because one pirate wouldn't load. I deleted that comment because I emailed the lead designer (Thanks Joost!) and he informed me where that one particular pirate loaded. I felt the need to share because he told me that he hears a lot of people miss this guy. Anyway, if you find you are missing the first pirate on the second page of characters (the top left guy) you can find him on stage 6 (first Blockbeard fight). I had convinced myself he must load on level 3 or 4 because that's where the guys around him (on the character list) spawn....well...not so!

SnailiumThanks NJDuke007, I think the left top corner one of second batch is the most common missing one. I got it on Level 6 as well.

ImayB3urDadIm missing the character on page 6, row 3 column 4. the one next to the soldier w/ the Red Baret and Gas mask. Anybody know what im missing and where i can find it?

thesecondsfadeI think your statistical math is off by a bit. I think the formula would be (1/150)*1000 not (1/150^1000). Statistically, each character would show up 6.67 times out of 1000 spawns in the Final Battle (if indeed the final battle spawns all types of characters, which I'm not sure is true).

CAIT7777777SITHYup, thesecondsfade is right. Using the expectation formula of the Coupon Collecting problem, you would expect to need ~845 trials to obtain all 151 enemies at least once... Not really sure how to calculate variance but I reckon its statistically significant that you didn't find all enemies after 1000 trials, which would suggest that you can't get all the enemies on the last stage.. which is basically what you said :P
