EDIT: Just like real life, not everyone will be interested in you, so if your first choice isn't don't worry, someone else will be.

To obtain this achievement, all you need to do is travel to Riften and find the preacher Maramal. He is most likely at the "Bee and Barb Inn", but sometimes goes to the Temple of Mara to preach there. Talk to him about Mara, and then about marraige. For 200 septims you can purchase "Amulet of Mara", which lets everyone know you are looking.

Now you need to find a partner. Here is a list of available people to wed in the retail version (no DLC):

Now head back to Riften and speak with Maramal again, and he will tell you that your wedding is tomorrow! Wait, do a quest, whatever you wish until the next day, and then head to the Temple of Mara to be married to your chosen girl/guy. The achievement pops after saying I Do.

As always, please explain why you voted negative if you do, because we may be able to help you!

EDIT: The Amulet of Mara can be found in random loot and on certian NPC's, however that version WILL NOT allow you to marry anyone. It will only give you the Restoration effect. You may also not be able to purchase the correct one from Maramal if you are carrying a fake one.

Note: Most of the time you will need to preform some sort of quest for the person to make them like you enough.
Hans cabooseJust a quick Comment.
If you don't have the money you can find the amulet for free. Travel alont the coast eastwards from Dawnstar Sanctuary and you will find a small tent with a few bedrolls and clutter in it. On one of the bedrolls is an Amulet of Mara.

Zacry072Can you marry the housecarl Lydia? She's with me just about everywhere I go as it is so she would be perfect.
Posted by Zacry072 on 14 Nov 11 at 20:40
AidenkaelLydia should be marriagable.
Posted by Aidenkael on 15 Nov 11 at 01:34
Shad0wdarAfter the companion questline you can marry all of them.
Posted by Shad0wdar on 15 Nov 11 at 20:47
count023Lydia is glitched, not everyone can marry her.
Posted by count023 on 15 Nov 11 at 22:43
AidenkaelLydia is not glitched. I just married her in a different game. See my edit on not everyone being interested in everyone.

IceWolfOfAlaskaAela is confirmed :P I can marry her as a girl character I haven't tried as male (choose a girl because brotherhood armor looks gay on guys)
Posted by IceWolfOfAlaska on 16 Nov 11 at 04:09
ADaughenThanks for checking on that IceWolf.

Can you equip them and bring them along on quests? Or are they just for "well rested status"?
Posted by ADaughen on 16 Nov 11 at 17:30
AidenkaelThey open shop wherever you settle, and you can get a far amount of gold from them :P. You can't take them on quests tho (except maybe Lydia, but I haven't tested that).

TorminatoronMarriage is bugged for me :( Lydias corpse just appears and Vilkas leaves in disgust!
Posted by Torminatoron on 17 Nov 11 at 19:22
SashaQyou can get an amulet of mara during the thieves guild initiation in the marketplace when you are supposed to break into that argonian's jewelry stand and steal her ring. I found the amulet in there less than five minutes after buying one from the temple, which was quite disappointing. It was only 200 gold, but still.
Posted by SashaQ on 18 Nov 11 at 16:17
AidenkaelIs that container random loot? Because it wasn't in there for me.
Posted by Aidenkael on 18 Nov 11 at 16:43
DUSTIFUSHmm. May not be working for me. I bought the Amulet of Mara from Maramal and it is the restoration decreased by 10%. Is this one the wrong one?? I have no marriage dialogue options when I talk to people so far.
Posted by DUSTIFUS on 20 Nov 11 at 15:36
DUSTIFUSDisregard, I just got it.
Posted by DUSTIFUS on 20 Nov 11 at 19:19
ADaughen@Torminatoron, supposedly you can use the Shout and blast her out of the way.

@DUSTIFUS, I had that problem too. I did NPCs favors prior to getting the info on marriage so they possibly "forgot" I did them favors. :/

I ended up marrying Moth gro-Bagol - Orc from Markarth (Understone Keep blacksmith). :/ The big guy won't even cook me a decent meal.

Edgrr Allan BroStill gave you the thumbs up for all the other information but you are mistaken about the amulet. Any amulet of Mara will allow you to get married as long as you have spoke to Maramal for the significance of marriage. I tested this myself.
