As a fan of the original NES version I eagerly awaited the release of this game. I bought it the day it came out and was instantly disappointed that there was no xbox live co-op or multiplayer. Only local split screen co-op. It did however split the screen in an interesting way. If you and your partner are close it's just one screen, as you separate it zooms out a little until it eventually splits. Horizontally if your above/below your partner and vertically if more the left/right separation. It was a little disorienting but I'm sure it could have been adjusted to, I just did not play much co-op. Single player wise the game is excellent. It defiantly holds true to the original. The sounds, the action, the grappling arm all do their job in making you feel like your playing the original with better graphics. It's not a direct copy however and there is no old school graphics mode, which would have been nice IMO. For that sacrifice we are granted some new weapons. Over all the game was a good homage to the original, not one of those horrible remakes. The biggest disappointment in this game for me is still not being able to play with my friends via co-op on xbox live. I cross my fingers at some point that coop will be added by DLC. With coop added I would give Bionic Commando: Rearmed a 10/10, as is though simply for lack of online coop I give it a 9/10.
Review provided as-is, and is completely opinion on experience.
