You need to earn 20 GOLD medals. The challenge description says 20 medals, but our esteemed community members have found they only make progress on the challenge with GOLD medals (thanks to Stealth David and HobbesOnFire). Go to multiplayer (any mode) with one of these cars (DLC packs in parenthesis):

American Street Muscle
1957 Chevrolet Bel Air (Meguiar's Pack)
1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS-396 (Meguiar's Pack)
1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS-454
1970 Chevrolet El Camino SS 454
1964 Chevrolet Impala SS 409 (IGN pack)
1966 Chevrolet Nova SS (Smoking Tire pack)
1969 Chevrolet Nova SS 396
1969 Dodge Charger R/T (LaFerrari pack)
1970 Dodge Coronet Super Bee (Bondurant)
1968 Dodge Dart HEMI Super Stock (Meguiar's Pack)
1940 Ford De Luxe Coupe (Meguiar's Pack)
1956 Ford F-100 (Hot Wheels pack)
1968 Oldsmobile Hurst/Olds 442
1969 Pontiac GTO Judge

You might want to stay away from the Fords; they're kind of old and under-performers compared to the rest.

My preferred method is drag racing, since the races are short and done in rapid succession. However you may have a hard time suiting up your car from the 1960s to contend with the newer, faster cars. In this case, I'd recommend low-classing your car in drag racing (with a drag tune). For those of you not familiar with this method it works like this:

1. All cars in the drag racing hopper are paired together based on class starting from the top class to the low class.

1a. In an 8 player drag race, the highest 8 class cars race against each other. The rest of the cars race in a separate race.
1b. In a 2 player drag race, the highest 2 class cars race against each other, then the next 2 race against each other, and so on...

2. Even if you are the lowest class car in a drag race, you may still get a gold medal.

2a. In an 8 player drag race, you are guaranteed a gold medal if you are the lowest class car and there are 9 players in the hopper lobby when the race starts (you are put in the second batch of racers, and guaranteed a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place medal).
2b. In a 2 player drag race, you are guaranteed a gold medal if you are the lowest class car and there are an odd number of racers in the hopper lobby when the race starts (you get put in a race of your own, and are guaranteed a gold medal).

3. Even if the scenarios in 2 above don't work, sometimes people idle, collide, or are just slower than you so you may still earn a gold medal.

Note: For drag racing I recommend turning off all assists. You won't be turning, braking, following a suggested line, or worrying about damage, so you can earn yourself a few extra credits. You can also turn on automatic transmission, put a rubber band around the accelerator, and not have to pay much attention to the races if you like (though you'll perform worse). If you do that, you may want to at least put on TCS to prevent lurching at the start.

Otherwise, you're welcome to attempt to gold medal in any of the other multi-player categories. You could try combining this challenge with other achievements, too. Just take a look at the achievement list (specifically the Nurburgring and Long Beach DLC achievements). If you want to help out your fellow community members with paint or tune credits, you can let them know in the comments below. Remember, this challenge only lasts until August 5, 2014.

Cheers and happy racing! toast
XtowersBTW, if anyone who needs community credits has a D-class drag tune and/or paint job for the 1970 Dodge Coronet Super Bee, that's what I'll be racing soon. Just let me know here in the comments.

ziplobthudgood solution fella, tried to do it earlierin private onlines and no joy, anyway just shared a paint to use, classic style, search zip racing or file called Zip 88 Super Bee.
got paints for approx 80 cars, but try to make them all unique.

XtowersHey, thanks zip. I see you already have the credit achievements earned, but I'll use your paint unless someone else still needs those achievements.

HobbesOnFireNot getting a count towards this challenge unless it's gold

ValikWhen drag racing you usually want TCS off. Your time will be better if you let the tires spin until they bite rather than relying on TCS to cut power until you achieve grip. For example, I once left TCS on when running my Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale and my drag times were as much as three tenths slower. Given that these cars aren't nearly as overpowered as the 33 Stradale I'd recommend changing your text so people who don't know aren't needlessly hurting their runs. A tenth or two is easily the difference between a bronze and no medal in an 8-player race.

Of course, your mileage may vary depending on the car as it is possible some (poorly tuned) cars may benefit from TCS but in general it should be off for drag racing.

HobbesOnFire@stealth yes it does I'm using it

HobbesOnFireDid you get gold?
Posted by HobbesOnFire on 02 Jul 14 at 18:10
Stealth DavidGuide or challenge doesn't say you need gold
Posted by Stealth David on 02 Jul 14 at 18:12
HobbesOnFireJust answer the question lol

I only get it to count if I get a gold.
Doesn't count if I get silver or bronze

Stealth DavidYes gold only guide is wrong

XtowersWow, you guys are blowing up my inbox!

@Stealth David, please keep me posted on the medal issue. Have you tried other cars? Have you gotten a variety of medals?

@Vampire Valik, thank you for the tip. I'll include it in the solution. I usually keep TCS on to prevent lurching to one side at the start, but that's because I don't really like to pay attention or fiddle with steering.
Posted by Xtowers on 02 Jul 14 at 18:29
XtowersStealth David, just saw your last post. I'll update the guide. Thank you for confirming the issue! <3

HobbesOnFireI careclap

XtowersHaha, HobbesOnFire, you pointed out the issue, Stealth David confirmed it. :P

I gave both of you credit in the solution. :D

Maybe drag racing isn't the best now, since it is only gold medals. It would still work, but boosting with a friend would probably be way faster (though you have to pay more attention, I gather).

Stealth DavidWell I gave a thumbs up now good guide
Posted by Stealth David on 02 Jul 14 at 18:39
XtowersThanks man! Team effort! I also included a small snippet about boosting with a friend. In theory it should work, but I haven't tested it myself. I'm giving it a test tonight, hopefully.
Posted by Xtowers on 02 Jul 14 at 18:47
UP JohnnyI tested it a couple of minutes ago. Drag boosting works.
Posted by UP Johnny on 03 Jul 14 at 20:31
XtowersWere you boosting with a friend? Were you both getting gold medals? How many drivatars were you using?
Posted by Xtowers on 03 Jul 14 at 20:33
TheTrueSteinJust tried doing this solo on private MP session, circuit race with 15 drivatars (Long Beach West if that makes any difference), it's not counting the medals toward percentage.
Posted by TheTrueStein on 03 Jul 14 at 23:34
XtowersYeah. You don't get medals for solo private matches, I thought.
Posted by Xtowers on 04 Jul 14 at 00:21
UP JohnnyA friend. 14 drivatars. Drag races. You have to do 40 heats as only the winning player gets gold.
Posted by UP Johnny on 04 Jul 14 at 01:00
TheTrueSteinThere were quite a few multiplayer achievements that you could complete solo... I guess that doesn't apply here. Time to get a buddy or two together for this one and bang out 20 one-lap races on Long Beach West.

HolyHalfDeadA stock 1970 Chevrolet El Camino SS 454 auto upgraded to B 600 wins easily, even without drag tyres!
