When you pause the game, the top-right symbol under your Stats on the upper right side shows how many times you have revived at a Soul Link. This is the trigger for the achievement, so keeping it at zero is the goal.

If you die and respawn, you'll see the count go up by one. If you've already respawned it's usually too late. However, if you die and can QUICKLY hit start and pause the game, and exit to the main menu fast enough before you respawn, you can reload your last save and your counter should still be zero.

I would advise making a backup of your 0 deaths save file by copying it to another slot every 15 or 30 minutes, because it would suck to lose an hour or more of work if you're working off of only one save slot.

I can confirm this method works, as long as you quit out quick enough after dying that when you reload your save the counter in the top-right of the pause menu still says zero. I just got the achievement doing it this way.

If you don't want to risk quitting to the menu and reloading after deaths, even if the counter still reads zero, I would advise to go ahead and delete your main file and revert to the 'backup' save every death, but back up your save more frequently so you don't lose a ton of progress.

I had a zero death video here, but I took it down because apparently 30 seconds of "eye of the tiger" is the reason people watched a 90 minute video, SMFH @ copyright strikes. Instead, I've included my One Life mode run from the definitive edition. I didnt go to the new area in this run, so it is 99.9% identical to my original zero death run. The successful run starts at 1hr 34mins in this video.

FireRaiser1985 Great if it works, still tedious though.
Doing it the "legit" way seems impossible to me.
I think I have died like 500 times, and now I am in the end of the game... Not gonna spoil anyting, but I starting to hate this game because of this part... RAGE QUiT!

LifeExpectancy It should work. Worst case scenario if it doesn't work, then whenever you die you just have to delete the save you're playing on, make a copy of your 'backup' save, and play from the copy until you make some progress and make a new backup.

FireRaiser1985 Yeah, I understand. I will try it sometimes. :)

UnlikeKaiju I can confirm this does work! I just unlocked it by doing this method... I had two saves, a current save and a backup save which I used to overwrite my current if I died so both were identical and my death was not counted and kept repeating every time I died, even at times I don't think the death counted because I was leaving the game quick but I still used the backup just to be sure. Sucked though because my first play through trying for this Achievement the game glitched out at the very end on both my saves and if it hadn't I would of been 3rd to achieve this.. but I got 6th anyway just now xD

I also completed it under 3 hours for the Supersonic achievement, however the Elite achievement for not using an ability point did not unlock for me.. Not a single ability is unlocked in my backup save still.. does anyone know why the achievement did not pop?

Yin I too am in the midst of my deathless run. I'm at 73%, but I wanted to mention that I drowned at a checkpoint when I was focused on something going on in my room. I had respawned and noticed that I still had zero deaths. I'm not sure whether this voids the achievement, so keep an eye out.

Loxim Could someone inform me or post a link how to backup your save file on xbox one? I'm not able to figure it out.

ImaginaryRuins @Loxim

You cant backup save files on the X1, BUT, you can do so inside this game in the main menu just as you load the game. Press START, then choose a save file, then press X to copy and paste to another slot. There are 10 ingame slots.

LifeExpectancy Oh crap yeah I took that vid down ages ago because of copyright BS with the eye of the tiger song. I'll put in my zero death one from the definitive edition. It shouldnt change anything for this version because I didnt go to the new area in it, although some of the life/energy/ability cells might be slightly different.
