There is a moment early in the game where Shantae's Uncle describes the 4 playstyles of an adventurer.

Basically what he means by his description there are people who Complete the game, People who complete the game 100%, People who Speed run the game Any%, and people who Speed Run the game 100%

This achievement is for pulling off a 100% Speed Run.

This game considers a 100% speed run as

All Squid Hearts Collected (They don't need to be melted)
All Dark Magic Collected.
All Abilities Purchased from the Shop
Beating the game Under 3 Hours. (An extra Hour than Any% Speed Run)

I recommend you attempt this achievement on New Game+ (Pirate Mode).

On Pirate Mode Shantae starts with all of the Pirate Weapons which makes skipping a lot of areas very possible.

Here are some tricks that will help you shave off time on your speed run.

NOTE: Don't OOB glitch skipping the petrify spell on the 100% run only on the any% run

WhiterValkyrieThat was not under 2h30 ? All that stress for nothing XD

I beat it in 2h24 but i was in front of the final boss when i figured that all abilities was also needed ! Backtracking and collecting money to buy all and come back at the end in 15-20 min is a good challenge but very stressfull !
Posted by WhiterValkyrie on 20 Mar 16 at 16:10
New ParalyzerHaha yeah you totally had some spare time left over.

I made hella mistakes and I ended with 2h and 50min.

You should be glad that you had such a good time on your run haha smile

Groudon199I finished in 2:07 with only the back-and-forth-charging exploit (on all 3 playthroughs, I couldn't get the tower skip to work). If you use the map on GameFAQs to work out a route to get everything and use the room in Tan Line Temple with 8 vases for money grinding, it's not too difficult.
Posted by Groudon199 on 21 Mar 16 at 21:48
New ParalyzerThere is also another spot on Saliva Island that is great money farming I've yet to make a video on.

Yeah this game isn't too difficult at all. For TA though I don't expect ever person to rock an under 2:30:00 run especially if they are struggling at some sections. I hope with a little practice anyone who wants the 1k can find a route they can handle without stressing out.

Angus McFife PTYou aren't allowed to fuck up much if you aim to do this and the other speed run achievement in one playthrough.

Just did that using the fastest speed runner I could find on YouTube (1:20h... No upgrades though). Beat the game at 1:55h, but saved my game at nearly every chance I could.

Doc ChopperJust unlocked this trophy at PS4. In terms of money grinding: Do as in this video.
60 gems in 15 seconds. More effective & time saving gem farming is not possible in this game.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNeCb7vGFB0

Finished it in 2:48 without any glitches or exploits.

Also: Backing up your save files to USB and/or Cloud regularly is always a good option too in case you think you messed up something.
Posted by Doc Chopper on 21 Aug 16 at 21:55
New ParalyzerYeah, I keep meaning to make a video of the better gem farming spot but I just never get around to it lol.

hells0bathroomi've seen this achievement on ps trophies as a 4 h max run. can anyone confirm this? which one is wrong and which is right or is there a difference between XB1 and PS4?
Posted by hells0bathroom on 10 Dec 16 at 03:08
New ParalyzerMost websites say 2 hours which is wrong. I learned everything from the speed running community. 4 hours is a pretty forgiving time for a speed run. Try it if you'd like.

Hairy CabbageI just beat the game with all hearts + all magic in 1:50, i got the any% 2 hour achievement but didnt unlock the 100% achievement. any ideas?
Posted by Hairy Cabbage on 11 Dec 16 at 22:26
Hairy CabbageEdit: oh wait, i didn't buy all abilities from the shop. my bad :)
Posted by Hairy Cabbage on 11 Dec 16 at 22:26
New ParalyzerGlad you figured it out.

segagamerIf you manage to beat the game under 2 hours for the speed run achievement, and then continue it after completion to get 100% in under 3 hours, are you still able to get this achievement without having to do a full playthrough?
Posted by segagamer on 24 May 17 at 22:04
New ParalyzerI've been told you can.
Posted by New Paralyzer on 24 May 17 at 23:24
AwooI'm at the end of my run, where you're supposed to have 97% before the final boss, but I only have 93%. I have all squids, all dark magic, and I've bought everything from the shop. I even went and collected a missing map to see if that would add anything, which it did not. The only reason I can think of that could have caused this was that I used the OoB glitch to enter the Saliva Island dungeon early, thus missing out on ever getting the Ring/Ham Stink/Petrify Spell. If those add to your %, then... there you go, I guess. Very nice of you to screw me over like that, can't wait to do another playthrough of this trash.

I've just finished my any% and 100% speedrun on the same save file so I can confirm it is doable. The only glitches I used are the running trick and the tower section skipping jumps. During my any% run I gathered everything that was in my way or at least not too far from the speedrun route. It took me 1h54 (save-before-boss time). 2h45 for the 100%.
As Awoo stated you better stay away from the Oob glitch on Saliva Island. Sorry for you mate I know this must be a pain to start all over again :/
Posted by jamuray on 27 May 17 at 12:03
AwooYes, I just did another run, with the only difference being no OoB, and this time it worked fine. 100% in 1:55, and it honestly didn't even feel that fast laugh I did leave a downvote on this, but I'll happily remove that if a warning about the glitch is added.
Posted by Awoo on 27 May 17 at 13:03
New ParalyzerI'm looking into it right now. I guess you can't use OOB glitch to skip those items.... Weird, I must have learned about the glitch after getting the achievement or something because I use it every time I run this game.
Posted by New Paralyzer on 27 May 17 at 16:38
segagamerI can confirm that after beating the game with hardly any upgrades in 1:32 to unlock the speedrun achievement, I was able to go back, collect everything quickly and beat it 100% in 2:38. The only exploit I used was the Risky Boots glitch.

New ParalyzerNice. Good job on the run

Posted by J ROLLER 1979 on 02 Jun 17 at 20:10
AwooAll hair whip upgrades, all pistol/scimitar upgrades, all special moves. Basically anything that's not a consumable, not sure how that's hard to understand.
Posted by Awoo on 02 Jun 17 at 20:13
J ROLLER 1979Thank you now, I know and there is no need to be nasty

YinThis was much easier than I anticipated. Finished both runs in the same playthrough, picking up a majority of the items during my two hour run. It's useful to keep Pirate Flares in your inventory to quickly return to the ship. Doing so consistently after finishing the dungeons saves precious minutes (some of which you can spend stocking up on items, saving, or goofing up later on).

When in the Cackle Tower on Spiderweb Island, be sure to grab all three keys before leaving and only open the one door that is required to reach the boss room. Those two keys can later be used to skip the stealth section (you get a third key on the way). Bypassing the whole stealth section also saves a good amount of time.

Any % Time: 01:39:21
100% Time: 02:20:03

New ParalyzerNice times.

OldMateClownJust to confirm the area maps you find in each dungeon are not necessary is that correct?
Posted by OldMateClown on 08 Aug 17 at 14:29
OldMateClownJust answered that for myself. Heads up though, you actually get at least 3.5 hours to get the 100% run done.
Posted by OldMateClown on 08 Aug 17 at 16:23
Inferno118Phew they had me scared, with the achievement not popping until after the credits. Just scraped by, 2:52:00
Posted by Inferno118 on 27 Aug 18 at 01:47
qManballinMan, I suck at these side-scrolling games. I basically followed New Paralyzer's speed run video and grabbed only the Cacklebats and Squids near the path. Was too busy grinding and almost screwed up my time for the 100% speed run. Scraped by in the end.

So I used the same speed run file to go back and collect all the squids and bats, leaving 1 bat alive to do the Squid Savior achievement easier. Time at this point was around 2:44 and ~95%. Reloaded save file after achievement unlocked, got the missing bat, saved at top of the tower with 2:52 and 97%. Panicked when I saw my 1st playthrough was 100% and my "100% speed run" was only at 97%. Apparently, it doesn't go full 100% until you've beaten the game with the save file? Anyways, it's showing up 100% now. Cheers for all the guides you've put up @New Paralyzer.

Any % - 1:31:27 (67%)
100% Run - 2:58:08

DmCTHREE6Does the timer stop if you pause the game, or if you go to your home screen? I'm having trouble trying to follow a guide while playing, it seems I'm using more time than I want.
Posted by DmCTHREE6 on 29 May 19 at 00:11
New ParalyzerI'm pretty sure pausing doesn't stop the game timer. It's been a long time since I've played but I'm almost positive.
Posted by New Paralyzer on 29 May 19 at 00:33
DOZER383What I would recommend is probably watching a section up till a boss (has to be fast since its a speedrun, right ;) ) then doing that and hitting a save on your way to the next one, and quiting the game. This should allow you to watch a speedrun guide and not count on the timer because the timer should only run when the save file is loaded. I haven't attempted this yet. About to though but I don't see why this wouldn't work.
Posted by DOZER383 on 29 May 19 at 20:45
New ParalyzerThat's one way to do it. There is a lot of room for error so you don't need to do anything perfect. That's why in my recorded run I didn't sweat the small stuff because I wasn't going for a great Speedrun time just a time acceptable for the achievement.

If you feel you need a break to watch the run then saving and quiting is fine. You'll see your total time on the save file so you'll know if you take too long.
Posted by New Paralyzer on 29 May 19 at 20:53
New ParalyzerThey are separate. There is an achievement for the First fight and the True form.
Posted by New Paralyzer on 29 May 19 at 22:34
DOZER383Thank you. I just finished the 2 hour run with a time of 1:32. I will now work on getting the 100% items and finish it again. I followed your video and it was a big help.

I was wondering if I will be able to beat him after getting all items for it to count. One person above complained about not being able to get a "Ring/Ham Stink/Petrify Spell" by doing an OOB glitch.

As I followed your video, I don't believe you did that glitch as I got the ham stink and petrify. I don't remember a ring though. Do you know if there is such a ring or was the OP of that comment mistaken?
Posted by DOZER383 on 30 May 19 at 02:14
New ParalyzerYou can't get the petrify spell without the ring.

You're fine.

You can get the 100% and if you still have enough time left you can get the achievement.

Some people claim you have longer than 3 hours. It could be possible you have 3.5 hours. All my information comes from the Shantae speed running community. It's possible they were wrong or wayforward changed the requirement. I really couldn't tell you.
Posted by New Paralyzer on 30 May 19 at 05:26
DOZER383Thanks. I just got the 100% speedrun finished. My times were 1:32 for 2 hour run, 2:37 for total of 100% run. Now I just have to beat the final form of the pirate boss flawlessly and I'll have finished my first Shantae game I have ever played.

So far I have enjoyed the series A LOT more than I initially thought I would. Definitely getting the next game in the series off of xbox game pass. Have you made guides for that game too (Half-Genie Hero I believe it is called)?
Posted by DOZER383 on 30 May 19 at 05:44
New ParalyzerI started too but real life got me busy. I didn't make many.
Posted by New Paralyzer on 30 May 19 at 06:11
DOZER383ah. Do you plan to get and make guides for Shantae five when that comes out? Your guides were really good. Finished the last boss flawlessly with the positioning in your guide to that fight.

One thing that could make them better is to make the videos off stream. (It seemed like a lot of videos were from a stream as you were talking alot but there was no chat replay.) This would allow you to make achievement specific advice and give specific information on what you are doing or why you are doing it if a speed run or other more advanced achievement is needed. This would allow you to not require a specific glitch guide if you explain how to do it early in a related speed run guide for example.
Posted by DOZER383 on 30 May 19 at 06:20
New ParalyzerHonestly I didn't like the last Shantae (4) as much as I love this one (3)

So I'm really hoping 5 is good because I am interested in it.
Posted by New Paralyzer on 30 May 19 at 08:29
I Boz lI tested it and i can confirm that the timer stops when pausing the game. This will make things even easier if you're following a video guide
Posted by I Boz l on 02 Jun 20 at 09:06
Leech lordJust got this achievement while going for the "Squid Savior". I beat the game 100% in 3:13:38 so I can confirm you have more than 3 hours. Can also confirm the timer stops when you pause the game.
Posted by Leech lord on 19 Dec 20 at 14:50
New ParalyzerOriginally the times were taken from I believe steam, and also I was also hanging out with the Shantae speed runners during the time I made all these guides.

Doing some googling people also post different times.

So this version might be different than steam. You need the speedrun to unlock the wallpapers so for people who played the for example the Wii U version they weren't going for an achievement just the wallpaper itself. It's possible nobody ever really knew the correct time requirements lol
