Halo 5: Guardians

Halo 5 Walkthrough Banner

Hello and welcome to the TrueAchievements walkthrough for Halo 5: Guardians. The 6th mainline entry in the series (not counting ODST and considering Reach as a mainline entry), Halo 5 is the tenuous tale of two time-tested Spartans, one a Spartan II (the hallowed Master Chief), and the other a Spartan IV (the by-the-book Locke). Be warned, spoilers below.

Halo 5 follows a split path, similar to Halo 2, wherein we alternate between playing as Locke and Team Osiris, hunting down the Chief, and playing as Master Chief and Blue Team, chasing after an elusive clue that Cortana still lives. As far as Oni (and Locke) are concerned, the Chief has gone rogue and must be brought in. Meanwhile, the Chief will stop at nothing so long as Cortana may be "alive" (as much as an AI can be alive, at any rate).

Not to get too review-y, I will say that I feel Halo 5 is probably the best entry in the series to date, as far as the campaign goes anyway. The levels, while not huge in scope, do give the player a much greater sense of freedom and traversal options than Halo 4 did, and the environments in some levels have so much majesty to them that one cannot help but stop and stare. The skyboxes, as always, give the sense of a large-scale war raging around the player, that he/she is but one part of, albeit a LARGE one, given the superhero status of Spartans.

The multiplayer is going to be a mixed bag, because Halo means a lot of different things to different people. Some may not like the changes made to the multiplayer space, similar to the outcry that was heard with Reach's Armor Abilities, but 343i has made a very concerted effort to evolve the multiplayer, while still turning it back toward its competitive roots. Even starts, power weapons on the map, and balanced gunplay in Arena stand a solid chance to make it a truly competitive space again, with a high skill curve. The unlimited sprint, clamber, and thrust packs may seem like they'll make it too fast-paced for a Halo game, but these changes are in keeping with the times. While at sometimes it does, in fact, feel a little too fast for Halo, the fact remains that the core feel is still there, much moreso than Reach and Halo 4 felt, and the return to a more competitive playspace in Arena means a lot of old fans may find something new to love. For the more casual base, Warzone offers up a new and different experience, a sort of combination of Reach's Firefight and Big Team Battle from Halo's PvP space from Halo 3 onward.

Saddle up, Spartans, and get ready for a bumpy ride.

Chief

Wow.... where to start. Halo veterans, a word of warning here. This isn't your momma's Halo. What I mean by that is enemies are much, much harder to kill in this one. It is harder to score headshots on Grunts and Jackals now, harder to stagger enemies (shield Jackals are a PITA now), and some new enemy types have been introduced that will prove to be the bane of your existence. This may be the first Halo where, in my opinion, some people simply will not be able to finish on Solo Legendary without a lot of luck. So... onto the tips.

1. Staggering Jackals is easier with human weapons, for whatever reason. Also, shoot at their feet rather than the gap in their shield, as this leads to more consistent staggers, allowing the headshot.

2. Charged Plasma Pistol shots do absolutely jack against the Promethean soldiers/knights/guards. Don't waste your time. The Promethean Suppressor gun, however, is surprisingly useful now, as its bullets track the enemies to an extent. The same holds true to the Boltshot to a lesser extent. They are remniscent of the Needler from Halo 2.

3. Speaking of which, the Needler sucks. Don't even pick it up.

4. Plasma Pistol + Headshot is still a good way to take out Elites, but the stronger Elites will require more than a single full-charged EMP to drop their shields.

5. When facing Promethean Knights (the big bastards with huge/fat heads and glowing shoulder pads), ALWAYS shoot their weak spot, or you're just wasting ammo. Blow off one shoulder, then try to get a headshot when the face opens. If you fail, destroy the other shoulder and try again. If you continue to fail, their face armor will eventually be destroyed. They also have a weak spot on their back if you're playing co-op.

6. KILL WATCHERS FIRST. This is more crucial now than in Halo 4 even. The watchers are mean little bastards now that will regenerate the larger Promethean enemies' armor very quickly. Next, deal with Crawlers, and finally mop up the largest enemies last. The Crawlers have a tendency to swarm you, so once Watchers are down it's best to clear the area before dealing with the big guys.

7. Wardens..... where to begin. If you're struggling with these bastards on Legendary, try to find a safe corner to hide in and keep directing your ally Spartans to attack them if you're solo. They'll die, and take forever to respawn, but they will eventually respawn. The very first fight against a Warden is probably the hardest one to use this tactic on, as there really aren't any safe places, what with all the additional enemies spawning everywhere. Try to shoot their back if you can, as it is the quickest way to take them down. The suppressor is a decent gun against these guys. Technically you CAN brute-force them to death by just shooting their face rather than their weak spot, but it takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r.

Campaign Playthrough(s)

As HolyHa1fDead.htm suggested in the forum, I'd like to mention here that the most efficient route to the campaign achievements is as follows: Playthrough 1 co-op Heroic, and Playthrough 2 solo Legendary. I've arranged this page starting with the solo run, with co-op at the bottom, but it is likely that you'll get many of the miscellaneous achievements without much difficulty while doing your co-op Heroic run, so you may want to start out with that. There are achievements for each of the difficulties, but they are stackable, leaving only the co-op Heroic and solo Legendary achievements as the determining factor for playthroughs.

All Intel & Skulls in Chronological Order

Mission 1 - Osiris

For collectibles, Mission 1 starts at 00:07 in the video. From the start, head forward past the dying Elite and look to your right. Near a dead grunt and a couple of boxes, you'll find the Intel #1/7 for the mission, and unlock:

Conspiracy Theory

Find and claim one piece of Intel.

Continue on from the first intel and through the first area of fighting with enemies. When you come out of the tunnels where you chased the two Knights, look down over a ledge to your left to find intel #2/7 for the mission. From here, continue on fighting in the ravine. Before you reach the doorway exit to the ravine, there is a ledge up to the right where you can find intel #3/7 for the mission. It's positioned sort of in the middle of the ravine, but off to the right slightly when facing the exit, and is fairly close to the exit. There is a carbine laying on this ledge, and you can see the exit, as well as the skull, standing on it. Once you've cleared the enemies in the area, head to the cliff ledge to the left of the exit when facing it. On the very edge of the cliff, looking out over the skybox, you will find the IWHBYD skull and unlock:

Gravedigger

Find and claim a Skull.

Carry on through the tunnels after grabbing the skull. You'll come out into an icy/snowy area in tones of mostly blue and white. Once you cross the first room of this area and under some hanging ice, look on a low ledge near the bottom of the next area for intel #4/7. Shortly after this you will reach an area where you get a checkpoint and see an Elite General straight in front of you with some other Covenant around him. They're all under fire from Prometheans on the ledges above. You must protect this Elite for an achievement. Unfortunately, he is not a friendly and WILL attack you if he notices you (although he is usually busy with the Prometheans). This must be done on HEROIC difficulty. Also, while the achievement IS attainable solo, and I will show you a video of doing it solo, it is VASTLY easier in co-op, especially 4-player co-op if you can swing it.

At any rate, what you need to do is rush ahead Rambo-style and wreck the Prometheans before they kill the Elite General. He must make it to the top of the hill, and if he reaches the greyish-blue platform at the top of the hill without dying, the achievement will unlock immediately, even if you are bleeding out when he steps foot onto the platform. The trick to doing it solo is to CONSTANTLY direct your fellow Spartans forward with the command button. Try to direct them to attack the Promethean Guards/Soldiers, as the Covenant can deal with the Crawlers pretty easily. There are TWO Elites here, so don't get confused by the blue one. The one you need to keep alive is the brownish-gold one. When you reach the area, save your checkpoint in case he dies and you get another checkpoint, so you can quit out and load your saved one. If you're lucky enough to get another checkpoint halfway-up the hill or near the top like I did in the video, save that checkpoint in a different slot, then check and see if he's still alive. If he is, carry on. If not, revert back to the checkpoint at the start of the area. This one is a royal pain to do solo, but it is doable. If you manage to get him to the platform at the top of the hill alive, you'll unlock:

Enemy of my Enemy

Help the Elite General charge the hill in Osiris on Heroic difficulty.

Also, near the top of the hill on the right hand side near the cliff edge, you'll find Intel #5/7. Step into the corridors, and in the room with the windows where you're told that a new kind of Promethean Knight is around, you'll find Intel #6/7 near the window that is facing out onto the skybox. Carry on, and when you reach a large interior room where you'll fight a large group of Prometheans, with some Covenant weapons crates scattered around, look off to the right-hand side of the room on a small ledge to find intel #7/7 for the mission. From there just complete the mission any way you see fit.

At the end of the mission you'll unlock:

Mission 2 - Blue Team

For collectibles, Mission 2 starts at 02:30.

From the beginning of the mission, head forward down into the hangar bay and follow the catwalk around. When you come back into the corridors, you'll see a terminal with a blueish-green display straight ahead at the end of the catwalk/entrance to the corridors. Activate this for Intel #1/8. Continue on and you'll pass through a room with a couple of Grunts that you can kill stealthily. Upon entering the next room - where some Grunts, Jackals, and Elites are patrolling, head straight to the end from where you enter (Jackals will be on your left) to find another terminal for Intel #2/8. Continue on through the mission, and you'll come to a very large open area with tons of enemies. At the end of this area, just before you exit onto the catwalk where the Hunter smashes the floor out from under you (you'll have a waypoint for Central Control and hear "Central Control is just beyond this bay"), climb the boxes to your right to find a well-hidden datapad for Intel #3/8. Once you've reached the series of long, dark corridors and are headed down to level three, make sure to take the left-side fork in the path each time. One of these leads to a hole in the floor through which you can drop down to the next level. A sign beside this hole reads "OP SEC B", to make sure you're at the right one. Drop through this hole and exit out into the room. Look at a 45-degree angle to your right upon exiting to see a hole in the opposite wall behind some boxes. Through this hole is a datapad for Intel #4/8.

You'll pass through a corridor that looks out onto the space skybox, where you'll see some sort of black hole/slipstream opening. Upon exiting this corridor into the next room, you'll hear "ship's reactor core is near here". Right in front of you is another terminal for Intel #5/8. Shortly after that, you'll come down an elevator and a Hunter will smash the glass in front of you. A datapad is in the center of this room with the two Hunters for Intel #6/8. DO NOT KILL THESE HUNTERS. Run to the datapad, then to the far side of the room and activate one of the round pillars to open the exit. Do this so that you fight these two Hunters at the end of the mission with the rest of the Covenant reinforcements to unlock the Thought I'd Lost You achievement. Carry on with the mission, and when you reach the room with all the teal-colored lighting, with tons of Covenant scattered all around (including a couple on turrets on the far side), look to the immediate left on the ground level where you enter to find a terminal for Intel #7/8.

This room also has the mission's skull. On the same side of the room as the terminal/intel, climb some boxes to get up to the upper walkway. You should see a weapons locker nearby here. From here, climb up some more onto a pipe above that runs around the room. Turn right onto this pipe, and follow it around to the corner of the room. Jump and use your thrust-dash to get to the area over in the corner. You'll see some metal grating on the floor. Jump up and use your ground-pound maneuver to smash through it and find a hidden red-light room, containing the Blackeye Skull. Continue on, and once you finish the large outside portion where there are Banshees all around and vents you have to destroy, you'll exit into some corridors leading to the final room. Once you reach these corridors, before the final room, a door will open and you'll walk straight toward a final terminal. Activate it for Intel #8/8.

In the large final hangar-bay fight, you'll fend off waves of Covenant and two Hunters. If you left the other two Hunters alive earlier, they'll show up here when you hear that reinforcements are coming. When the arrive on-scene, you'll unlock:

I Thought I'd Lost You

Escape the Hunters in the lab and fight them in the hangar in Blue Team.

For collectibles, Mission 3 starts at 05:09.

For this mission, you can knock out both mission-specific achievements in one go rather easily. Just do not enter ANY vehicles and do not use your smartlink. That means no hovering (no aiming down sights period), no ordering your teammates, and no scanning the environment. Avoid both of these things throughout the mission and you'll unlock:

Although it's not necessary to see this in action, I did record a video showing the route I took through the mission to finish as quickly as I could (not being a pro speed runner, at any rate).

At the very beginning of the mission, turn 90 degrees to your right and head to the far side. On a box over the railing you'll find Intel #1/6. When you exit the large airlock at the start, look to your left behind a tarp-covered box to find a radio for Intel #2/6. From #2, head across the area to the other side and forward closer to the Promethean fight. Look on the upper level of the first building to your right, inside a glass-walled office, for a data pad for Intel #3/6. After that first area, as you're driving down the hill (or walking if going for the achievement), a radio is to the right by a downed Pelican for Intel #4/6. After you cross the bridge, turn around. Facing back toward the bridge, look to the left side of it and around the corner for a data pad on a desk, for Intel #5/6. When you hear 'they might have a Scorpion tank', look for the large vehicle near a building. Climb on top of the building and smash down through the roof to find the Scorpion tank and a data pad behind it on a box for intel #6/6.

For the Iron skull on this mission, you must be playing on Legendary difficulty. Take the Scorpion tank mentioned above up the hill to the next checkpoint. When you trigger the checkpoint, drive forward until Prometheans spawn to your right. Look up and to the left over the building. You'll see a drop ship fly by, with a Phaeton chasing it. Shoot this Phaeton out of the sky (you'll hear Grunt Birthday Party "Yay!" if you hit it). After that, the skull spawns in one of three locations. From where you shot the Phaeton, turn around 180 degrees. Head down the hill and follow the path to the right. Location #1 is on the fence line ahead of you, between two yellow barrels. From location #1 (if the skull wasn't there), continue down the hill to a flat grey ledge. Standing on this ledge, look to your immediate left for a rooftop with a ship on it. Behind the ship, in the middle of a trio of large boxes and right beside a yellow canister, you'll find location #2. From #2, drop back down to the ground and continue down the hill. There is a rock archway formation in the center of this lower area with two green boxes under it. Push these two boxes out of the way and check behind where they were for location #3. The skull always spawns in one of these three locations.

Mission 4 - Meridian Station

For collectibles, Mission 4 starts at 08:57. This mission has no fighting, which makes it ideal to get the 3-skulls achievement. Just turn on any three skulls (presumably the skulls from the first three missions) before launching it on Heroic or Legendary. At the end, you'll unlock:

Just collect the Intel bits and talk to a few folks, access a computer terminal, and run to the pelican to end it. For Intel #1/8, check to the right just before you enter the gate into the courtyard for a data pad. Intel #2/8 is another data pad on the landing pad where the Pelican is, on a box to the left on the corner nearest the hologram platform/courtyard. For #3/8, look for a building with an orange neon Lian 14 sign. To the right of this is an orange vending machine, with the data pad right beside it. From #3, turn around and climb the building directly across from the vending machine. Turn 90 degrees to your right and cross to the adjacent roof to find a data pad for Intel #4/8 on a box. From where you entered the courtyard, head down the path directly behind the hologram platform. Look to your left between the first two buildings, on a box, for a data pad and Intel #5/8. A little further down the path from #5, climb up onto the circular roof on your right for a data pad and Intel #6/8. Continue from #6 to the back-right corner of the courtyard a data pad on a grey box. Intel #8/8 is a data pad on the tallest circular spire in the middle of the courtyard. You can climb up to it easily from the adjacent building.

Mission 5 - Unconfirmed

For collectibles, Mission 5 starts at 10:51.

For Intel #1/7, look directly to your left form the beginning, in a pile of rubble about 20-30 feet away. From there, enter the building and climb up to the right-hand side. On the upper level, a data pad is sitting on a chair behind the railing for Intel #2/7 (disregard the 2/8 in the video, that was a typo). In the next building you come to, after dealing with the Prometheans, again climb up to the upper-right level. On this walkway, above the door through which you entered, is a data pad on an atm-looking thing for Intel #3/7.

When you reach the platform with a Pelican on it a Knight will spawn. Attack its weak spots on the shoulders until it spawns a Watcher. Let the Watcher repair its armor, then kill the Watcher, followed by the Knight to unlock:

Kill an enemy that's had its armor repaired in Unconfirmed.

After dealing with the Prometheans above, head to the back of the Pelican and climb up on top of it to find a data pad for Intel #4/7. A short while later, you'll fight a large number of Prometheans in a courtyard and another large airlock door will open. Before entering it, look for a smashable wall on the building to your left. Break through to find a data pad for Intel #5/7. From there, enter the airlock. Climb onto a box on the left side of the path. From there, jump and clamber up onto the catwalks up by the roof. On the far side of the catwalk from where you jumped up, you'll find a small alcove with the Blind skull. When you reach a large room with tons of Promethean enemies, look to the right from where you enter for some pipes up against the wall. Climb up these pipes to the ledge above for a radio and Intel #6/7. This is the room you do the Maverick achievement in co-op. I've moved all of the co-op achievements to a separate playthrough below since they require a full playthrough to obtain the last one. At any rate, continue from here across the room, dealing with the Prometheans. Before you drop down in the hole at the end of the room, look on the upper-left catwalk for a data pad on a box, nabbing Intel #7/7.

Mission 6 - Evacuation

For collectibles, Mission 6 starts at 13:19.

I'm going to mention this now, because to obtain it you need to bring miners from earlier in the mission. To unlock Savior, you must keep at least six miners alive at the initial fight at the large elevator. There are only 4 miners present, so you must bring some with you from the rest of the level. To bring as many as you can, make sure you destroy all the Phaetons at the bridge, as they kill miners. Also, when you reach the final fight outside the elevator, rush ahead so that the Prometheans target you and not the miners. Continuously order your AI allies to attack the larger enemies if you're playing solo. Co-op makes this a breeze. If solo, try to target one of the larger enemies for your allies, then switch to another to kill yourself. Empty your grenades into the large pack of Crawlers to the right when you first climb over the wreckage to enter the area as well, as these tend to take out a fair few miners at the start. If you have at least 10 miners at the elevator when it opens, it's VERY easy to keep six alive. Any less, and you might struggle, especially if solo. Here's a solo video for those that might want to see strategies:

For Intel #1/6, drive to the bottom of the hill from the start and look on the catwalk to the right, just before entering the bridge tunnel.

Restart the mission. The mission's skull is located at the very end, but to spawn it you must destroy five traffic cones at the very beginning of the mission within two minutes. From the start, jump in a hog if co-op or a gungoose if solo. You'll know if you've shot a cone because it disappears and you hear the Grunt Birthday "Yay!". Drive down the hill and follow the path to the left when you go through the large doorway. At the end of the nearby structure, in front of a couple of boxes, you'll see Traffic Cone #1/5. Continue down the hill and look for Traffic Cone #2/5 near the bottom of the stairs that led up to Intel #1. Continue forward and near the end of the bridge tunnel you'll see a burned-out, rusted car in the middle of the path. Behind this car is Traffic Cone #3/5 (sorry I'm facing away from it in the video as my gunner shot it). Drive forward from cone #3 and under a rock arch. Past the arch, you'll see a large mining vehicle to your right. Behind this vehicle is a yellow tank on a platform, with Traffic Cone #4/5 on the corner of the platform. Continue on from cone #4 and you'll reach a crashed Pelican. If you've made it here within the 2-minute timer and destroyed the other 4 cones, you'll see Traffic Cone #5/5 in front of a large red box. Destroy it and continue with the mission. The skull spawns right before you escape on the Pelican at the end of the mission.

When you reach the large room before the evac elevator fight, turn right and head over to the half-raised elevator platform. Climb onto it and jump over to the catwalk against the wall to find a radio for Intel #2/6. On the opposite of this room from #2, you'll find another elevator platform, this one functional. Access it and ride it up to find another radio on the upper ledge for Intel #3/6. Once you go through the doors onto the large evac elevator, where you fight a bunch of Prometheans when the doors open (this is where you need to keep 6 miners alive for Savior), look to your left for a breakable wall. Smash through to find a data pad for Intel #4/6. After the Kraken damages the elevator and you have to go out the emergency exit, climb up the very first box when you come out onto the climbing portion. Look to your left for a catwalk on the lowest level of the structure. Cross this to the far side and follow it around and up two short sets of stairs. Straight ahead, jump over the railing to find a data pad for Intel #5/6. When you reach the top of this structure and have to fight off a bunch of Prometheans on the far side (you should see a Light Rifle leaning against the window here), go back down approximately two levels and look for a grey support beam out in the middle with a blue light on the wall. Jump out onto this beam to find Intel #6/6. Sorry the descriptions for #5 and #6 aren't more detailed but these two locations are hard to describe. I would advise watching the video closely for these two. Head back up to the top from #6, and just before you escape on the Pelican, with the scripted explosions and shaking going on, look to the ground in front of you to find the Thunderstorm skull if you met the 2-minute traffic cone requirements earlier.

For Fire Drill, again Co-op will make it vastly easier. You must finish the mission in less than 18 minutes, on Heroic, without dying. If you go down, just restart your checkpoint unless you're sure your ally is going to revive you in time. It only counts as a death if you bleed out. You can actually get Savior and Co-op in the same playthrough rather easily, even solo. This isn't too hard of an achievement to solo, but I'd recommend doing it co-op if you can.

Mission 7 - Reunion

For collectibles, Mission 7 starts at 18:17.

From the start, head forward until you reach a large puddle. Turn left and follow the pathway to a ledge with a dead Grunt and a data pad for Intel #1/7. Continue on until you reach a ledge overlooking Phantom wreckage with some Covenant near it. Turn right here and look for a path in the wall leading out onto a ledge with a singing Grunt holding the Grunt Birthday skull. Punt him and take it. Turn back from the skull and hug the right wall to find another data pad overlooking the same Covenant enemies for Intel #2/7. From #2, drop down to the Phantom wreckage and hug the right wall. Climb up the ledge, and midway up you'll find an alcove with a Rocket Launcher and Intel #3/7.

In this area there is a Fuel Rod on the far side from where you are, or you can grab the Rocket Launcher here. Have a precision weapon like a Carbine as your backup. Inch forward up the cliff from Intel #3 until you can just barely see the Phantom hovering over the Covenant camp. Unload all your rockets or fuel rods into it, then immediately switch to your backup and start shooting it (it will start flying off before you finish unloading your heavy weapon into it). Keep shooting it as fast as you can while it flies off and you should destroy it before it gets away, even if solo. Once again co-op would make this much easier. The video below shows the solo version.

Carry on past the Covenant camp, and when you reach a Forerunner structure with a bunch of Covenant, including two Shade Turrets, look underneath the platform the turrets are on for a console and Intel #4/7. When you exit the elevator into the subterranean area, look for a breakable wall to your left on the way down. Smash through and you'll find another console for Intel #5/7 on a lower ledge in this room. Continuing down the rocky area from #5, you'll enter an area with lots of Prometheans on the ledges above. As soon as you enter, look for a lower ledge down in front of you with a console for Intel #6/7. Intel #7/7 is behind a barrier directly ahead of you on the far side of the light bridge that Cortana activates the first time you talk to her.

For take a hike, it's self explanatory. When you get to the part where you can choose on-foot or in a Phaeton, go on-foot. I would suggest doing this on an easier playthrough, perhaps when doing collectibles, because on Legendary the beam turrets can take you out pretty quickly. Mission 8 - Swords of Sanghelios

For collectibles, Mission 8 starts at 21:21.

Rather than attempt to describe exactly where each breakable door/floor is, I've recorded a video that should get you the achievement in short order. There are more than 10 breakable walls/floors in this mission, but you DO have to be pretty thorough looking around to find them all if you're not following a guide. I'll add text instructions for these into the portion with the Intel so you can get all the intel and No Knock Raid in a single run later on when I have more time.

At the start of the mission, climb up the ledge to the right and look in an alcove up some stairs for an artifact and Intel #1/12. Still near the beginning, on the left cliff ledge near a tall Sangheli statue, look under a small overhang for a data pad and Intel #2/12. When you see your first waterfall, head underneath it and hug the left wall to find an artifact for Intel #3/12. When you encounter the first Shade Turret, climb up a the ledge behind and to the right of it for a data pad and Intel #4/12. When you reach a room where Vale says a Sangheli burial prayer, climb up the rock overhang in the middle to find a data pad by an Energy Sword for Intel #5/12. At the very top of the large room where you fight Covenant all the way up, face stairs to the exit of the room. You should see a statue of a Sangheli sitting with its hands on its knees directly in front of you. Turn around and look for a high rock ledge with some broken pillars near it. Climb these and jump/clamber up onto the rock ledge to find an artifact for Intel #6/12.

From #6, look out across this large room and down below to see three covenant energy barriers. To the left of these, on a lower ledge, are a dead Elite and a data pad for Intel #7/12. When you first exit outside, look up and to your left to see a tall rock ledge. This is where the skull sits. To get there, climb up the pillars on the right and make your way to the one nearest the skull's rocky resting place. The jump may look impossible. To make it, sprint-jump off the pillar toward the rock platform and hit your dash-boost at the peak of your jump. As soon as you hit your boost, press and hold melee to charge a ground pound, which while boosting will cause you to drift forward just far enough to make it onto the rock platform and grab the Mythic skull. From here, drop down below to find a data pad at the base of this rock platform for Intel #8/12. Make your way forward from #8, and before crossing the canyon look for a room on your right with a floor you can smash through. Break through it and head out toward the ledge to find a data pad on the left on a purple box for Intel #9/12. Carry on until you get the Mantis, and in the very next room look for a broken statue to the right. Climb up it and onto the ledge above, then head left to find Intel #10/12. If you're struggling to jump from the statue to the ledge, drive a Ghost up onto it and jump on top of the Ghost then to the ledge. Once you reach a large open area with a Wraith on the far side, look to the left of the Wraith in the corner to find a large hole in the wall. Go through the hole and down the hall to find a data pad for Intel #11/12. In the next room, ignore the Covenant drop pods and climb onto the right-hand ledge. Behind the wall up here is a small watery area with a data pad for Intel #12/12.

Mission 9 - Alliance

For collectibles, Mission 9 starts at 25:41.

Another talking-only mission. Just grab all the Intels and talk to a couple folks to finish it. From the start, turn around and look on a box behind you for a data pad and Intel #1/8. Continue down the ravine and you'll see a lone Elite standing to your left. Climb up the cliff behind him and turn right. Cross the rock bridge to a tunnel, and at the end of the tunnel on the left you'll find a data pad for Intel #2/8. Continue straight ahead out of the tunnel and climb the ledge to the right to find a data pad for Intel #3/8 on a box on the upper ledge overlooking the makeshift medical area. Go back across the area to the ledge above the Elite from #1. You'll see a few grunts hanging about. Look out over the ledge here to see a tall spire in front of you. Jump out onto it for a data pad and Intel #4/8. Jump down off the spire near Halsey and turn left to find a darkened alcove with a data pad on a box for Intel #5/8. From #5, turn around and look across the area to your left to see an Elite holding a data pad. Climb up the pillars behind him and jump out onto another grey spire for Intel #6/8. Jump down from here to the Pelican and look on a box to the left for a data pad and Intel #7/8. From here, head to the other side of the Pelican and up onto the cliff behind it to find a final data pad on a small box for Intel #8/8.

Mission 10 - Enemy Lines

For collectibles, Mission 10 starts at 28:13.

For Intel #1/10, drop down to the left from the first waterfall you come to before entering the ruins. It's in the dark below on the left-hand side. Continuing on you'll encounter the first 3 Grunts of the mission and find a data pad on the ledge to the left for Intel #2/10. From #2, follow the right-side wall as you head outside. Just past a purple box, and before a fallen grey pillar, look on the upper ledge to your left for a data pad and Intel #3/10. From #3, continue outside and hug the cliff ledge to your right until you reach a doorway to a small room with a data pad for Intel #4/10. When you come back outside again and see a Phantom to your left, look in the left-side door past the Phantom for a suicide Grunt and a data pad for Intel #5/10. From #5, continue outside. Just around the corner ahead is a large rock overhang in the middle of the path. Go up the hill behind it and jump-boost to it, clambering up to the top to find a data pad for Intel #6/10.

In the next lart outdoor fight with the energy door on the far side, follow the right wall to a ledge with Jackals below and a data pad between two Plasma Grenades for Intel #7/10. In this same area, head to the upper platform in the middle of the room. Facing the exit (energy barrier), look for some pillars to the right you can jump out onto. From these, look to your right and down for a small ledge you can jump-boost down to land on for a data pad and Intel #8/10. Once again in this same area, directly below the platform where the Wraith sits, look for a breakable wall and smash through to find a data pad on your immediate left for Intel #9/10. When you reach the Kraken, jump into a Phaeton and fly over to the platform on the right to find a Forerunner Console for Intel #10/10.

For the skull, when you enter the area with the Kraken look straight ahead to see a close door down low on it. This is the Banshee bay. There is another on its rear side. Fly over and land on the Kraken on the back side and head down inside to find the room with the rear Banshee bay. Walk over to the door to make it open. Facing the door, turn 90 degrees to your left and look up to see a ledge above where the skull sits. Simply jump in a Banshee and fly up to that ledge, then hop out and grab the Catch skull.

For Kraken Lackin', it's very simple. Just don't destroy any of the turrets on the Kraken before destroying its core. For Emergency Boarding, fly over to the it and park your Phaeton at the top of a ramp. Remember which ramps you take down to the core. Get the core nearly destroyed, then direct your Spartans onto the ramp you came down. Destroy the core, and sprint up the ramp. Keep spamming the direction button to force the Spartans up the ramp as fast as possible. When you get to the top, tell them to pilot the Phaeton, and wait. Hopefully they'll jump in before the Kraken explodes. If so, just jump/clamber onto it. Even if you fall off, as long as you attempted to board it (especially if you get the clamber animation), you'll get Emergency Boarding.

Mission 11 - Before The Storm

For collectibles, Mission 11 starts at 31:29.

Another talking-only mission. Do a 180 at the start and look behind you on a box to the right for a data pad and Intel #1/5. From #1, turn back around and look for a green box about 50 feet away on a small rock ledge. Climb up onto the ledge behind it and up onto the pillar, then jump over to the tall spire and clamber up to find the data pad for Intel #2/5. From #2, jump down and head behind Palmer up onto a small ledge with a data pad on a box for Intel #3/5. From #3, turn right and head up the rocky path. When you reach the top, go to the ledge to your right and look down to see the data pad on a grey stone block for Intel #4/5. From #4, look out across the area to see several purple awnings. Jump boost across to them and climb up onto the highest one. Follow it around to the right to see a cliff overhang you can jump out onto, with a data pad at the tip for Intel #5/5. Mission 12 - Battle of Sunaion

For collectibles, Mission 12 starts at 33:11.

From the start, turn around and head to your right. Use your scanner and you'll see a bubble on one of the pillars indicating an intel item. Climb onto the purple flame torch behind it and jump-boost to the lower portion of it to clamber up onto the pillar and grab the data pad for Intel #1/8. You can progress forward and kill the enemies around the generator, then backtrack along the ledge of the adjacent building and jump to this intel too if you're struggling with my method. Continue on from the start through two sets of double doors and hug the wall to your left. You'll pass a few windows with three Grunts in the room inside. Just past them, around the corner you'll see a doorway with a console inside for Intel #2/8.

For Death From Above, destroy the first turret or its energy core and proceed through two sets of double doors. Hug the left wall coming out of the 2nd set, and look for windows to jump through with three Grunts inside a building. This is the same building mentioned above for Intel #2. Head in and upstairs, and do a ground pound off the upper level to destroy the floor grate and kill a Grunt.

After exiting the first elevator, cross the long bridge and stay to the left. Break through the two sets of smashable walls. On the back side of the 2nd structure with the smashable walls, you'll find a data pad on the upper ledge for Intel #3/8. Continue from here to the end of this area, where you'll see a shade turret in front of the exit. Standing on the bridge and facing the Shade Turret and the exit, turn around and look to your left to see a round ledge. Jump out onto this ledge and go around behind it to find a data pad on the upper ledge of the structure for Intel #4/8. When you reach the two Hunters, facing the exit door and the Hunters, turn 90 degrees to your right and look on the back side of the round platform with the Fuel Rod Cannons in a box to find a data pad for Intel #5/8.

For Worms Don't Surf, you'll need to use Auto Stabilize. This is where when you jump and aim-down-sights while in the air, you'll hover for a second. Make sure to kill any AI Spartans nearby, then head down a ramp and stay at the opposite end from the Hunters to draw them near a ledge. Once they are near a ledge, run up the ramp quickly and jump out into the air over the water in front of them and hover by aiming. If you're lucky, they'll lunge at you and fall to their death.

The only problem with this method is that you tend to fall to your death too, so it's best to have a co-op partner to act as a spawn point, because if you're solo and you fall to the water, it restarts your checkpoint. I've been told you can use a Spartan charge (the same way you break destructible walls) to knock them off, but I haven't been successful with this method so far.

After the Guardian destroys the floor, look for a data pad on the left side of the upper level in the 2nd of the two rooms you pass through once you come back inside for Intel #7/8. From #7, continue into the next room and up the ramp. Immediately at the top of the ramp turn to your right nearly 180 degrees and go around the wall to your left on the broken ledge to find an artifact just at the corner for Intel #8/8. Once you reach the final Warden fight area (you'll see the Arbiter stabbing a foe as you come to the door), head straight across the area and look down over the ledge to see a steel beam jutting out and a small ledge below that you can drop down onto where the Cowbell skull is sitting half-imbedded in the concrete.

For Rolling Thunder, it must be on Heroic. Once you get the tank head forward and destroy one of the two enemy Ghosts. Back the tank up and hop out. Rush forward, directing your AI Spartans (or co-op partner) to the right while you flank left. Let your teammates go ahead of you a little so they get the Ghost's attention, then jump off the upper rock wall on the left side and boost down to the Ghost before it turns. For Tank Still Beats Everything, you must be on Legendary. Just play extremely conservatively. Inch forward and take enemies out at extreme range. This must be done on Legendary, and the tank isn't much of a tank on Legendary. You can also move the tank forward a little at a time, then hop out and kill enemies on-foot or in a Ghost, but this risks more frequent deaths and a lot of lost progress as checkpoints are few during the fights. It's a pretty self-explanatory achievement, but can be tough.

Now onto the skulls, again right where you get the tank, head forward and you'll see two unoccupied Ghosts to your left, with a data pad by a dead Grunt for Intel #1/10. From #1, head forward and across the bridge, then hug the left cliff edge to find another data pad by another dead Grunt for Intel #2/10. Turn around from #2 and go around the first rock on your left. Climb up the rock ledge to the left here and at the end of it, overlooking the Forerunner structure, you'll find a broken constructor for Intel #3/10. When you reach the crashed Pelican, look on top of it by a dead Marine for a data pad and Intel #4/10. Go straight ahead from the crashed Pelican and look to your left to see a Forerunner platform with a console on it for Intel #5/10. From #5, head straight across the nearby bridge, and climb the rocks to the left at the end of the bridge to find a broken constructor for Intel #6/10. Facing straight out across the area from this ledge, go straight across and climb the rocks on the far side. Follow them to the right to find a Spartan Laser with a data pad nearby for Intel #7/10. You should be able to see the next bridge from here.

Once you cross the bridge, a Warden will spawn and you won't be able to take the tank any further. Deal with the Warden, then climb the rocks to your immediate left to find a data pad by an Energy Sword for Intel #8/10. In the same area, facing where the Warden spawned, follow the path to the right up and around the corner. Midway up the path, climb the rocks to your left to a high ledge overlooking the Warden fight area to find the Tilt skull. Just behind this ledge, on that same path you came up, you'll find another Forerunner platform with a console for Intel #9/10. Mission 14 - The Breaking

For collectibles, Mission 14 starts at 39:00.

At the very beginning, turn around to find two consoles, one to your left and one to your right, for Intel #1/5 & 2/5. Continuing on, you'll encounter a bunch of Prometheans including a couple of Knights on a long bridge-like area. Stick to the bottom-middle path and you'll find a console for Intel #3/5. In the room where you see the Warden show up again and Cortana deals with him, saving you the trouble, head straight ahead from where you entered to find a console in an alcove below the upper ledge for Intel #4/5. Directly behind this console (just go around to the back of the alcove), you'll find the Famine skull on a small ledge. Facing the exit from the final large Promethean encounter with tons of enemies, including snipers and several Knights, look in the center of the area while facing the exit to find a console for Intel #5/5. This is the area right before you fight the three Wardens at the same time, and the console is at the end of the area closest to the exit.

For Harbinger, this must be done on Legendary. Just make sure that you don't reach the 'game' over screen, where all three of your allies are dead and you die too, leaving no one alive to revive you and forcing the game to reload a checkpoint for you. To be safe, just reload your last checkpoint anytime you go down if it doesn't look obvious a nearby ally is going to revive you, and if all three of them are down take cover until one respawns, or reload your checkpoing IMMEDIATELY if you go down. Another useful tip is skipping the Warden boss fight on this level entirely. Rather than trying to explain this, it's better if you check out the video below to see it in action.

For Prison Break, you must kill two Wardens simultaneously on at least Heroic difficulty. While this is possible to do solo, I highly recommend co-op. What you want to do is make sure both players have Incinerator cannons and Fusion Rifles when you enter the fight. Both people target the same Warden and burn him down quickly, leaving two. Save the checkpoint after the first dies. Once you've done that, place damage both of the Wardens with around 5 or 6 Fusion Rifle shots and a fully charged Incinerator Cannon shot or two. Now that they're near death, head to the far side of the room near the two Incinerator Cannon pickups and grab one. Facing the pickups, move to your right into the corner. You will frequently trigger a checkpoint in this corner, and it is ideal that you do. Once you've got a checkpoint with only two Wardens alive and both of them damaged pretty well, SAVE that checkpoint. Now, count how many fully-charged Incinerator Cannon shots it takes to finish each one off and keep that in mind. Whichever one takes more shots to kill, have that player go first and start burning his down. Once he has taken enough shots to make them even (aka if one is 4-shots to kill and the other is 2-shots to kill, have the guy with the 4-shot one take two fully-charged shots first), commence simultaneous firing.

A word of warning, the Wardens take more shots to kill the slower you fire at them, so while it might take two fully-charged shots to kill one if you fire one shot right after the other, it may take three if you hesitate between shots. So you need to time it where both players are burning theirs down non-stop and have them both die at the same time to unlock Prison Break. I'm including this achievement in both the solo and co-op sections because it is possible to do this method solo if you direct your AI to attack the weaker of the two Wardens and they all have power weapons, although it is very hard to do it that way because they AI are dumb as a box of rocks and tend to get killed a LOT during this fight. It's even possible to kill them both at the same time solo, without your AI, but it is very tricky to time your shots right.

Mission 15 - Guardians

For collectibles, Mission 15 starts at 40:06.

In the starting room with the orange hologram, look for a console on the left and right ledges for Intel #1/10 and #2/10. Continuing on, in the large room with Covenant fighting Prometheans, look on the upper platform in the middle of the room, on the edge nearest the exit, to find a data pad by a dead Elite for Intel #3/10. In the room with all of the cores you'll find the other 7 Intel items. Kill off all the enemies, but don't destroy the cores yet as I use them as land marks for these Intel items.

Near Alpha core you'll find a data pad near a crashed Covenant vessel for Intel #4/10. From Alpha core, head toward Epsilon core, but take the first right to the center area. Hug the left wall. As soon as you reach a slope to the left leading up that left wall,, turn and follow it up (doubling back on your path essentially) to find a broken constructor for Intel #5/10. Head across the center area from #5 toward Beta core. Facing the door leading down below Beta core, look for a ledge to the left you can climb. Follow this ledge up to the left to a data pad for Intel #6/10. On a ledge above Gamma core you'll see a crashed Pelican. Near the Pelican you'll find a dead Marine with a data pad near him for Intel #7/10. From there, climb over the Pelican and turn around to face back toward it. You'll see the final skull, Tough Luck, sitting in the snow in front of you.

After collecting this final skull, you'll unlock:

For Icy Cool, you just need to find a high ledge near a core and jump out above the core. You need to be almost directly above it, and decently high up. Do a ground pound maneuver directly at the core and if you get a direct hit and destroy it, the achievement should unlock.

Once you've done that, try to get two cores damage to the point of a one-shot kill, destroy both simultaneously to unlock Double Stuff. This is much easier to do co-op, but is still very doable solo. Just direct your AI allies to destroy a core by targeting it for them, then wait by your damaged-nearly-dead core. As soon as your screen darkens, indicating their core is destroyed, finish off your core with a power weapon blast to pop the achievement.

Co-Op Campaign Playthrough

You must do the entire campaign on Heroic co-op for the last achievement, so make sure you set it to Heroic right off the bat. I noticed that I had credit for a few co-op missions on either Heroic or Legendary despite never having played them co-op at all, let alone the higher difficulty. The achievement tracks each individual mission's completion on co-op Heroic, rather than using the in-game career stats. So make sure you keep track of which ones you've done if you're jumping around so you know which ones you still need to do if it glitches and shows a completion on the career screen that you haven't actually done. Also, you can get credit for completing a mission on co-op Heroic even if you join into someone's game at the very end of the mission, and you can save up to three co-op checkpoints. So theoretically a few friends could get together and each have three different end-of-mission checkpoints and give each other credit for all the missions in a matter of minutes.

At the end of your first co-op mission, you'll unlock:

One for All

Complete any co-op Mission on Heroic difficulty.

When on Blue Team (mission 2), make sure you simultaneously assassinate two Elites. The first room you come to that has Elites in it is a fine spot. Just clear out the Jackals and Grunts, then get each player close to an Elite. Punch them to drop their shields at the same time, which will cause them to do their rage animation, giving you both enough time to circle behind them and assassinate them. This is probably best done on Easy, then quit out and resume your Heroic Co-op playthrough.

On Unconfirmed, in the large room with the Promethean fight just before the end of the mission, you'll find a Gungoose on the lower level. Jump in with your co-op partner and wreak havok on 30 enemies to unlock Maverick. This is best done on Easy or Normal, as Heroic and Legendary see the enemies wrecking your Gungoose rather quickly. There is a 2nd Gungoose in the room in a shipping container, just in case.

Periodically in Warzone matches, NPC enemy leaders spawn. These are indicated by a yellow skull waypoint on the map, and they are worth 150 victory points for the team that kills the killing blow. To get the achievement, you must get credit for the kill. You want to kill these as much as possible anyway as 150 points is a huge boost for your team. Campaign Score Attack

These first four achievements can be easily knocked out on Mission 1 - Osiris, on Normal difficulty. Turn on the following skulls: Catch, Fog, Famine, and Thunderstorm and rush through the mission. As long as you beat the Par Time and get a good amount of multikills, your score multiplier for beating Par Time will help carry you over the 500,000 threshhold, not to mention you need to come in under Par Time for the Hare achievement. If you're struggling and falling short on score, add the Iron skull. Go a little slower so you don't die and have to restart, and with Iron you should be able to break 500k easily if you finish under 13 minutes. If that's the case, just replay without any skulls and rush through to beat the Par Time and unlock Hare. The first achievement should unlock during the mission once you pass 50,000 points, while the rest will unlock at the points screen.

For Party Hearty, it's best to do it 2-player co-op. While it is possible with a full team, points aren't share, so more people means fewer kills per player. You can either do it on Mission 1 - Osiris like the above achievements (same skull setup and method), or do it on Mission 13-Genesis via the tank glitch method. Warzone Firefight

For Dangerous game, you must either earn the killing blow or contribute heavily to damage dealt to a Mythic boss in Warzone Firefight. You also likely need to be alive and near it when it dies, no matter how much damage you do. I did over 50% of a Wraith mythic boss's health by myself then died, and didn't get credit when my team mopped him up. Mythic bosses are just like Legendary bosses from vanilla Warzone, except they are stronger and are denoted by red triangles rather than yellow on the HUD map. According to reports, they don't always show up. Some have seen one on Apex 7, for instance, while others did not. There may be a trigger depending on how well you do during waves one through four.

In my matches to date, I have found that the easiest Mythic boss to get credit for BY FAR is the Wraith bosses. I've only seen them in the "Attack on Sanctum" variant on the Sanctum map so far, and only once. It spawns four mythic Wraiths, but they're much softer than the mythic Knight boss or the mythic Warden. Make sure you have a level 6 req available and call in a Scorpion tank or a Banshee, depending on your play style, and just unload on one of the Wraiths from as far away as possible. If in the tank, try to aim your shot for the rear for more damage and a faster/easier kill.

Another one that was pretty easy to get credit for was the mythic Hunter bosses. I ran across these in March on Stormbreak, in a covenant-wave version of that variant. Tank, Wraith, or Mantis are your best bets for these guys. At the end of the day, as far as I can tell you stand a chance to get just about any of the mythic boss options on any map, just depending on what wave variants you get. Although I kinda doubt you would get the four Wraiths mythic boss on Stormbreak due to the confined nature of the map.
