This is a game published by Scholastic and is definitely geared towards children and early teenagers. You begin by selecting a gender for your school-age character. The walk home from school today is going to be a lot spookier than usual, so Player beware, you are in for a scare!

Your sleepy neighbourhoods been overrun by creatures and creeps of all kinds. Werewolves prowl the woods, mischievous gnomes roam underfoot, and your house has become haunted. These are all related R.L. Stine’s famous Goosebumps stories, released from their books and you need to stop them before they ruin your neighbourhood. You’ll need to use your wits to investigate your surroundings, and solve the clues to stay one step ahead of the monsters before it’s too late! Walk home from school and through your neighbourhood, unravel the mysteries of the Dead House, and sneak through the Mall after hours; only then can you confront Slappy and stop his plans for revenge!

There are also many items in the game that are referenced in his books you may notice if you grew up with them.

  • This is a point n click game (and a children’s game), so you will have to navigate using the controller and moving a cursor around to select specific items on the screen
  • You can navigate quickly from room to room by using the arrows on the d-pad cn_down, cn_up, cn_left, cn_right, which will show an arrow on the screen where you will move if you hold it down
  • To make this as simple and efficient as possible, this WT will be broken up into two full playthroughs and one additional partial playthrough to clean up some miscellaneous achievements, although there are several ways to get multiple deaths and options for pictures for monsters.
  • All the game's notes and plotlines are explained in the items and you could play it by discovering everything and figuring out all the needed actions, but that will extend your playing time significantly
  • To be the most efficient, save your game when prompted in bold; any time you save, it writes over the previous save.
  • You have 3 slots to save games, but you will only need one following this WT to get all achievements. You can use the others for discovering the game and playing for fun, right?

COMMON TERMS

  • “GRAB” means use the cursor on an item and pick it up
  • “SELECT” means use an item from your Inventory on something on the screen
  • "Go" refers to moving to a new area using the d-pad shortcuts or moving the cursor over the door/side of the screen and selecting Move

DEVELOPING PHOTO – this takes a while and patience. You can save your game prior to starting this and reload if you mess up. If you mess up a step, you will have to repeat the whole process over from the beginning anyway.

Drop the Photo into the leftmost tub (developer) and leave it in there for 60 seconds. I suggest using a stopwatch on your phone

He shows up to prevent you from going in a certain direction. If you do go in his direction, you will die for the seventh time (DEATH 7/10); select RETRY

In order to get the 5 items, you will need to keep dropping disposable items down the laundry chute under the sink in the Bathroom to have something show up in the laundry basket in the Laundry Room.

LAUNDRY ITEMS

  1. You don’t need to get the items back from the laundry chute.
  2. Dropping the deck of cards, brannock, or bonsai tree should yield one of the necessary items each time.
  3. You have to drop each item one at a time then go pick up whatever comes out of the laundry chute in the laundry room. Use the warping area to get back and forth quickly.
  4. Drop random, useless items down the chute to get them back.
