Hey everyone and welcome to the TrueAchievements walkthrough for Layers of Fear.

This game is a first person horror/adventure title from new kid on the block: Bloober Team SA!

Most of this game will be quite simple. The only problem you may face is seeing all three endings. Each ending is seen based on the way you play, so it's important to note that you need to change your play-style each time you play.

Finally, I just want to add that I highly recommend you do one playthrough before using this guide. The game is intended to be enjoyed and immersed in. Reading this guide will spoil that for you. It's a fantastic gaming experience, so please do that before reading on.

Please read all points before continuing. They are very helpful!

  • Fortunately, the way the game saves collectibles, it means you do not have to pick them all up in one playthrough.
  • Chapter select/new game will allow you to find any missing collectibles. I will have a checklist for every single collectible on a later page.
  • You can check collectibles in the Magnum Opus room on the wall and in the book on the cabinet. Words cannot be checked.
  • There are 59 collectibles in this game.
  • Throughout this WT, I will list each collectible as soon as it appears during the story. I will list them as Word#1 = W#1, Memo#1 = M#1, Rat Drawing 1 = R#1 etc.
  • I'd advise you to turn up the brightness more than the default, but not all the way up. This will make searching a bit easier. It doesn't ruin the atmosphere in my opinion.
  • Change your in-game sensitivity up to the highest it can go. You'll be doing a lot of turning in this game.
  • You can die in the game. Although there are no consequences for death, it may potentially be linked to which ending you receive.
  • You can walk faster using cn_LT

Prologue

Story Walkthrough:

I'd advise you to get two achievements out of the way in the prologue. You're welcome to do it on a second run if you prefer. I'd also advise you to completely restart the game after doing these two (New Game). Please see the endings page for more details. Upstairs, in the office, stare at the Fur Boy painting for 1 hour to receive:

Chapter 1

Story Walkthrough:

After revealing the canvas, leave the room and continue down the hall and into the room with the window on the opposite side, go over to it, turn around. Exit the room and you'll come to a hall with a couch with "Going in circles" written on it. Look in the cabinet beside it and M#1 is here. This will give you:

Continue into the next room. Find W#1 to continue. The code to the chest is revealed by lighting the candles and looking at the paintings. This will give you:

Before leaving this room, read the note in the bottom draw. It will note the date "9th June". Remember 906 for later. Exit the room, head down the hall and you'll enter a room with a fireplace. Look at the painting will a doll hanging to activate a scripted event. After you get up, go over to the candle, and look in the wall to reveal R#1. This will give you:

Jump scare ahead! Go over to the light switch and activate it. Turn around and wait for the paintings to disappear, then go behind them and find M#2. Leave this room by going up the stairs and pulling the lever. Head through and out the fireplace room again until you reach the long hall with a number of paintings on each side. Keep going until one flies off. Pull it down to find W#2. In the very next room, with the painting above the fireplace, look in the cabinet to the right to find R#2. JSA! After this, go over and look at the painting. Wait for it to melt, then turn around. Exit the room, head through the room with a table and chairs and through the next door.

In the very next hallway, after the room with two chairs in the middle, look at the windowsill on the right, opposite a door to find W#3. Continue down the hall and go through the door on the left. Go through the windy, narrow path until you reach the Kitchen. Look in a cabinet at the top left to find R#3. It's on the inside of the door. Wait by the painting until the other door starts rattling. JSA! When the rattling door stops, open it, turn around and go stand by the painting again. Wait for the painting to stop oozing fruit, and grab the first piece from the painting. After the dialogue, exit the kitchen. You'll be back in the Magnum Opus room. Go over to the easel and add the first piece to it. That's the first chapter done!

Chapter 1 Collectibles (8 in total):

Memento #1(Picture of woman playing Piano) - Found in a cabinet besides the couch with "Going in circles" written on it. This is in the second room after the painting room.

Word#1 (Blue ring) - Story related object. Found in the chest which is unlocked by lighting candle and viewing code on melting paintings.

Rat Drawing #1 ("Dust Mice") - Shortly after previous collectible. When you get to the room with a fire place, go and look at the painting with a doll on it. You will fall down. After this, go towards the candle, look in the wall and the drawing will be there. Do not leave after getting this.

Memento #2 (Note starts with "My love, Even though you have...") - Same room as previous collectible. Turn on the lightswitch. Turn around, wait for paintings to disappear. Go behind them and on the table will be a note.

Word #2 (Woman on bed) - Soon after, you will find yourself in a hallway with a bunch of paintings on each side on the hall. Keep going until one flies off the wall. Look at this painting, move it down, then read the note.

Rat Drawing #2 ("Screeching Arsonists") - In the next room, with the painting above the fireplace, go to the cabinet on the right. Open it to find the rat drawing.

Word #3 (Hair brush) - When you get in the hallway after the previous room. You will hear a woman crying in the door to the left. Look on the windowsill opposite this door to find the hair brush.

Rat Drawing #3 ("Minced Mice") - When you get to the kitchen, look in a cabinet at the top left to find this one. It's on the inside of the door.

Chapter 2:

Story Walkthrough:

Exit the MOR and continue until you reach the elevator. Activate it by pulling the lever to the right. When you arrive in the next area, go all the way to the end of the hall, and then turn around again and go in the open door at the end. Find the key on the desk, and then go in the room opposite to find W#4. Exit and then unlock the door at the end of the hall. Go in the door on the left, and go up to the attic area. On the far side of the room on the floor, you will find M#3. Exit the attic using the door on the opposite side of the room and continue. Don't open the chest in the next room unless you want a JSA!. Continue until you reach The Junction (TJ) and go straight forward.

When you get to the room with a fireplace and a deer head above it, go through the room and exit. Wait for the scripted event (Debris will fall, and your character will duck). After this, go straight back in the previous room and find a note either beside the fireplace, or on the far table (note location changes). Once you find the note, find the safe by the door (still in the same room), and open it with the code The safes are tricky to open. Usually the way to open them is to move the dial anti-clockwise until you land on the first number, clockwise for the second, and anti-clock for the third. Pick up the key and leave the room. Continue straight down the hall and unlock the door. You'll find M#4 in here.

Continue until you reach the long hallway with the large dog painting at the end that eventually changes. (There is a minor JSA in the room with the globe). Check the drawer to the right of the dog painting to find W#5. After this, continue past the wheelchair and through the next door. After passing the wheelchair, don't turn around unless you want a JSA. Continue down the very long hall with the red rug until you reach the far door. There are minor JSAs upon opening this door and after turning around after seeing the small painting on the wall. After this event, go forward a little until you see a rat run across the floor. You can go either left or right here. It does the same thing. JSA! x2 in the next room.

In the next area, after the fan jumpscares, go all the way down the hall, and then turn around and enter the door on the left. Grab the key on top of a box. You will be locked in here for a minute or so. There will be spooky sounds coming from outside the room, but ignore them. They can't harm you. There are fortunately 2 mementos in this room. M#5 in the bedside table and M#6 in the top drawer of the cabinet. You will be able to leave the room once the spooky sounds stop and the decay on the wall disappears. As you exit this room, go left and look at the painting on the wall. It will melt and a cane will appear. This is W#6. Turn around and go through the door on the opposite side of the hall.

Continue until you reach the bedroom with the phonograph in the middle. Firstly, check the cabinets to the right to find W#7. Then, look at the makeup table and check the right drawer for R#4. In this room you need to pick up the record, place it in the phonograph, and then you need to play the record backwards (using the switch on the back of the phonograph) so the room starts to melt. Wait until a jar appears from under the bed. Pick it up, and then play the record again normally so you can exit. Afterwards, you'll find yourself back in the MOR. Before you add the next piece to the painting, check on top of the drawers, below the rat drawing wall to find W#8.

Chapter 2 Collectibles (10 in total):

Word#4 (Music sheet) - After getting the key from the room with all the paintings and the chair in the middle, go in the opposite room to find this.

Memento #3 (Husband and wife walking through forest) - Right after previous, found in the attic area, on the floor, on the far side of the room. where you see a fire below.

Memento #4 (Note has a coffee stain and starts with "March 26, Alright, let's try this again...") - When you get to the room with a fire place and a deer head above it, go through the room and exit. Wait for the scripted event (Debris will fall and your character will duck). After this, go straight back in the previous room and find a note either beside the fireplace, or on the far table (note location changes). Once you found the note, find the safe by the door (still in the same room) and open it with the code. Pick up the key and leave the room. Continue straight down the hall and unlock the door. You'll find the memento in here.

Word #5 (Dog Collar) - When you reach the long hallway with the large dog painting at the end that eventually changes, check the draw to the right of the painting to find the dog collar.

Memento #5 and #6 (Picture of husband wife with faces rubbed out and a note with "THAT'S JUST IRRESPONSIBLE" at the bottom. ) - This is in the area directly after the fan jumpscares. As part of the story you will find yourself locked in a small room in the dark, with strange sounds coming from outside. You cannot leave this room until the event is over. Turn all the lights on, then check both the bedside table and the desk to find two mementos.

Word #6 (Cane) - Directly after leaving the room I previously mentioned, turn left and stare at the painting for a moment. It will melt and a cane will appear.

Word #7 (Violin) - When you reach the bedroom with the phonograph in the middle, check the closets beside the door to find a Violin.

Rat Drawing #4 ("Prothesis Snatchers") - Same room as previous. Look at the makeup table, then check the right hand drawer.

Word #8 (Small alcohol bottle) - When you return to the MOR, check on top of the drawers, below the rat drawing wall.

Chapter 3:

Story Walkthrough:

As soon as you exit the MOR, you'll be in TJ. Turn left and pick up R#5 from behind the plants. Turn around and go straight ahead through the door. JSA! Go towards the piano. As soon as it moves, look to the left of it and go through the door. In the next room, DO NOT GO NEAR THE WINDOW, unless you want a Jump Scare. Instead, open one of the closets on the left of the room. Search a jacket to find R#6. Go through the door and open the next door. Turn away and face the wall. Then keep turning until a dark hallway appears. Before going down the hall, find the key from the hanging doll in the door behind. Go down the hall until you have a view of a room with a painting above a lamp. Turn around and you will be in that room. Use the key to unlock the chest in this room. Then find M#7. There will be a JSA upon opening the door.

Continue until you reach TJ. Go through the door straight ahead and grab W#9 from the painting stand. Exit and go to the door on the right. In the next area, there will be a locked door straight ahead. Ignore this for now, but remember where it is. Instead, go down the stairs and into the library area. Look at the ladder. Stand to the right of the ladder and push it (by walking into it) left until it is on the left side of the door (if facing the door). Climb up and grab the key. Then return to the locked door we found and pick up M#8. Go back down into the library and through the door.

In the next area, you will hear a phone ringing backwards. Keep going along the path until you see a small lamp table opposite the window. Wait until the telephone appears on top of it, then go back the way you came until the ringing is playing normally. Continue until you hear chimes. Stop and wait for the telephone to drop in front of you. Pick up the handle for W#10. Afterwards, continue down the path until you find a new door. Go through. JSA upon opening the next door. After the scare go in the room and find the lightswitch. Turn it on, and then look on the table for R#7. Very minor JSA in next area. When you exit this room, continue down the hall until you are able to reach the door. Continue until you reach the elevator. Turn the switch left to continue.

When you exit the elevator, continue down the narrow path, through a bunch of doors until you reach an area with a pallet blocking the way. Go in the door on the left into a bathroom. Look at the tub and wait for the R#8 to appear. Exit the bathroom and move the pallet blocking the path. In the next area, ignore all the doors until you reach the final door on the right. Go in and look in the drawer to find R#9. Exit and go through the door to the right. In the next area, open all the doors until a new area appears, with candles on the side. Go down the hall, ignore the screen effects, and go through the door.

When you get to the top of a set of stairs, look left and turn on the lights. Go down the stairs, and you'll see a piano at the other end of the room. Before interacting with the piano, turn right and find a candle on the far side of the room. Light it and R#10 will appear in front of you. Go back to the piano and interact with it three times. You will eventually hear some beautiful music. Go to the bottom of the stairs, and wait for the music to stop and for the room to go completely dark. You'll be waiting around 60 seconds. When that happens, you'll see an orange light where the piano was. Go over to it and interact with it. After the dialogue, exit and go up the stairs. You will be back in the MOR. Interact with your painting.

Chapter 3 done!

Chapter 3 Collectibles (10 in total):

Rat Drawing #5 ("Rodent seeds") - Directly after exiting the MOR, you will find yourself in TJ, turn left and look behind some plants.

Rat Drawing #6 ("Haunting Mimics") - After seeing the Piano move unexpectedly, exit that room and check the closet in the very next room. Then look in one of the coat pockets to find this.

Memento #7 (Note starts with "May 23, how can two people...") In the very next room, after turning around a bunch of times until the dark hall appears, find the key from the hanging doll in the door behind. Continue until you find yourself in the room with the portrait of a woman hanging above the lamp. Use the key to unlock the chest in this room. Then find the note.

Word #9 (Crooked Glasses) - When you find yourself in TJ again, go straight ahead, through the door and look for the item on the easel.

Memento #8 (Picture of wife and child with burn holes) - Straight after the previous, upon returning to TJ again and going into the next area, you will find a locked door. Ignore it for now and continue until you find yourself in the library, with the ladder. Stand to the right of the ladder and push it (by walking into it) left until it is on the left side of the door (if facing the door). Climb up and grab the key. Then return to the locked door we found and find the picture.

Word #10 (Telephone handle) - During the telephone section with constant ringing in the background, once you start going in reverse, the telephone will drop in front of you. Pick this up.

Rat Drawing #7 ("Flapping Horror") - When you find yourself in the upside down room, turn on the lightswitch and the drawing will appear on the table.

Rat Drawing #8 ("Silent Floaters") - When you reach an area with a pallet blocking the way, go in the door on the left into a bathroom. Look at the tub and wait for the drawing to appear.

Rat Drawing #9 ("Body Borrowers" - When you reach a dark, long corridor with a number of doors on each side, go in the final door on the right side. It will be in a drawer.

Rat Drawing #10 ("Dangling Dread") - When you get to the basement, with the piano, go over to the other side of the room and light a candle. The drawing will appear in front of you.

Chapter 4:

Story Walkthrough:

Exit the MOR and go down the hall. You will see a ghost walk in front of you. It can't harm you, so keep going forward and through the door at the other end. In the next room with 4 doors, open all the doors until they all close on you. Keep turning around until you see the green house, and then turn again until you see the man standing above a horse. Walk towards the door. When the lights go off, wait for the event to finish. A note will appear by the door. If it doesn't appear, go to the other end of the room, and then go toward it. This is W#11. Leave this room and find W#12 on the teddy bear. Leave the hall with the teddy (not literally leave with it) and you'll be in TJ. Turn left and search the drawers for M#9. There's a lamp beside it this one for reference.

Turn around and go through the door on the left. In the next room, check the small table on the far side for W#13. After this, stand in the corner nearest to the window and the painting. Then look at the glass doors. Turn and look at the painting and all the furniture should be drawn on the wall. Exit this room and search the makeup table drawers until the mirror shatters. Look at the mirror to find R#11. Exit this room and turn right, then go to the end. Look at the checkers table until the screen glitches for a second. Then search the nearby drawers and on the floor beside the checkers table for three checkers pieces. Then interact with the checkers board for W#14. Turn around and go through the door at the far end. In the next area you will see chairs stacked over a door. JSA! Go through and embrace death for:

After you wake, exit the room and continue down the path and through the same room three times. Upon entering the room for the fourth time, there is a JSA when you try to leave and turn around. Wait for all the commotion to end and then leave. Continue until you reach a room with dolls on shelves. Go over to the curtain, then turn around and go look at the yellow house for a second. Keep turning until a painting appears on the other side of the room. Go over and look at it and it will change. Then turn around, stand facing the doll on the table, and then wait 30 seconds until you can move again. Go over to the window, turn around twice and go forward. Keep going forward until you reach the final right turn. Go down and you'll see red light. Go over to the doll and wait for it to get up. You'll wake up in the previous room again.

You will see two doors on either side. Do not go through the glass double doors yet. Instead, turn around and open the single door. You will see dolls on the shelves. On the floor will be W#15. Turn around and exit the room through the glass double doors. Check the windowsill on the left to find W#16. You will find a few collectibles later in this exact spot. After picking up the perfume bottle, ignore the melting door in front, and go down the hall and through the door. Continue until you find a white door on the right side. Go through and look on the shelves opposite the entrance. Pick up R#12 here. Go over and search the shelves beside the bed to pick up the small key. Then use it on the toy in the middle of the room. You're going to have to wait for a cutscene for about two minutes here. After the cutscene is over, look on the bed for the ponytail. Pick it up. Upon opening the door to exit will be a JSA. After this, turn left and check the cabinet for W#17. Turn around and exit. You'll be back in the MOR. Interact with the painting to end this chapter.

Chapter 4 done!

Chapter 4 Collectibles (10 in total):

Word #11 (Child's drawing of horse) - Found in front of door after the event in which you see child's drawing of fire moving in the room. This is after the first hallway.

Word #12 (Party hat) - This one is unmissable. After the previously mentioned room, you will find a teddy bear. On top of it is the party hat.

Memento #9 (Photo of woman with child-like drawings on it) - The next room is TJ. Turn left and search the drawers for this one. There's a lamp beside it.

Word #13 (Baby shoes) - After leaving TJ, look on a small table.

Rat Drawing #11 ("Lice Mice") - In the room after the baby shoes. Search the makeup table drawers until the mirror shatters. Look at the mirror to find this one.

Word #14 (Checkers piece) - Turn right after leaving the previously mentioned room. Look at the checkers table until the screen glitches for a second. Then search the nearby drawers and on the floor beside the checkers table for 3 checkers pieces. Then interact with the checkers board.

Word #15 (Toy Soldier) - Later on in the chapter, directly after witnessing the doll stand up and look at you in the red light, you will wake up in a familiar room. You will see two doors on either side. Do not go through the glass double doors yet. Instead, turn around and open the single door. You will see dolls on the shelves. On the floor will be the toy.

Word #16 (Perfume bottle) - After leaving the previously mentioned room, check the windowsill on the left. You will find a few collectibles later in this exact spot.

Rat Drawing #12 ("Fluffy Fakers") - When you get into the Child's bedroom for the first time, check the shelves beside the couch.

Word #17 (Toy Gun) - After leaving the child's room, turn left and check the cabinet. (This one may not count, but pick it up just in case)

Chapter 5:

Story Walkthrough:

Exit the MOR and go around the outside of the next room until it goes pitch black and you see a shadow of a rocking horse. Go inside the center and turn on the lamp. Then wait for the commotion to end and exit through the door in between the lamp and the chair. Exit another door with "Restless memories" scribbled above it. Continue until you see a hallway with a door on the left. This door is opposite a bookshelf. Go in and check the far drawer to find M#10. Exit this room and go left through the next door. You will see the ghost at the other end of the room. Unfortunately you have to grab a picture near her, beside a candle. You can run and grab M#11 before she gets you, but if you go too far you will die. Do this quickly and run back.

Exit this hall, and in the next room, grab the key from the pile of rubble on the floor. Unlock the next door and continue. Go down the narrow path until you reach the room with the "Cat/Dog/Rat" note on the side. Take a look at this note for a second. The will be a picture of either a cat, a dog, or a rat above each word. Whichever animal has the picture, you need to follow the three lines associated with it to receive a 3 number code. Use this code to exit the door. Continue until you're blocked by debris. Turn around until a bright door opens. Don't go through yet. Instead, keep turning again until another secret path appears. There will be a white rat in front of a bunch of floating paintings. Go down this path and through the door. Check the drawers under the wine rack for R#13. Unfortunately, M#12 requires you to go through the bright door I previously mentioned. You have two options here. Either quit and resume and work your way back to this area to get M#12, or simply do this on another play through. For M#12, go through the bright door and check the small table for the note. Either path will lead you to the same area anyway.

When you get to the area with floorboard and parts of the wall missing, check the wall on the right to find R#14. There is also a candle in this area. Continue until you reach the area after the doors slam in your face. In the very next room will be a note to the left of the couch. This is M#13. In the next room, check the chest on the right hand side for W#18. Then go over to the big painting. After it moves back, turn around to find the same painting. Keep turning again until there are four paintings of eyes looking at you. Simply wait until you wake up after the quick event. When you wake up, exit, and you'll be in TJ. Go to the right and in the door, check the back of the painting to find R#15. Turn around and go through the right door. In the next hall will be a minor jump scare. Continue on into the room with red organic matter on a painting. Look on a small table nearby for W#19. Leave this room and when you get into the next hall, stop. Go slowly forward until you see "Don't Look Back" above the door. Do as it says for a bonus achievement. Continue on through the door without turning to receive:

In the next room, pull the chain 3 times then go through the next door. Continue until you get to TJ, go forward, and check the floor for W#20. Exit TJ and go wait over by the lamp. Activate it and you'll see a shadow in the room. Wait for it to pass and go over to the door and activate the lightswitch. It will reveal a new door. JSA upon opening this door. After the scare, go over to the fireplace to find W#21. Leave the room and pull the elevator lever either way. If you pull it to the right, there is a Jump Scare. If you pull it left, skip until ** If you pull it to the right, you'll end up in a room surrounded by cells. Pull all the doors until they are all stuck. Then look up.

**When you wake up, leave the room and chest the chest in the room to find W#22. Leave the room, then in the next hall, check the windowsill to the left for W#23. Continue until you find yourself in your office. Go over and open the drawer on the right hand side of the desk. Wait for the room to light up a bit, then turn and look at the painting. It will have a code on it. Go over to the single bookshelf and pull one of the books away to activate a secret door. Pick up the phone, and then type the code 911 for

Afterwards, type the code you just found into the phone, using cn_RT and cn_RS. After that, go back into the office and look up. Wait for the baby to scream, then go back to where the secret phone just was. Go through the corridor until you reach the ledge. Slowly go to the left until you find an opening with a phone. Answer it, then turn back and wait for the bookshelf to fall to the ground. Look down and you'll see the code. Put this into the phone. Exit and continue along the ledge until you find a phone inside a small room. Answer it, and then go back out and look across to see a cabinet open and a doll fall. Use that code on the phone. After this, turn around and go across the bridge until the telephone ahead falls. Then go back the way you came until you yourself fall. After waking up in your office, answer the phone, and then wait for the telephone to melt. After this, interact with the melted phone to pick up the next piece. After the dialogue, leave the room, and then add the piece to the canvas.

Chapter 5 Collectibles (13 in total):

Memento #10 (Note starts with "June 17, He's on about those damn rats again!") - After the event in which you are stuck in a small room with four doors and a grandfather clock smashing, exit and continue until you see a hallway with a door on the left. This door is opposite a bookshelf. Go in and check the far drawer to find this one.

Memento #11 (Picture of house with a lady standing at door) - Straight after previous, this one is on the ground in the next hall. Be careful though. The wife ghost is in this hall. You can run and grab the note before she gets you, but if you go too far you will die. Do this quickly and run back.

Rat Drawing #13 and Memento #12 ("Plague Breeder" and Note that starts with "July 19, Judging by the silence..." respectively) When you reach the Cat/Dog/Rat puzzle, complete the puzzle and exit. Continue until you get blocked by debris. Keep turning until a bright door opens. Don't go through yet. Instead, keep turning again until another secret path appears. There will be a white rat in front of a bunch of floating paintings. Go down this path and through the door. Check the drawers under the wine rack for R#13. Unfortunately M#12 requires you to go through the bright door I previously mentioned. You have two options here. Either quit and resume and work your way back to this area to get M#12, or simply do this on another play through. For M#12, go through the bright door and check the small table for the note. Either path will lead you to the same area anyway.

Rat Drawing #14 ("Floor Creepers") In this next room, there will be floorboards missing and holes in the wall everywhere. There will also be a candle on the other side. Check the wall on the right hand side to find this.

Memento #13 (Note starts with "March 23, It's been a while...") After going through the doors that slam in your face, in the next room will be a note to the left of the couch.

Word #18 (Dog Muzzle) - In the very next room, with the large painting on the other side, check the chest to the right.

Rat Drawing #15 ("Canvas Crawlers") - After waking up, you'll find yourself in TJ again. Go to the right and check the back of the painting.

Word #19 (Alcohol bottle) - After the room with blood dripping from the walls, you'll see a room with a painting covered in strange organic matter. Check the small table next to it.

Word #20 (Pile of paint brushes) - When you next get to TJ, go forward and check the floor.

Word #21 (Paint pallet) - After leaving TJ, you'll find yourself in a room with an upside down painting. Check the fireplace for this one.

Word #22 (Clock) - Later on, after leaving the elevator/waking up after the cell sequence, you'll be in a small room with a chest in it. Open the chest to find this one.

Word #23 (Small mirror/makeup thingymabob o_O) - After leaving the previously mentioned room, check the windowsill to the left.

Chapter 6:

Story Walkthrough:

Leave the MOR and head right and down the dark hall. On the back of one of the pillars in this hall will be a lever. Pull it, and then go back a bit to find a secret area. Now you'll need that date I mentioned in Chapter 1; June 6th. So, enter the code 906 to find the M#14. Exit the hall and head back to TJ. Go straight ahead and continue until you reach the room with the triple creepy painting. Approach it until it shakes and falls. Then go stand in the middle and move around until rats start scurrying everywhere. After all the commotion is over, check on the back of one of the fallen paintings to find it W#24.

Leave the room and head down the green tunnel. Watch out! As soon as you see the ghost, turn back and head into the room again. Then leave via the other door. Take a right and continue until you reach a hall with paint splattered everywhere. Go to the end, open the door and jump in. When you get down, look up a little and head straight through the doors. Do not dilly-dally here unless you want a Jump Scare. Continue past the big room with the pit and the large crank and in the next dark hall, check the open room on the right to find W#25.

Please Note: Certain rooms in the next area may be seen in different orders depending on which system you are using. Be aware of this.

Leave this room and continue down the path until you hear a baby cry. Check the same windowsill on the left to find W#26. In the same area as previous, turn around and peek through the gap into the bright room with paint everywhere. Look down and grab M#15. You can pick this up without entering the room. When you get to the Ouija board room, check one of the cabinets to find a note with "363853..." written on it. Go over to the Ouija board and enter 363853354 and hit yes. Then check the newly opened shelf in front of the board for M#16. Congrats on achieving:

After the knife dialogue, look at the bathtub. Interact with it by holding cn_RT. Do this 3 times until you wake up in the bathroom. When you wake up, pick up the jar from the bathtub. Leave the bathroom and walk over to your canvas. The room will suddenly change and a checkers board will appear in the center. Here you simply have to pick up a number of checkers pieces and go stand by and stare at the checkers pieces until it moves the pieces. New rooms will appear after each sequence.

Sequence 1: When you first arrive in the checkers room. there are two pieces; one on either side of room. Go stand by and stare at checkers board.

Sequence 2: When the baby room appears, go and find the one piece on the chair. Go stand by and stare at checkers board.

Sequence 3: Go over to the new area, walk past the phonograph until you hear a click and start seeing items flying through the air. After about 30 seconds, go stand by that painting and look up. One piece will fall to the ground. Go stand by and stare at checkers board/walk towards the new painting.

Sequence 4: When the bathroom appears, find two pieces on top of the staircase and on top of the bathroom cabinet. Go stand by and stare at checkers board.

Sequence 5: When the kitchen appears, go pick up the one piece from the scale. A hatch will open to your right. Go grab the weight and put it on the scale, then go stand by and stare at checkers board.

Sequence 6: Go over and look at the fur boy painting and wait for it to change. Go stand by and stare at checkers board again. Wait for the room to start shaking and the painting to approach you. Go look at it and you'll be back in your MOR. Interact with the canvas to finish the main game.

Epilogue:

Word #25 (Bandages) - After walking past the big room with the crank and the pit, go down the dark hall and check the open room on the right.

Memento #16 (Couple holding hands) - This one is in the Ouija board room. Check one of the cabinets to find a note with "363853..." written on it. Go over to the Ouija board and enter 363853354 and hit yes. Then check the newly opened shelf in front of the board for this one.

Rat Drawing #16 ("Vermin Groth") After the long hallway with the wheelchair, in the very next room, check the open wall on the left.

Word #27 (Knife) - In the room after the previous, check in the sink.

The numbers in the video correspond to the collectibles in this guide. All you need to do is find the one you're missing using the video, and then find that particular collectible in one of the chapter pages.

This page will provide information on achieving each of the three endings in the game.

Before I get into the endings, I want to quickly go over the "I know what I want" achievement. This achievement is still a mystery, as many people have reported it to unlock at different times. Possible requirements are as follows:

  • Complete the game twice and see two different endings.
  • Complete the game seeing either Ending 1 or Ending 3. You essentially make up your mind in these two endings.

There are three endings you need to witness before you receive your completion.

Ending 1:

The endings are confirmed to work on a point system. For every good/bad thing you do in relation to the endings, you receive or lose a "point". The number of points you get will determine your ending.

Ending 1: Self-portrait ending (AKA the selfish ending):

This is achieved for essentially being selfish throughout the game. Ignoring your family and focusing on your paintings. Possible contributors to this ending:
- Deathless run (never go near wife)
- Stare at paintings frequently
- Follow rats whenever possible and stare at the disappearing rats.
- Interacting with only story related items OR items relating to your selfish personality (crooked glasses is an example)
- Possibly achieved on a slower run.
- Possibly achieved for going below the neutral ending.

  • While you shouldn't have too much issue seeing this ending, you may use the video below to help. In my experience, collecting perishable collectibles does not impact on the ending.

Ending 2: Wife ending (AKA neutral ending):

This is confirmed to be the neutral (loop) ending and is achieved for gaining a neutral number of points in relation to the other two endings. I gather that the vast majority of people received the wife ending as their first ending because they aren't necessarily aware of the different endings and thus they don't play with this in mind. In other words, they will most likely stop and smell the roses, pick up a lot of items, and possibly die once or twice. The Finishing Touch achievement has been reported to only unlock after seeing this ending. This ending is the easiest to see.

- While you shouldn't have too much issue seeing this ending, you may use the video below to help. You need to do every single thing done exactly as it is done in the video to increase your chance of receiving this ending. This literally includes looking at the same walls, spending the same time in rooms, spending same time looking at objects etc. I can't emphasis the word exact enough here.

Ending 3: Wife and child ending (AKA family/regretful ending):

- Throughout the game you should ignore anything relating to your selfish past (except story objects of course)
- Pick up items relating to your wife
- Approach your wife at EVERY encounter and "embrace" her
- Ignore rats and paintings as much as possible
- During the child chapter, approach the child in the red hall rather than back away

- Seeing as it's the most tricky ending to witness, I'd highly recommend you precisely follow the video below. You need to do every single thing done exactly as it is done in the video to increase your chance of receiving this ending. This literally includes looking at the same walls, spending the same time in rooms, spending same time looking at objects etc. I can't emphasis the word exact enough here.

When you start, turn around and pick up N#1 behind you. Then continue and check the third drawer after entering the main hall. Another N#2 will be here. Turn around and look in the corner beside the entrance corridor. There’s another N#3 on the side here. Go into the room on the rightmost side of the room. This is the kitchen. Go to the back of the room and stare at the door till a flashback occurs. In this flashback, click on the door to let the dog out. Once the flashback ends, enter the pantry and pick up P#1. Head out and into the bathroom to the right. Pick up N#4 by the bath. Head out of the bathroom and right into the rat trap room. Wait for the flashback. During the flashback, interact with the lock. After that, pick up P#2 on the floor. Head out and into the door next to the stairs. Head down the stairs and continue until you are blocked and receive a flashback. During the flashback, interact with the sheet on the left. After the flashback, pick up P#3 to the left. Before leaving the basement, check one of the tables in the same area for N#5. Head back up the stairs and to the right, into the workshop. Head over to the shelves and wait for a flashback to appear.

Once the flashback finishes, you can choose the paint brush or the crayon, pick the crayon and use on the easel. Once in the fable lands, head south along the purple path. At the end of the path is a stage with curtains. Interact with this. After the tale is over, head back to the middle (where your easel is) and head north, remember to activate the red lever beside your easel. Follow the red path until you reach a danger sign. Just past that should be a crayon. Pick it up and head back to your easel and interact with it. Then, look to the right and pick up the paint brush. Use it on the easel. Once in the house, head to the South West area and find the red paint. Head back to the easel and interact. After the painting changes, head left and round. Follow the path until you see a painting on the ground. Turn around and you should see the cupboard moving towards you. Ignore it and continue on till you see a hill with toys everywhere. Here you need to push the basketball up the hill. It’s easier to hug it against the wall while pushing. Push it up and then walk over it to reach the black paint. Once you wake up, follow the linear path until you reach your easel. Interact with it. Now, look to the right of the painting and on the ground will be a picture. Pick it up, then pick up the crayon. Interact with the easel again. Now, head past your easel and hold the sword until you have it. Now, you need to look around for the serpent. Once you go near it, it will die and you will receive:

Go back to the middle and head down the green and yellow path. Turn right at the split and pick up the drawing. Then head behind the trees and forward till you reach another lit area (this is the left side of the split) there should be a drawing on the ground here, pick it up. Now head back to your easel. Head down the south (grey) path and at the split, head left. Pick up the photo, then wait till you can move again, then head down the right split. Head up the ladder and interact with the door. Wait until the cutscene is over, then pick up the crayon on the ground. Head back to your easel but DON’T INTERACT WITH IT YET. Instead, head down the NE brown path and interact with the stage again. After this, head back to the easel and interact with it. Now, head SW down the white path and pick up the picture on the ground below the giant doll. Head back to the middle and go north down the purple path. Before heading left or right at the split, pick up the picture below the sign. Head left down the split and pick up the drawing. Now head down the right split. When you see a toy horse on the ground, pick up the picture next to it. Then head into the pink house to past it. Go down the corridor until you’re back outside the house. Turn around and head back to the easel. When back in the middle, head right and down the brown path. Head all the way till you’re in an area with red lights on the ground and chairs everywhere. Walk around here for the moment until you receive:

Now head back to the easel and go down the green/yellow path. Head left and crank the music box until the crayon pops out. Head back to the middle and use crayon/use paint brush. Paint brush: once back in doors, walk left past the easel and out of the room. Turn left and follow it round until you can exit on the right. Follow this path round until you can once again exit on the right. After exiting, go left and find the yellow paint on the table. Go back into the previous hall, but go right this time. Follow the paths round to the left until you’re back to the easel. Interact with it.

Once the vision is over, pick up both pictures on the cabinets for P#4. Head out of the workshop and up the stairs. Head left into the bedroom and look at the gramophone for a flashback. During the flashback, interact with the gramophone. After the flashback, turn around and find P#5 in the closet. Head onto the landing and over to the couch. Look on the ground for N#6. Then walk around the couch for a flashback. During the flashback, interact with the dog. After the flashback, head past the bedroom and pick up P#6 on a table. Turn around and walk to the left of the office, with a white door at the end. Before going in the white door, go into the door on the right. Search the corners to find P#7. Exit and head into the white door. Go over to the blurry painting and look at it for a flashback. Here, you need to keep your crosshair on your father. You will often be forced to move but just keep moving it towards your father. After the flashback, look below the painting to find P#8.

Exit this room and head into the father’s office. Look at the picture on the desk to initiate a vision. When you respawn, head right and follow the father’s portrait. Continue on until you reach a room with a piano. Here, you need to mash any of the keys until your mother says “Hey, I have an idea. Go get your crayons.” When she says this, go check one of the cabinets in the room to find the crayons. Now head back to the piano and look at the sheet music. It will now have coloured shapes which relate to keys on the piano. Just simply press the right keys in succession. Do it slowly though as it’s easy to mess up. Eventually your father will be pleased with you. Head out of the room and down the hall. In the next room, go over to the shelves next to the clock and open them to create a ladder. Now, look at the clock face and interact with it. The room layout will change. Your goal here is to seek out a code and two pictures (one in the shelves and the other on a chair). You may need to change the layout numerous times before you find everything. The code can spawn in one of three places:

In the shelves to the right of the clock.

In the shelves on the other side of the room.

On the table.

When you have the code, use it on the safe on the other side of the room. Interact with the item in the safe for a sub-memory. After you have everything, head out of the room and down the hall. In the next room, head right again in favour of your father. Continue until you reach a room with an open box with an X on it. Look in here for N#7. Exit and keep heading straight until you reach a wall with fire on it. Turn around and go towards another wall. Keep turning until you see a rocking horse. Head to it. Once that’s over, look on the ground to find a toy train. Pick this up for a sub-memory. Exit and continue down the path. Look on the left wall to see a picture fall off. Now turn around and continue.

In the next room, head over to the cabinet by the table to find a segment of a picture. Now, head left and up the stairs. Go around the table and move the picture to find another segment. Head up the stairs once more and go over to where the table was. Interact with the cupboard and wait for the picture to fall down from above. Pick it up and go downstairs this time. Head left and find the picture of the girl and dog. Now head up the stairs two times. On the landing, interact with the picture on the left wall for a sub memory. Head into the next room and push the vase off the table to find a key. Use it on the cabinet in the room for a picture. Continue and head right for your father once again. When you reach a plank heading up, don’t go up it, instead, go around it to find N#8. Head up the plank and move the steps so you can continue. Then interact with the pink cake for another sub memory. Move the steps once again and go forward. Now open the drawers so you can climb up. Interact with the red ball to make it fall, then head up by opening another drawer to make a step. When you reach a split path, first go right to move the plank in the middle. Now head the other way and interact with the brown cake for another sub memory. Go down the path and find yet another cake for another memory. Continue through the hall and into the room with the couch. Now simply wait a minute for the cutscene to end. When you wake up, interact with the test tube/bottle on the floor for another memory. Exit the room and head straight and open the door to find another note, N#9. Turn around and head left down the hall. In the next room, climb on the couch and reach to the shelves to the right of it to knock down a red wheel. Pick it up and head over to the frowning toy cat. Pick up the key and interact with the cat until it smiles. Now you need to stay close to it as it moves through the next area. Once you reach the end, enter the next room and look at the shrine to end the quarrel vision and unlock:
