Metro: Last Light (JP)

Welcome to the Metro: Last Light Walkthrough! Below is the description of the game, by 4A Games:

It is the year 2034. Beneath the ruins of post-apocalyptic Moscow, in the tunnels of the Metro, the remnants of mankind are besieged by deadly threats from outside – and within. Mutants stalk the catacombs beneath the desolate surface, and hunt amidst the poisoned skies above. But rather than stand united, the station-cities of the Metro are locked in a struggle for the military vaults of D6 - a gigantic bunker complex rumored to contain food, medicine, weapons... and maybe more. A civil war is stirring that could wipe humanity from the face of the earth forever. As Artyom, burdened by guilt but driven by hope, you hold the key to our survival – the last light in our darkest hour…

This is a very atmospheric and immersive game, where you can use the stealth approach or kill every human and mutant that you find, however it is recommended to always use the stealth approach as the walkthrough will point out. You'll need to pay attention to a few details in the game like parts in the above-ground when you'll need to use gas masks, filters and be careful with damage of your mask (If it is too broken you can die from radiation).

The game is very story driven, and while you do not need to listen to each conversation, they will give you a sense of context to the story. However, many of these conversations will give you points toward the elusive Redemption ("good ending") achievement and I will only point out these.

Warning: This guide will contain some minor spoilers. I will try to limit them as much as possible but please be forewarned!

I have split the story walkthrough into sections of 5 missions each which will all be stealth guides. You can avoid most combat on Ranger Hardcore this way and will also point out all achievements as they can be gained

- Miscellaneous - Any achievements that may unlock at random and that I cannot guarantee when they will unlock for everyone.

All the collectibles may be found using the chapter select feature, with the exception of the Musician achievement that you can get in Playthrough 1, following the video posted in this section, otherwise you need another playthrough just for this achievement, or you can do it in Playthrough 2 (I don't recommend doing this in Ranger Mode)

This game has 30 chapters most will not take long however, the campaign duration for the 1st playthrough will take you about 10 to 12 hours to complete and about 8 hours on the second playthrough.

Controls of game (when you see Equipment Inventory means that you'll need hold LB and Weapons Inventory means that you'll need hold Y):

Controls

You'll need 2 playthroughs for this game and replay a few chapters of main game for collectibles and remaining achievements. The reason for 2 playthroughs is that one run requires no kills for Shadow Ranger achievement, while the other run requires large amounts of kills for other achievements, and the last run is for the hardest difficulty of the game, called Ranger Hardcore. In order to survive the game without killing any humans, it is pretty much necessary (but not obligatory if you have a good experience in FPS) to play the first time on Easy or Normal. It is simply too difficult to be in the line of fire during a rail section without being able to move or defend yourself.

For make things easier I'll writing the 1st playthrough for easy difficulty. So don't forget: when you select New Game in menu you have (or "you have the option to", nothing is mandatory, obviously) to choose Original Mode > Easy (and Ranger Mode > Ranger Hardcore in your 3rd playthrough).

After a few days the game was released it was discovered that you can kill in your first run and even that way get the achievement for not kill everyone in the game, reducing your number of playthrough to 2, because you can move your Preferences file to another HD (or pendrive) before the final mission of the game, but I will maintain this Walkthrough in 3 playthroughs.

You need to know about rules for Shadow Ranger achievement, given by 4A Games Testers. See in the next page.

Follow this tips for your 1st playthrough:

- Stealth knockouts are crucial. First note: you CAN knock a guard out from the front. Just spam the X button and hope he isn't able to shout first. Sometimes you won't be at the right angle, so make sure you hit him as soon as possible.

- Some achievements will require you to have not raised any alarms, but the game does not tell you whether or not an actual alarm has been raised. Guards can comment to themselves about a noise, but it isn't usually until they start firing that you know you've lost it.

- The good news is that if you fail the entire stealth part, you can replay that level later, or reload last checkpoint, depending of which part of mission you are.

- Some people have claimed that a single kill will ruin Shadow Ranger, even if you reload the checkpoint or the level. Metro support disputes this and says that a reload will cancel the kill. But after that the testers of 4A Games posted new rules for this, you can see in the next page. To be on the safe side, only use non-lethal knockouts.

- Something else to keep in mind is on the level Bandits, where the rails run through the entire level. If you knock out a guard and they fall onto the track, he may later be killed when a train goes down the track. Make sure that you are careful about your knockouts.

- Note: certain "kills" will not count against Shadow Ranger. The prologue will not count. Taking filters off guards in deadly environments will not count, even if you're basically killing them. (Suspend your disbelief.) Shooting your main enemy (ONLY your main enemy) in Red Square will not count, but to be safe do not shoot until you reach the stairwell. Also, during the last mission, destroying the tank will not count (but be careful about the troops around the tank, just in case) and killing ONLY the riot guards and the flame thrower will be acceptable. Killing any other troops in the finale will count against you. Sorry for a few spoilers but is need to understand the requisites of this achievement.

- Turn off every light whenever possible. Not only are there achievements involved, but it also makes it easier for you to sneak. Even when you are playing to kill, stealth will be your friend, even more in the 3rd playthrough.

Tips for game in general:

- Pay attention in the audio of the game, because if you look directly to a NPC (Non Playable Character) you'll hear the normal audio, but if you look to another side and the NPC keep talking the audio will low considerably, making you almost stop hearing the guy/woman talking, so be careful. Anyway, you always can look to the subtitles, but I think that this is a little bug of the game itself.

- Talking about audio, a little resource that have in many games and have in this too is that if you've been seen for some enemies the audio of the game will raise and will come back to be low only when you defeat all enemies in the area that you're seen, or if you have lucky, only when you can escape from sight of them, so be careful in the game and watch out for the audio, that will help you a lot.

- You can see in your watch if you can be visible by others humans/monsters, if your watch displays a blue light you can be visible. See the image below.

Image 1

- One ending achievement is Redemption. In order to earn this, you need enough moral points (you know you've gotten a moral point when you see a white flash and hear a characteristic sound) to affect the ending. However, you won't know how much is enough. It is also possible to lose moral points (by killing and such). Listen to as many conversations as possible, as many of these will give you points. You do not need all of the moral points in the game, but you definitely need most of them. I'll list the link to you see all moral points to do the 2 achievements for the both finals.

- Another useful tip is that the time mark in your watch denoted how much time for your filter do you have. 5 minutes is the maximum time for each filter, and whenever you get more filters in the game your time in your watch will be accumulate, until 59 minutes and 59 seconds (I tested). If your time goes to 1 minute your watch will beep. If your time goes to 0 second and you run out of filter you will be suffocating until death! Artyom will do a disturbing sound!

- Another important thing is that if your mask receive too much damage her will broken and you'll need change for a good mask, if you not change quickly you can die by radiation, even if you have many filters.

- Talking about mask don't forget to preserve your mask when you are in some areas that don't need use them, like some levels that you stay inside of buildings or other facilities. I say this because I often caught myself using the mask and even breaking lead many shots, then realized I was using and it was late. So don't make this mistake, the masks in this game is not so common like filters, weapons and ammo.

- If you jump to other pages in this walkthrough and don't follow the order you can get some minor spoilers of the game itself, nothing to worry about.

- Finally, there are many achievements that are chapter based. You can select your chapter later to redo these achievements if you didn't get them the first time. You can go to Metro: Last Light Walkthrough Page 5 - Levels 11-15, and see some this remaining achievements. I would simply focus your energy the first time on "good ending", Shadow Ranger and Musician achievement.

This game is very good and certainly you don't get sick for playing multiple times.

For this game, we will be doing two playthroughs one on Easy to get the Redemption ending and as many achievements as possible without killing any humans. The second playthrough will be on Ranger Hardcore and will be similar in that you will want to avoid as much combat as possible, also preserving filters. On the second playthrough you will want to kill instead of knocking out enemies, when making decisions make the bad ones as pointed out, avoid optional visions in Dead City and so on.

As such this walkthrough will assume you have the DLC otherwise the second playthrough isn’t needed as you can play through the last few missions. Also ignore any mention of the DLC weapon known as the Abzats Shotgun, which I will mention a few times where it is available as it is one of the better shotguns in the game.

Introduction/Sparta

Load up the game and you will be playing through the Introduction otherwise known as the nightmare sequence. You will have to kill your team-mates who look like Dark Ones, once you stab the last guy this sequence will end.

Khan will wake you up and the game will begin. Once Khan and Ulman have both walked off, feel free to press cn_X on the guitar (Musician 1/17, also moral point) to your left after you picked up your gear on the table.

Moral Point: Listen to the guitar music for a few minutes from across the hall.

Moral Point: Leave the room now and you will hear two Rangers discussing D6, listen the entire conversation to get the point.

Continue down the hall and you will see to your right recruits exercising.

Moral Point: Listen to the instructor berate the two new recruits.

Head around the corner and you will see two Rangers playing checkers.

Moral Point: They will talk about a Ranger squad getting wiped out in the marshes, listen to this for the point.

Moral Point: Go past them and play the balalaika (Musician 2/17).

Now head on through the door and listen to the armourer as he hands out the gear. You should have an idea of what each does: first aid gives health but is limited especially on Ranger Hardcore, gas masks filters are and absolute necessity (Limited amount you can accumulate on Ranger Hardcore). Always search for those and then guns. I would recommend any gun loadout as these won’t stick although on Ranger Hardcore you can find these guns without ammo in the prison level near the periodic chart left of where the release lever for the prison is. So, pick a shotgun like Abzats or Saiga 12K with some scopes and other attachments, a Preved rifle for long range combat and a Kalash for medium range.

Once it is all to your liking. head to the right and go through the tutorial firing range, on Ranger Hardcore it would be best to avoid this as ammo isn’t always in the box on the right. Once complete you will get:

Rabbit

Moral Point: Stay at the firing range until the moral point shows up a minute later.

Now exit through the doors next to you and enter what appears to be a cafeteria.

Moral Point: Listen to the conversation taking place here.

Now meet up with Khan and Ulman, keep following them onto a lift that goes down to the next area and get some plot development from some Rangers on another lift. Once you reach the destination follow them again through the doors and towards the briefing room.

This is a rather long conversation where you meet Miller and Anna the sniper while discussing the mission of the Dark One. After Khan is ushered out of the room, stick around for:

Moral Point: Gained by listening to Miller’s concerns about Lesnitsky.

Now you can leave to your right and before getting on the elevator is the first of the diaries sitting on a chair just to the right of the elevator. (Artyom Diary 1/43)

Listen Anna talk for a little while, then get off the elevator and wait for the train to show up. Follow Anna onto the train and depart for the next level.

Ashes

Moral Point: As soon as the level has loaded, walk to the other end of the train once at the very back you will get this point.

Now walk back to where Anna is still talking and wait for the train to stop and the doors will open. Head to the left to a door, Anna will say she is covering the entrance so pull the lever to the right of the door and then enter.

You will need to head up some stairs full of bodies, enter through the doorway and open another door. Anna will move towards a ladder, ignore her and head to the right where a creature will run off. At the end, you will see cobwebs to your left up-dpad to equip the light and burn them to reach a corpse. The corpse will have a note on him (Artyom Diary 2/43) and some supplies, grab them and run back to the ladder. Follow the instructions and put a gas mask on, then climb the ladder and head out into the wasteland.

Run past the HIND helicopter wreck, and follow Anna towards an arch which you will climb as Anna in a future DLC level.

Moral Point: Stay next to Anna and listen to her whole conversation for the final point in this level.

Move on and to the left will be a rusted bus with a corpse in the back left of that area, you can get some supplies off the corpse there. Move on down the level into a large area, for this part you will want to not take damage.

Don’t take damage here, reload checkpoint if you get hit.

There will be Watchers your second mutant encounter so far (The Lurker that ran off earlier being the first). Note their attack pattern as follows:

  1. They will crawl over the crater to your right, on easy Anna will kill one or two of them. Use the Kalash you to kill them before they get close, switch to a shotgun if they get close.
  2. Then a group of four or more Watchers will show in front of you, dropping down into the level. These don’t pose much of a threat given their distance to you.
  3. Another group of four or more to your left, they can get close quickly so use the shotgun to make short work of them.
  4. Again, in front, the final group will emerge however they are mostly killed by Anna. Once those are dead you are in the clear.

Run forward now and take the path to your left, follow the dark one through here. The game will instruct you to crawl through some hole. Once through, you can loot the corpse and run on towards an obstacle you can jump over. Keep on running down this path until you reach a dead-end where a wounded Baby Dark One will await you.

Succumb to the vision and the level will end with you being captured by the Fourth Reich aka Russian Nazis. Also, you will get:

Not A Rabbit

Finish the ASHES level without taking a hit.

Pavel

This level will act as a tutorial to stealth, when prompted always press cn_X to knock them out. Any other action will result in a kill and a restart of the game however I will point out at the end a trick to get this if you do accidentally kill a human during the game.

Anyway, listen to the Officer interrogate the ‘Mutant’, after a measurement and summary execution, they will move onto the Communists. Another guy will be executed and the other-one will agree to give information. They will move onto you and then after more talking you get a chance to grab the Officer. Your new friend Pavel will stab the officer and talk some more. Eventually you can leave this room through the garbage chute after Pavel opens the chute and follow him to the prison section of the level.

When following him stick to the shadows of the fan-blade moving around, follow him across and wait for him to give up on the gate. Help him get up the ladder, so he can drop it for you. Follow Pavel, listening to his instructions eventually you will reach a pipe and be told to take the guard out on the right. You will split up, sneak up on the soldier and wait for his friend to check out a noise. Knock the guard out and pull the lever in front of him to drop a ramp to your right. Go up this and immediately in front of you will be a light, press X to unscrew the bulb. Go left across the bridge and knock out the guard that is on the other side berating prisoners. Move back a little and climb the ladder up to the next area and into the vent to reach a new area.

Crawl through the pipe, no need to listen to the conversation for points and drop down. Your character will grab a new weapon, throwing knives however we won’t be using these. Turn around after picking up the rest of the knives and on the other side of the room is a note (Artyom Diary 3/43) on a box. Unscrew the light to your right and when the guard is not looking in your direction take him down. Unscrew the light at the end of this corridor as-well, and go up the ramp to push the green button. As soon as you do this run to your left and duck down to the right of the dead guard, wait for a guard to come out and see what the fuss is about. When he goes onto the catwalk in front of you, sneak up behind and knock him out.

Now you can meet up with Pavel in the area the guard came out of, he will chuck you a silenced revolver and the new area will open up. Look to your right and pull the lever, unscrew the light-bulb and hug the right wall. Move up while crouched and as you move up, the guy to your left will be killed by Pavel. Go up the ladder to your right and move along cat-walk, take a left up here and drop down to the right at the end of the bridge. In the left doorway, a guard will be on a chair knock him out and then the guy taking stock to your right. Unscrew and blow out any light then go across the small river. To your right you will see some stairs, use those then take out the first guy in front and then the guy to the right. Once they are all knocked out on Ranger Hardcore you can grab your weapons from before in a red box below the periodic chart, you will need them. In front will be the table with the knocked-out guard, pull the lever on the left part of the desk for a moral point and an achievement:

Freedom!

Free the Prisoners.

Freedom!
Offline Game ModeSingle Player

Go to where Pavel is waiting once you have done looting the bodies, pull the lever on right to open the large doors and exit the level.

Reich

Follow Pavel, grab the diary on the desk in front of you before sprinting up the escalators to your right (Artyom Diary 4/43). Up the escalators and follow Pavel through the crowd who are listening to the Führer’s speech. Do not follow Pavel, instead stop and listen to the Führer’s speech for a moral point. Now follow Pavel again once the speech has ended and as you get near the end of this area, the Führer will be alerted to the escape and Pavel will shoot his revolver in the air. Run after Pavel and jump over the gap when he does, at the end of this area you will roll under a closing door and be injured. Don’t shoot at the soldiers once in the cart and instead flee to the end of the level. For a free negative moral point on Ranger Hardcore kill the surrendering soldier to your right. You will get this quite easily:

Clean Escape

Escape the chasing Nazis on the REICH level without being caught once.

Separation

At the start, Pavel in his infinite wisdom will go through the vent and end up getting himself in trouble. Meanwhile some patrolling guards will come out to see if there were anymore people out there, you will have some time to duck into cover near where Pavel fell through. Left of this is some cover nearest the door, crouch and wait for them to go down the alley. On Ranger Hardcore use them for throwing knife practice, otherwise knock them both out the normal way. Now head into the new area and stick to the left, you will see a convenient ramp of boxes. Quickly crouch up here and drop down on the other side. Unscrew the light near you to attract a guard’s attention, he can be knocked out when he starts muttering at the light. Just move left into the darkness to avoid being detected.

Now we have to quickly sneak upstairs so those downstairs don’t notice us. There are two guards up here, one patrolling the walkway and one inside the building. Wait for the one inside to walk away and knock him out. Then do the same to the second guard. On the consoles up here is another collectable (Artyom Diary 5/43), this is the one facing where you came into this area. At the very back of this area is a stairway leading down. After heading down, to your right is a doorway go through here and blow out the torch. Go around the shelves and there is another staircase leading out of this section.

Once you open this door a guy will surrender you can kill him while on Ranger Hardcore for a negative moral point or leave him be/knock him out for the moral point later. On the desk to the left will be another diary (Artyom Diary 6/43) and some ammo. Now exit this room and to your right is the exit vent, go forward down the stairs and to the left for some MG rounds then exit through the vent.

If you remained stealthy you will get:

Complete the SEPARATION level without killing or raising alarm.

Facility

You will exit a vent after watching some scenes unfold, keep crawling until you exit. Walk forward and blow out the light. Crouch and move forward, listen to this scene for a moral point. Once they finish talking move to the right and blow out the torch on the stairs. There will be some boxes in front of you go behind them and listen to the conversation between the two. Wait behind the boxes while one stairs at a switch, once he walks on take out the guy boxing. There are knives on the wall behind where he was boxing.

Go back the way you came now and just past the switch is a green door you can open. Knock out the guard rummaging in the lockers in this new area. Loot the pistol here for this achievement and a moral point:

A Present

Take the Custom Pistol from the Locked Box.

A Present
Offline Game ModeSingle PlayerCollectable

Loot this area before moving on, once done exit and head upstairs and listen to the soldiers talk. Once they start walking away you should get the moral point. Use the switch they were near to turn off the lights and head backwards behind some boxes. One of guards will slowly walk over and stare at the lights. Knock him out and move across the middle to knock out the other soldier. Head down the stairs on the other-side and there is a red door to your right. Open it and knock out the soldier puking, also the light can be taken out.

To your right now a soldier will come out for a smoke break, knock him out and watch the guy walking around the middle area. Stick to the left and slip around him to knock out the guard eating. Another soldier will be tinkering with something on the far side of the room, knock him out as-well. Now move to the left of this guy and there will a bench with an accordion, play it (Musician 3/17).

Now head back to where the smoker was and to the left is the level exit, don’t touch the guy cowering in the meat locker. Ignore him and move on, of course on Ranger Hardcore feel free to execute him for a negative moral point. Exit out the vent at the back for a moral point if you left him alone.

Move past all the bathtubs and you can grab some ammo from a ranger stash to the right before entering the next area if you want. Head to the left once they are done talking and hit the light switch, move back to where you came from and wait in crouch for the soldier to slowly walk over to the light. When he gets there knock him out, now move across the dodgy bridge to your right and wait for the next soldier to move. Once he starts looking at a diagram knock him out and blow out the torch. Go to the area where he came from and knock out the guy on your right in an armchair. Blow out the light as-well and then go to the corner and wait for another soldier with a clipboard to walk by. Knock him out and then knock out the guy sitting on the crate.

Now go back to the armchair and go down the vent for a moral point and some ammo, head the other way to exit and go down the stairs to the next area. Loot the lockers if you want and drop down into the sewer entrance underneath the stairs you went down. Follow this and you will be below some guards talking about the hanging, stay for a moral point. Now continue on and knock out the soldier down here.

Now head back a little and to the left is a small alcove with a ladder leading up. Head on up and check the two soldiers behind you and cross the walkway to your right. Duck to the right and blow out the light plus knock out the power. You will see a guy in the corner here sleeping, knock him out and the guard that goes to check out the power outage. Now go back across the walkway and knock out the guard leaning on the barrels to your left. Now go forward and hide in the corner and face the walkway, wait for the other soldier to go back out of the light then knock him out as-well. Take out the light on the nearby sewer entrance for later.

Head back to the walkway and up the stairs to the left and go forward, to the left is some stairs wait for the soldiers nearby to finish talking. Knock out the one to your right and head across the ways using the barrels to avoid detection. Knock out the guard using the workbench and drop into the sewer. Go forward and grab some MGR then move to the left and left again, find the exit at the end. A soldier will be here knock them out and the power as-well as the light nearby. Duck around to the right and knock out the soldier as he approaches the power box. Now head across and up the stairs to knock out the final guard for this area. Where he came from on the desk to the left is the diary (Artyom Diary 7/43).

Now we can exit the area by pulling the lever which you’ll see after leaving the room with the diary. Exit out of this area now and drop down to right. Disarm the tripwire in your way (Trap 1/10) and you will get a moral point for not killing anyone as-well as:

Invisible Savior

Complete the FACILITY level without killing or raising alarm.

Now exit through the crack in the wall and save your friend from hanging. Do this by waiting for one to walk backwards, knock him out without alerting the other guard. Then knock the guard to your right and then finally a pallet to Pavel’s left will contain the rope you need to cut.

Exit with Pavel to end the level.

Torchlight

Starting from where we left off we will follow Pavel for the most part in this level. As you are walking along loot corpses for supplies. The Reich will turn off the lights and you will get a tutorial on using the lighter to burn webs. Burn the webs and follow Pavel, he will drop down a hole. Follow him through here to an elevator, go left through the webs for a moral point and some supplies. Now get into the elevator for another moral point. As the elevator ride goes on you will need to use your light to fend off Spider attacks for yet another moral point. On Ranger Hardcore leave your flashlight off during the ride for a negative moral point.

Once you exit the elevator a Spider will jump on Pavel, saving him will earn a moral point while not saving him will get a negative moral point. He will now open a door, while he does that grab some supplies from behind the barrel and also once through the door take the right path for even more supplies. Now follow him once again and he will lead you to the bridge. However, there is a dead end stopping your progress across the bridge.

At this point Spiders will attack from behind you both left and right. On the lower difficulty you can let them get up onto the bridge to work on Tortoise which is getting them to flip onto their belly. On Ranger Hardcore we will just beam them off from left to right without wasting ammo.

Now pole-vault after Pavel and prepare for another Spider attack. After this help your partner up on top of the train where we will find a diary (Artyom Diary 8/43) to your right. Rush across the train and fend off the female spider that follows you. Now swing across with Pavel and follow him a short way. Fend off yet another Spider attack and then Pavel will light a torch. From here stick close until he reaches the end of this area and lights some junk on fire for a moral point.

Unsurprisingly you are tasked with going off and putting the power back on to get out of this level. Follow the path a short way to find it won’t be so easy, take the dark path and look around to the left for a small room with a body. Take the diary (Artyom Diary 9/43) from the body and continue on, for lower difficulties just sprint through and turn the lights back on. On Ranger Hardcore slowly back-pedal while your flashlight is trained on them, so they won’t attack you. Once the power is back on you can exit to the left (Ranger Stash here for supplies) and down the drop-off you passed earlier. Meet up with Pavel to exit the level.

Echoes

At the start you will be in a ruined bar, grab the ammo as-well as the diary (Artyom Diary 10/43) on the counter earning:

First Draft

Write 10 of Artyom's hidden Diary pages.

First Draft

Then put on the gas mask as instructed by Pavel. He will lead you to the surface however ignore him and go underneath the stairs and around the dumpster into the hole in the wall. In this room is a safe with lots of useful supplies. Now head upstairs and exit outside, while he talks feel free to loot this section of the building for supplies. He will slide down a ramp, ignore him as usual and go to the left of this ramp to find a broken pipe. Crawl into here and at the end receive a moral point and supplies for your troubles. Exit the pipe and follow Pavel towards the tail section of the plane. Go into the entrance here for a moral point and a filter, then follow Pavel to the crossing.

As you go through the crossing Pavel will point out a corpse, loot it for supplies and to get a new mask on Ranger Hardcore. There will be a doorway to your right that will contain another moral point and supplies. Now at the stairway that exits outside once again, where Pavel is standing is another doorway. Follow the tunnel to a room and pickup the Duplet on the table for a moral point as-well as a jump-scare. Kill the Nosalis, pickup your weapon again if you want and head back to Pavel once again.

Pavel will warn you about a herd of Watchmen coming your way stay down and let them pass for a moral point. Attacking them will earn you a negative moral point however on Ranger Hardcore we will ignore this for obvious reasons. If you didn't attack them you will get an achievement:

Mouse

Complete the ECHOES level undetected by the Watchmen.

Now Pavel will lead you to a plane, once inside head to the back for two visions. Once in the next section you will get a moral point for watching the visions. As Pavel reaches the cockpit you will see to your right a diary (Artyom Diary 11/43). Now watch the hallucination and then save Pavlov. Listen to him for a moral point and then follow him to exit the plane.

A Demon will fly down and try to kill you, shoot it and move on around the corner killing the Nosalis as they attack. Once done with all of that you will get boosted into the station with Pavel kill four or so Nosalis shortly after. Rush down the escalators now and fend the Nosalis off until you are overwhelmed. You will be dragged into the station and the level will end.

Bolshoi

You will have a conversation with the station guards, after this you will be let free to wander the station. As you exit the checkpoint there will be a diary on the shelf to your left (Artyom Diary 12/43). Keep following Pavel and you will overhear a couple arguing, listen to this for a moral point.

Once you and Pavel part ways look to the right and play this instrument (Musician 4/17) then head out to the station platform and listen to the refugees in the railcar argue with the guards for a moral point. Now there is a theatre critic begging on the ground pay one bullet and listen to get a moral point, then another after he finishes speaking for another moral point. Now head to the bar for another moral point after listening to the patrons talk. Keep walking, play the guitar on the ground just after the bar to your left (Musician 5/17) and listen to the stalkers delivering the bad news to a woman for another moral point. The two girls right near here will also talk giving another moral point for hearing their conversation and following them.

Head back the way you came from and you will pass a shadow-puppet show, set the controller down and get another moral point at the end of this. Now just before entering the theatre to your left is a stand with an instrument on it, play it (Musician 6/17) enter the theatre area and a guy will try to sell you contraband, after failing to convince you he will walk off earning another moral point.

Before entering the theatre we want to go to the merchant and knock out an achievement, you can buy a knife for 2 bullets and sell it for 1 bullet until you have no bullets. Reload a checkpoint and repeat until this unlocks:

Before sitting down with Pavel as you enter this area to your right near a table is another instrument on the ground (Musician 7/17). Now sit down and listen to the conversation, what a surprise betrayal.

Crawl through and listen to Korbut and Moskvin talk it out for a moral point and some more plot. You can also watch the squad get ready and talk to their leader for no points. And then exit to start the next level.

Revolution

This level has achievements related to both a stealth and full combat path. You will need to do two runs of the level.

For this mission you will have to do it without killing or being seen and then do a run through killing everyone.

You will drop down and grab your gear, search the area for supplies and above all air filters. Turn off the light and open the door, use the right wall as cover and move close to the metal detector. As you get close duck to the right to avoid detection. Start heading over the table and knock out the standing guy in front. Then the guy looking at the table and head downstairs to see a soldier moving into the a nearby room. Loot the locker room and listen to the conversation for a moral point, once he has done talking you can knock him out. Grab the diary on the desk to the left (Artyom Diary 14/43) and play the instrument behind the desk (Musician 8/17).

Now exit out of this room and turn off the fuse box to your right and head to the left. You will hear a soldier grinding away, knock him out and a guy trying to light a fire, knock him out as-well. Loot the supplies here and go back to the right of the room. Sneak past the crane operator fitting a vent, feel free to blow out the light and loot the supplies in the vent on your way. Sneak around the crane avoiding it’s light. A soldier will pass you and now you will see a group of them talking about getting the others working. Sneak around to the right, be careful going near the grate as the soldier there might see you. Go into the area where the guy was seen sitting on a chair, turn off the fuse box. Hide and wait for him to go investigate. Knock him out when he shows up and pull the lever nearby to open another area.

A guard will investigate so be careful when he returns to his fire knock him out. This next area contains three soldiers, take them out in this order once they separate the guy to the right, the one walking away and then the one doing pull-ups. Alter this order depending on which AI is closest. The diary is in this area just past the desk (Artyom Diary 15/43) and the piano is where the first guy was knocked out (Musician 9/17). Don’t touch the lockers as one is wired to blow.

Now go into the area to the right where two guys are in the supply room discussing the Frontlines mission from Metro 2033, listen to this entire conversation for a moral point. Now go all the way back to the room with the armoured train, head to the right sticking to the wall and duck behind the debris while the crane operator talks for a moral point. Now you can go to your right into the green door to progress.

Hide behind the green canisters once you enter this area, let them complete their first check and then move to right to turn off a fuse box. Climb the ladder here and move along the pipes, stop when they start doing the next check. At the end of these pipes grab the Tikhar and to the right is a ladder, go down and drop into the opening to the underground area. Go forward, right, straight and then left. Climb the ladder that should be there, go across the room sticking to the right wall. On the other side is another ladder, climb it and wait for the moral point that occurs once they finish their last check and go for a smoke break.

The guard in the middle room is a very tricky guy even on the lower difficulty, wait until he isn’t looking in your direction and sneak over. Knock him out and grab the diary on the desk here (Artyom Diary 16/43) and pull the lever next to it to stop the fan. Sneak in through where the fan is to enter the next area and climb down the ladder on your right.

Listen to the soldiers talk for a moral point and wait for one of them to leave, knock out the other soldier and grab the diary on the desk (Artyom Diary 17/43). Stick to the wall on the right and cross to the other side of the room to get find a shifty looking ladder. Climb it and get onto the pipes, follow them across to the other side and on the right may be a soldier. Carefully slide down over the edge when the guard has gone and sneak to the right before exiting open the locker, play the accordion (Musician 10/17). Now open the door and exit.

This area has a machine gunner in the centre, sneak along the left and let him talk to the other guy for a moral point. Now cross the room to the left of the gunner and stick to the left wall and duck behind some canisters. A large group of soldiers will pass, now you can enter the area where they came from. Hide to the right and wait for the soldier to turn around, knock him out and exit the level through the vents.

You should get the achievement if you didn’t kill anyone or raise any alarms:

For the derailed run:

From the start exit the room and kill the 3 enemies to your right. Go downstairs and go to the left through the doorway, open the door. In this area there are a lot of enemies and we will want to raise the alarm to spawn the extra enemies. There is a crane operator who won't fight back that will be hiding in one of corners to your right.

Go to the right in this area and at the back is a lever you can pull. This will open up the barracks area, shoot the first guy and then the few enemies in here. Go in and to the right past the supply room is an entrance into the garage. In here are three more enemies to kill. Go back into the main room and go right through the doorway into a room with gas, put on your gas-mask. Kill everyone in here and go upstairs to pull the lever, this will stop the fan allowing you to enter the warehouse room.

In the warehouse room are two alarms that set off unleashing two heavy's each time, once the room you can go through the door at the back on the right. This area has a heavy gunner and one other enemy, shoot the turret guy from behind. A large door will open revealing a large group of enemies, kill them all as-well to get:

Regina

You will start the mission talking to a guy who will then introduce you to Regina. We will drive Regina until we come to our first stopping point on the left, a light will show a staircase. Go up the stairs and burn the cobwebs. The room here will give you a moral point, an accordion (Musician 11/17) and some supplies for later. Exit the room and get back on Regina.

Ride the railcar for a but longer until you see the next lighted area, this room will be very dark however the bodies here provide supplies. Use your light on the Spiders to continue towards that achievement, beware they will swarm so shoot some to keep their numbers down. Once at the back of this room to the left is a red lighted room with a fuse box upon entering you will get a moral point. Loot the room and carry on, you can loot the first room now as-well without Spiders bothering you.

Get back in the railcar and drive on for a little bit longer this time. The Spiders will leave you alone, the next room is again on the left look for a green light to spot it. Enter and turn on the fuse box. Explore here to find a Spider and a room that gives you a moral point. Upon leaving you will be ambushed by a Spider.

Drive on to the next area, which happens to be behind a door that isn’t open. Try the lever then head to right grabbing some filters for later on the way. Open the door with your light on hand, more bodies with supplies here. Lots of Spiders here, clear your way through them and reach the Fuse to clear them out and allow you to progress. Exit out into the tunnel and open the large door, put on your mask while you are at it.

Drive through the barrier ahead and collect a moral point, loot the corpses and boxes. Another moral point for opening the box next to the dead body. Now back up and hit switch on the left wall. Progress along the left path now until the path splits again, stop and enter the train carriage on the left path. Turn around and shoot the Watchman, enter the last carriage now to get the moral point.

Exit and drive down the other now, remember that we don’t Watchmen attack us after we slam into the carriage. First we will stop just short of the carriage and enter the door on the right to get a moral point, free filters/mask as you enter. Shoot the five Watchman that ambush you and proceed to the left. Go around, loot the area now for a safe and loads of ammo. Now exit and ram the carriage to start the achievement section.

Use a shotgun for close range and a rifle of some kind for distance shooting after 4 or so Watchman stop. A door on the left should be there if not drive forward more, in here is a makeshift hospital with some ghosts. Sticking around will give you a moral point, you can loot the supplies and carry on.

Reload and prepare for the next wave after three or so stop and look to the right for a green tunnel. In here is a moral point once you reach the end, shoot two Watchman and three that come from behind. Loot the body for a diary (Artyom Diary 18/43) and move on to the next ambush. There will be two that attack as you exit.

As you drive, reload and shoot the final 6 Watchman, hit the switch on the right and watch the cut-scene that finishes the level. You should get:

Bandits

As you wake up head to the back of Regina to find a corpse and a moral point. Get back into the railcar and drive on it isn’t wrecked yet, go through the wall and you will find some Redline refugees including a trader we will use later. For now, once the confrontation is over, listen to all the conversations here for another moral point. Sprint down the tunnel now and look for an entrance to the right where all the screaming is coming from. We need to be quick here to save woman from the rapists, go into sneak mode and take down the first and the second guy to get the moral point. Another guy will be coming so duck to the right after exiting the carriage. Knock him out ASAP about when he is about to enter the carriage otherwise he raises the alarm.

Go down the tunnel and use a silenced weapon and take out the light on the left. Now head over and knock out the guy where the light was and go around the fire, knock out the guy on the carriage by creeping from behind it then the bandit in front of you standing near a fire. Head down the tunnel knock out another bandit, take out the light in front. Quickly knock out the seated guy then the guy standing. Someone will run off but you can’t save him, untie the refugee that didn’t run off to finish this section off.

You can listen to his conversation for no point then go the right for a dead-end and supplies. Now head back and retrieve Regina now the guy has cleared your path. Stop at the light section to your left for loot and then drive through the irradiated tunnel. At the end to your right is a diary in a bathroom area with the diary on the floor (Artyom Diary 19/43). Alternatively, you can clear the first area out for weapons and sell them at the trader for large amounts of MGR then pick your weapons back up from where you dropped them.

Anyway, at the main bandit camp head into the right. Wait at the entrance for a bandit to walk past, knock him out and then wait for another bandit to start whistling. Use this cue to knock out the one by the fire and then the one that is whistling further down the hallway. Blow out the light then rush bandit leaning against the wall, move forward and another will be standing in your way so knock him out. At the end in a corner to the right is another bandit sleeping so knock him out. You can now loot this place and exit the way you came.

Now head across the tracks and ignore the sleeping bandits, a guy will be seen in the distance staring at the tracks. Knock him out and blow out the torch. Move forward to the last carriage where you must perform a tricky series of knockouts, first to your right as you enter then rush the other before he sees you. Now you can knock out all the sleepers, loots the place and sell all the gear you found at the trader from earlier. Pull the switch at the back of the right area when you are ready to move on.

Grab Regina and drive down the tunnel a little bit then get out as you will hear a patrol. There is a convenient little area to the right you can hide in while they pass. Knock the guy at the back once he stops then catch up with the front bandit, he may change positions on hardcore so sneak behind him and knock him out.

Loot the filter near where you parked Regina and drive on, we want to go down the left tunnel so ignore the switch. At the end is a railcar with loads of bodies that will net you a moral point and loads of supplies scattered everywhere. Now drive back and hit the switch to go down the right tunnel. Enter the door on the right and follow the hallways until you have a chance to duck into a nook on the left. Wait for the bandits to finish talking then follow them through some plastic and knock one then the other.

Now head down the hallway until you reach a lighted area, head forward and knock out the bandit that is sitting. Head out and turn off the light then look to your left for a doorway, wait for the conversation to finish with “How about some tea?”. Now knock out the one doing dishes and then the one sitting there. Head back through the area to the doorway on the right, you should see a bloody corpse. On the table behind him is a diary (Artyom Diary 20/43), now open the door and knock out the bandit in there for a moral point and an achievement:

Now once again you can loot all the bodies for weapons and sell them at the trader before finishing up the level. You can now ram through the barricade at the end of the lighted tunnel, wrecking Regina. Exit and walk to the left and enter this carriage, looting as you go until you reach the end. Now this area contains an easy way to complete it without wasting all your hard-earned ammo on Watchmen. When you are ready ring the bell and use the stairs on your right following the left side drop down onto a wire. Sit in the middle and wait for the ferry to arrive and then race to it. That ends this level.

Dark Water

Right in front of you from the beginning is a diary (Artyom Diary 21/43), this level is mostly scenic however once you hit the Shrimp lair there will be some action. You will be ambushed by two Shrimps, so perform a take-down on both. Grab some ammo and start using explosives on the Shrimp hordes. Shoot any that try to board the boat. Once the battle ends you will be hit by a large wave after that settles you will get a moral point.

Venice

This is an exploration mission, I will guide you through the mostly linear level once we get off the boat and the fishermen stop talking we can begin. On Ranger Hardcore we are going to annoy the fisherman sleeping on the boat to the left and steal his MGR for your shopping spree so we can survive the outdoor heavy sections later. Also gain a negative moral point for your efforts, move forward as you exit the pier and a box in front of you contains a filter.

Feel free to take in the sights before moving on, once done we can move into the market area of Venice. You will see some people loading a pig onto a boat, near them is a beggar who you can give a bullet to for a moral point. Head through here around some barrels, past some fishermen talking around a boat. There will be a guy who will play his guitar and give you a moral point when you give him a bullet. Go back into the market and look for another alley with children drawing on a wall, the third beggar is here. Give him a bullet for a moral point.

Now use the compass to pass across the river where the guys are loading a pig up and look for stairs on the right. Talk to the station master and while listening grab the diary to the left of the desk (Artyom Diary 22/43).

Now we can enter the bar and talk to the bartender, first time trying “The Bullet” will get you a moral point. For some reason getting black out drunk and then paying to fix the bar gives you another moral point. So, keep buying them until you black out and if you are on Ranger Hardcore might as-well ignore the 100 MGR repair fee. Head out the bar and go to the right, look to the left here for a box with supplies. Now head back and to the left past the creepy old guy taking a peep. Tasty roasted rats that we can’t buy and a trader if you want to do business. Now head to the shooting range.

Keep paying MGR and winning three rounds of rat killing. Eventually after shooting lots of rats you will win… a teddy bear! Now to find the child and give her teddy bear back. Just head in the opposite direction and find the crying kid. Give the bear back for a moral point and an achievement:

You softy, now for the last chance to load up on ammo before you head into the unknown. Continue backtracking and enter the club past the strippers, go downstairs. Once the strippers are gone, look on the tank with baby spiders for a diary (Artyom Diary 23/43). Now listen in on the conversation then hide with the stripper until they go. You can get a dance if you want before leaving otherwise follow Pavel out. Exit the club and follow them to a secret back entrance.

Loot the box to the left and enter here to find lots of bandits. Go back to the left for more supplies then to the opposite side to turn off the fuse box. You can sneak around behind the shelves to the right until you get to two guards chatting. Wait for them to split up, take out the one walking off to the left and blow out the light. Go towards the mushroom farm and knock out another guard, then blow out a light. Sneak around to the, on easy you can knock out the guard before he detects you. On Ranger Hardcore you will need to rush him and knock him out before he raises the alarm.

Now enter a conversation with Pavel that ends badly and you will meet up with a friend called Khan who will help you out. We will have to go the opposite way to the surface, put on a bulky rad suit on your way out.

Sundown

We will be outside now; our friend Khan says his goodbyes for now and Artyom will shut the grate after he drops down. Collect supplies and drop down, go to the dead guy as you walk forward for filters. You can now run into the swamp water repeatedly and reload the checkpoint as need until:

Enter the compound in front, red flags help denote safe paths through the swamp area. To the left as you enter the compound is a guard tower, go up the stairs and loot the table in here (Equipped 1/16). Also use the Valve if you still need to on a nearby Shrimp. Exit the watchtower now and go across and to the right to see behind a wrecked car an open red building. Disarm the trap (Trap 2/10) and loot the supplies in here (Equipped 2/16) including the Lolife and exit.

Follow the flags to your left and carefully navigate to the back of the truck here. Disarm the trap here (Trap 3/10) and loot the inside of the truck (Equipped 3/16). Also, you will want these grenades to use on the Shrimps. Now backtrack and head towards a fuel tanker, follow the flags to some wrecked buildings.

Second opening on your left after disarming the trap (Trap 4/10) has a Kalash 2012 and some supplies (Equipped 4/16). Go back to the fuel tanker and head to the left to enter the gas station be wary of the vines that will attack you. In the area with the fuel cans is the next box with supplies (Equipped 5/16). On the desk in this area is the only diary for this level (Artyom Diary 24/43). Interact with the fuel cans and the next objective will pop-up.

Now head back out the way you came, and you will see a beam on the left leading to the roof. Head up and look for a hole in the roof containing a supply box with MGR (Equipped 6/16). Drop down to the right and cross the lamp post. Move onto the plane following the red flagged path to your right and enter it for a cutscene and to achieve the objective. While you wait for the shrimp to leave you alone search the front of the plane for a supply box (Equipped 7/16).

It is worth pointing out that this achievement has some issues with it, firstly that incendiary grenades do not work and secondly that it has to be done in the same life without a checkpoint reset.

Now move on outside and prepare your grenades. We are going to get our 5 shrimp kills with grenades, so hop into the swamp changing position where you jump in so you don’t die. You will be swarmed by shrimps, throw your grenades at them until your run out or you get:

Now hop onto the plane wing and go right over the plane body onto the next wing and drop down to the left. In a corner is a supply box (Equipped 8/16), loot it for loads of shotgun ammo and use the plank on the right to get back across. Duck under the wing, run a bit forward and follow the red flags to a wrecked bus. Go past it until you reach where you call the ferry, instead grab the supplies next to the dead tree (Equipped 9/16)

Fuel up the generator and activate the switch, duck back towards the bus and up a ramp in a ruined building. The button will stop after a short time so prepare incendiary grenades and put MGR rounds in your gun. The Demon will distract the larger shrimp however about 5 or 6 small shrimps will attack you giving you another chance at that achievement. After killing the smaller shrimps get on the ferry and get out of dodge.

Nightfall

Get off the ferry and grab the filters in front of you as-well as the body to the left. Run forward and to the left is a building, in the downstairs area is a heavily irradiated zone with a supply box at the back (Equipped 10/16). Head back out and go upstairs to your left and towards the far left door. There is a tripwire here that needs to be disarmed (Trap 5/10), now open the door and near some jerry cans is the supply box (Equipped 11/16). Next to an over-turned desk at the back is the diary (Artyom Diary 25/43) and a fuse box to turn on. Go back out to the right and another tripwire is in the middle of the room (Trap 6/10), now go over to the night-vision. Pick these up to make the level a bit easier and to get the next objective.

Head out of the building now and go across the way past a wrecked building to find a destroyed bus. Inside the bus is an open supply box with MGR (Equipped 12/16). Now go across the open fields you may be attacked by Watchmen or shrimps. You will see a collapsed highway section, go under it grabbing the filter near the fire and to your right follow the highway to reach a wrecked car. From the wrecked car you will see a wrecked truck, head over and in the back you will find supplies (Equipped 13/16).

Now head back towards the mall, you will go past wrecked buildings with supplies, some Watchmen and a big shrimp will attack you. Defeat them and go towards the flooded area following the red flags to reach the mall entrance. Go up the escalators for a moral point and to your left is a room with a red box containing supplies (Equipped 14/16).

Across the way is a tripwire on the left of the escalators (Trap 7/10) and a room with a tripwire at the entrance (Trap 8/10) with supplies near some bookcases (Equipped 15/16). As you exit to the left there is another tripwire (Trap 9/10). Loot the kitchen, go to the exit grabbing the filter on your right before dropping down. Enter the back of the truck here for your final supplies (Equipped 16/16) to get:

Now back out and do a running jump into the water towards the end area. You will pull yourself out on the other side to do battle with the giant shrimp. Bring the shrimp towards the rangers so they can help you out. On Ranger Hardcore you will want to hit it with MGR and incendiary grenades, keep shooting until it is dead. Don’t worry about the small shrimp the rangers will kill them, now walk across the tree trunk to end the level.

Undercity

In the starting area you will want to turn immediately left and play the balalaika near a sink (Musician 12/17). Now head forward and buy up ammo plus claymores from the trader as the next area is tough, you cannot go back either to this trader as you will see in a second.

Head towards the door once you are ready, the scene will play out and you will be knocked unconscious waking up to find everyone dead. Go downstairs and play the tape on ground next to the dead ranger for a moral point. Loot the area, you will pass a dead guy with a Bastard Gun on your way out.

Follow the corridor lighting torches and burning cobwebs as you go passing a dead guy with a Duplet, once you hear church bells stop. Let the scene play out with the bloody ghosts and once they disappear you will get a moral point. Now proceed to the elevator and loot the area before descending into the depths. A moral point is gain once you enter the elevator, now descend and a Nosalis ambush will be triggered so use a shotgun to clear them out the spawns tend to be hard to predict. Anyway, you will get overwhelmed, hit X and get dragged to a new area, follow the corridor to your right. Remember you have night vision from earlier, anyway you come to a corner where Nosalis sounds are coming from. Crouch and watch the Nosalises retreat to get a moral and a negative moral point is gained for shooting at this horde.

Follow the cave tunnels and you will watch a very large horde pass by for a moral point, heading to the right entrance will lead you to a shrine with candles and lots of supplies for a moral point. Follow the compass to a waterfall, on Hardcore Ranger you might want to use a throwing knife on the distracted Nosalis for an easy kill. The Nosalis will once again ambush you with around 5 of them, kill them with incendiary grenades and if you have the DLC there is an Azbats among a pile of dead bodies. Grab it for later so you don’t have to reload as much.

Now interact with the wheel to the right, enter the next area and to your right is the lift to the bottom. We want to be stealthy here, so we can avoid some misery drop down the broken stairs. Go down the staircase, then behind them is some supplies. Now crouch walk forward and to the left is a sleeping winged Nosalis on the roof, throw a knife at him. Behind the demon is a sleeping Nosalis do the same to him and turn right. Take out the feasting Nosalis and then the sleeping winged Nosalis on the roof. Crouch forward and on the elevated section is another Nosalis to take out, now you can loot the area for your knives and other supplies.

Finding a skeleton with a custom quad duplet will give you a moral point in this area, head upstairs now looting the dead Nosalis for your knife back on your way. You will soon come to the next combat area so turn off your flashlight and use your throwing knives on the two nearby Nosalis. Now creep to the left and you can take out at least two before you have to blast the last of these three.

Loot some ammo and pull the lever, back into the right corner and shoot or burn the incoming Nosalises. After about 14 of them are killed they will stop attacking, now you can enter the lift and exit this area. The slow elevator ride will end, and you will follow a pathway towards a bridge, you will have the first encounter with the Rhino. The bridge will collapse, and you will enter the first phase of two for this boss fight.

Use the claymore and lure him into charging so he hits it. The Rhino will run off opening up a new area to follow him into, grab supplies in this opening. Now drop down into the second phase area and immediately pick off three Nosalis. You can drop a claymore now and lure the Rhino into charging into it. Part of this boss fight is tricking him into destroying the supports, so let him knock out a couple while dodging out of the way. Hit him with another claymore trap and let him go beserk on the supports. Now for a final claymore to finish things off or some bullets in his face to end the fight. You will get:

Starting off where you got spat out, run forward a ways and to your right is an entrance with a body containing ammo. Drop down in the next vent hole and quickly knock out both soldiers to get a moral point. Listen to the dying man you just saved explain things to get another moral point. Now loot the table behind you and exit out the door onto a railway track, head to the right for supplies. Now go left and duck down behind some pallets to shoot out the three lights here.

The next bit is tricky, wait for the soldiers to split up. You can do this without interacting with the soldiers, one will go down to the end of the platform and another will head back inside after loading some boxes. Once he does hop up onto the train and blow out the light. Now quickly crouch and walk your way behind some boxes in the room where the box guy went. One will be busy looking at gas masks, another will be at a table and another the box guy will head back outside. I will point a few more as we go, anyway go to the water and loot the supplies for a moral point. Now head to the door and wait for the conversation to end. A guy will loot a bookcase near you, sneak around him and enter the area across the way. You will need your gas mask here so put it on. Head up the stairs and knock out the soldier burning the rooms. The last room here contains a guitar (Musician 13/17), loot the supplies and go into the next room for more supplies. Go downstairs and watch the execution of the “diseased” soldier before knocking out the executor for a moral point.

We can now enter the next area where a soldier is setting fire to the station with a flamethrower and another is using incendiary grenades. Knock out the flamethrower guy first and then the other soldier. Shoot out the light above where you came from, now go to the other side of the room. Wait for one of them to bash the door down, then knock out the leaning guy. Wait for the soldier on the right to look away and knock out the soldier that bashed the door down. Let’s go back now to the stand in the middle and under the counter is a guitar (Musician 14/17).

Now we can backtrack to where the guy was executed and go upstairs, through this room and to the right. A body will be dragged through a pipe and here will be an opening to the upstairs part we cleared earlier. Collect supplies and go around to the other-side of the area. You will enter another vent which leads to a new area. This will allow you to sneak up on the guy here and take him out. Now we can take out as many lights as we can up here then loot the railcars. The second last railcar contains a diary on the table (Artyom Diary 26/43), the next railcar contains a safe you can return to later and a guitar on a chair at the very end (Musician 15/17). Go back now and head downstairs, one soldier is in the railcars to the left so knock him out. Another two are facing different directions at the end, go through the railcars then take out the one on the left then right. The alcove to your left contains a safe key if you want more supplies from earlier. The railcars contain MGR on a shelf next to a sewing mission, pick them up for a moral point.

Now you can go through the fire and loot some grenades. Now drop down into the hole and crawl your way forward where you overhear two soldiers talk about Lesnitsky, continue forward to exit this shaft. Watch the guards on your left and wait for them to walk away, pull the wire on the generator and go up the stairs blowing out the light. A soldier has his back to you so knock him out and blow out the light.

Let the officer in the next room talk on the radio then back off so he doesn’t spot you. He will lean over a corpse. Once his conversation is done you will get a moral point, knock out the officer and move on. Go back downstairs and knock out the soldier near the supplies which we will of course loot. Turn off the light and go into the next room, a burning man will run at you however the soldier won’t see if you stay in the entrance. The soldier will move to the left once he does knock him out, now wait for one to move to the fire and another in the back. Hug the left side of the area until you get to the soldier at the back. Knock him out and then the one by the fire.

Grab supplies and move into the next room with four soldiers by a fire. One will go upstairs leaving you to wait for the other three to move away. Sneak past the one on the left and knock out the office upstairs then the one we passed earlier. Now move through the fire and sneak along the left side to knock out the soldier facing where you came from. On the right are some filters, move up and knock out the soldier facing away from you.

Exit out the door to the end. You have two options here either remove your mask before he counts to five (Moral point) or attack Lesnitsky after he counts to five (Negative moral point). If you remove your mask you will get:

Savior

Remove your mask when Lesnitsky demands it.

Follow Anna out and you will reach Hanza before blacking out.

Quarantine (Epidemic)

You will wake up in a quarantine zone, the first part is just a linear sight-seeing walk however we still have a few collectibles to grab and moral points to find.

After Anna finishes talking you will be allowed to leave, listen to the sick father and daughter. Then go down the stairs and listen to the pacing man and masked guard. Go forward and listen to the sick guy facing the wall. Continue on, watch a guy collapse to the terror of the other guy. Then watch the scene to your right, continue on, past the body burning. Another conversation will occur as you continue with an infected soldier for a moral point. A soldier will direct you onward, listen to the doctor talking then follow the guy with the box.

Continue through the corridor until you are in the decontamination area, listen to the two talk and leave the room. Look to your right and a guy on a gurney will be talking, this conversation will give you a moral point provided previous conversations were listened to. Now turn around and look for a desk before joining the large crowd, there will be a diary on here (Artyom Diary 27/43).

Now join the crowd and push through until you reach the exit, you will be waved through and can go upstairs. Feel free to watch the scene play out at the checkpoint before going to the door behind you.

Now to get all those hidden MGR, first move down the stairs a step or two so the door closes. Behind the door is a room with MGR (Forgotten 1/4) on the shelf by a pot, now we can move downstairs. As you move forward to your left is a ladder a little further left is skull sign, the broken window here contains the MGR (Forgotten 2/4). Go around to the left into a red lighted area, if you turn around to the left you will see another railcar with a broken window containing MGR (Forgotten 3/4).

Continue past the fire and to your right is another railcar with a broken window containing MGR (Forgotten 4/4) for a moral point and an achievement:

Forgotten

Now pass the night-vision wearing Hansa soldier to exit this area and meet up with Khan. Watch the exchange with the soldier and the refugee. This beggar needs bullets for insulin, it may take a little bit but eventually he will talk to you. Give him the 20 bullets for a moral point, go to the right and listen to the soldiers talking. The ranger near him will talk to you now, move on and listen to the guys talking around the fire. Now follow Khan again and once he walks off go to the right to listen in on the refugee queue. Then to the left the soldiers talking after that conversation ends turn around and guy in a jail cell will talk to you. Listen to the praying woman now and then before following Khan through the door we will do a 180 turn to find the diary on a desk where a few soldiers are (Artyom Diary 28/43).

Go through the red door where Khan went and in front, slightly to the left on ground near a soldier sitting on a chair is guitar, strum it before he starts to play it (Musician 16/17). Now, listen to the soldiers talk around a lighted desk, provided you listened to all those other conversations you will get a moral point once the guy on the chair starts playing his guitar. Go to the traders and stock up especially on Helsing ammo. Buy whatever else you need and don’t forget to grab the two filters on a shelf to your left. The merchant here sells the Ashot which you can use to get a kill on a mutant in the next level, now follow Khan to exit this level.

Khan

Not much happening when we first come in or for most of this level. Really just follow Khan listening to his long conversations. Eventually he will go through a door and in front is a box with supplies that you can loot before you exit. Follow him out of this area and through three fan sequences where you don’t do anything.

You will leave this area and approach a drop off, instead go forward and a body to the left contains MGR and a diary (Artyom Diary 29/43). Open the gate near the skeleton and Khan will open a door so follow him. Loot the supplies to the left and search the skeleton then follow Khan, dropping down to the right. Follow Khan across the pipes, enter the new area.

There will be about 10 nosalises in this area for you to kill before moving through the door to your right. Search the corpse on the right then exit to follow Khan again. Duck down and drop into this new area, through a door and burn some webs to open the door here. Burn even more webs and search the corpse here. Back out again and help him by burning the webs then pulling the grate apart.

Now you will move through the water section of this game, after you put your lighter on and follow Khan through a tunnel you will see a phone. Answer it for a moral point and an achievement:

Not continue on past some creepy skeletons that stand up, you will follow this path to enter the river of fate and gain moral point. The river of fate will take you to the ending of Metro 2033, follow Khan through this sequence and the start of Metro Last Light. Then through a train wreck where you will see the Dark One plummet with you in tow.

Now you will surface out of the river of fate and follow Khan through a tunnel leading to a place full of corpses. Search the place for supplies, a Valve is sitting on the desk pick it up if you have no assault weapons for the next section. Get on the railcar to end this level.

You may want to play the Khan level from the Chronicles Pack if you have the DLC as that mission takes place after this one.

The Chase (Train to the Future)

There are two ways you need to do this level in separate playthroughs one is for Shadow Ranger and the other is killing everyone for the Bloodlust achievement.[/warningmessae]

For your first run-through you will not kill anyone and thus will be the easy difficulty. On Ranger Hardcore you will kill everyone as it is easier and gets you an achievement.

First enemies are two carts on your right, take out the lead car gunner first then driver so they don’t drop out of view. Take out the car behind, I recommend assault rifle or the Valve you picked up from earlier. Another 2 railcars will show up with 4 men in them, so repeat like before. Keep restarting checkpoint until you are sure you have these 4 railcars.

Now a gunner will show up snipe or riddle him with bullets. You pass to the left of the train and have three guys pop-up. Kill them and watch the scene where you leap onto the train. This part is easy just progress through the train and kill as you go. Cannot miss any of these attacks, use the shelves as cover as you enter the carriage and as always loot corpses for supplies. The second carriage contains the only blue tarped box on your right which contains a diary (Artyom Diary 30/43).

After clearing the carriages, you will get this achievement if you killed everyone:

Bloodlust

Kill all the Reds on the THE CHASE level.

Bloodlust
Offline Game ModeSingle PlayerCollectable

Entering the last carriage will enter a cutscene and end the level.

Shadow Ranger run:

Duck down and let the four railcars ride by. Heal-up and wait for the gunner to pass, you may or may not need to heal up before facing the men firing from the back of the train. You will leap onto the train now.

Wait for the soldier in front to reload and duck down behind a barrel. Knock him out and his buddy to your left. Then rush forward and take down the next two, heal up if needed. Enter the carriage and use the shelves and doorways as cover so you can move up. Knock out the soldier in the next carrier then progress to the next soldier by the blue tarped boxes. Knock out the soldier behind him and use the blue tarp-covered box to your left for cover.

Heal up if necessary and knock out the next two while they reload. A heavily armoured guard waits at the end so rush him when you have a chance. Go back and grab the diary on the blue tarp covered box (Artyom Diary 30/43). Go into the next carriage to end the level.

The Crossing (A Child)

A cutscene will play out of you rescuing the Dark One, once you have control put on your gas mask. The Dark One will run off and you will have to follow her downstairs, looting the corpse as you go.

Loot the broken pipe and kill the Watchman on your right. Follow the path to be ambushed by two more Watchmen. The Dark One will light up the Watchmen, kill the three that run towards you. They will flee, and you can cross through the bus. As you progress a bus to your right has a body near it with supplies. Progress downstairs now and down to the left towards the water. Loot the supply box in front and near the wall is a corpse to loot. Go across the ice, you can crouch walk to the right to avoid the scrimp or just kill it.

Anyway. you will see the Dark One on a billboard listen to talk about clothes for a moral point and go upstairs. Before continuing upstairs, to your right under the bridge looting the corpse for a filter. The dead Demon triggers a moral point and going to the very back triggers two Watchmen from behind and one in front.

You will see a corpse propped up on a pillar, there is a Helsing for you to pick-up to help with an achievement and some supplies. Now backtrack up the stairs, grab some ammo for the Helsing by the entrance and go to the right. Enter this area and see some large stairs to your right, go left around the rubble. Now go up through another entrance and open another door. More stairs that lead to the outside area, hang back and shoot the Demon perched on a fence for:

Van Helsing

Kill a Demon with the Helsing.

Van Helsing
Offline Game ModeSingle Player

You can backtrack for your weapon if you want it back, loot the filters on the ground and the various corpses. Now you can follow the railway track and the Dark One will appear in clothes you will get a moral point for listening. Now once you exit the train carriages by being unceremoniously dumped onto the ice head towards the ship ignoring the pursuing shrimp.

Grab a fresh mask off the body and a diary (Artyom Diary 32/43). Exit the ship past the corpse of a massive Demon, use the bus wrecks to cross the ice. On the other side you will find a corpse to loot and an aggressive shrimp. You can ignore him and run to the left so he goes back in the water. Loot a corpse by the water with a VSV and go up towards a ladder, watch the Dark One for more conversation before climbing. As you climb and reach the end of the level you will get a moral point.

Bridge

After the cutscene ends, go back down the ramp and enter this room for a moral point as-well as to loot supplies. Now you can backtrack and wait for the vision sight to end. Crouch forward, one Watchmen on your left and two on the right. Sneak close and only start crossing when the one on the left starts to move.

Look for a rubble on your right to get up on, wait for the Watchman on your right to pass by and drop down. As you move forward you will see a green glowing room below you on the left, so drop down into it for a moral point and watch the demon carry off a Watchman. Pass to the right and loot the bodies in this room. Now you can go up the ramp in the original room to the left and cross the next section of the bridge.

As you move to another section, the vision will flash, and you can go left and back for a corpse with a filter. Continue forward still hugging the left through the main section, to your right at the end is collapsed room with a filter. Now pass towards the escalator and enter the room before it to the left. In here is supplies and a diary (Artyom Diary 33/43), now leave and go up the escalators.

This area has 3 Watchmen, wait for one to go out the window on the left and another to stare out the opposite window. Cross to the left, hugging the left wall past the booth with a Watchman. Go around the pillar to the left. As you move around to the right, let a Watchman run to a pillar and howl. While he is busy grab the filter and go to the left around the pillar. Crisscross around the next two pillars and you will see a body be dragged off in a lighted area. Go here and the left corpse has a filter as-well as the room near him containing supplies plus the exit ladder.

This ladder takes you to the top section of the bridge, loot corpses and scooch past the feasting monster. Get on the zipline and at the end get knocked off by a Demon. Watch the cutscene and go to your right for a safe and left to exit the level following the Dark One through the tunnel.

You will get a moral point and an achievement for not killing anything:

Rain Man

Depot (Road for Two)

You will start outside so make sure your mask is on, look to the left for a building with supplies. Exit out of this building now and go to the left of this train depot to see a 2-door garage. Keep walking to the end to see a ruined section of this building. Enter here and disarm the tripwire at entrance to the next area (Trap 11/10). You will get a moral point once you enter, loot the box here and leave the building.

Go around the train carriages to the left and once past two head right to watch the Dark One disappear. Go past the carriage on your left you will see building, loot the dumpster on the right of the entrance. Enter here past the locker full of dead rats and you will open a door into a cutscene.

There is a trader here so arm up as literally across the room is a whole bunch of enemies. Once you are done go upstairs on the left and across the walkway. Drop down and head into the train carriage and watch the vision thing looting the box near you.

Go further along the walkway out of the carriage and you will see enemies shooting at the ground, wait for them to move to the back. Go downstairs and across the way to knock out a soldier searching the left area. Loot the supplies and go forward, as you exit this room there is a box in front. Drop down the hole to the right to get a moral point, go forward now and you will reach a hole you can exit out of.

Wait for the light to be away from the hole and go up and to the right into another hole. Use this as cover listen for the footsteps and wait until they start fading away. Poke your head up and once the soldier is walking away move to the right. Use this area to duck into the exit and through to the next area.

Before opening the door put your gas mask on and head upstairs to have another interaction with the Dark One. Open the door and head to the left, in the back corner is a small hole leading to the area the Dark One was in. The diary can be found here on the ground (Artyom Diary 34/43) and wait here for the conversation to finish. One soldier will eventually exit and the other will enter the kitchen, you can duck around the right of him.

Go to the right out of this corridor and knock out the soldier guarding the exit. Now follow the stairs down and to an entrance. Navigate this vent area until you reach an exit and can hide to the right after exiting, then forward left for the next bit of cover while they stare down a hole. Once they leave, knock out the one crouched by the hole. Drop down for a moral point, loot to the right and move forward to knock out a soldier.

Climb up at the end and move far right into a small building with a soldier, you can hide in an alcove to the right while he passes. Then move forward to knock out a soldier to your right, move through the exit to knock out another soldier. Follow this exit to a door you can open into the final area.

Move through the back to the very last train carriage, there is a soldier to the left so go right until you drop down. Watch the soldier back off to your right and go up the stairs near you to knock out a sniper. Go along a bit of metal to your right and drop into the hole, blowing out he light and moving to the right. Drop down where the dead soldier is and move along here until you see the stairs. Once the soldier moves go forward and behind the pillar.

Once he moves back downstairs you can sneak behind him and upstairs, knock him out if you need to. Once upstairs loot the room and open the door at the back to enter a cutscene. If you spare him, you get a moral point and if you kill him you get a negative moral point, either way the level will end.

You will gain a main story achievement no matter your decision:

Dead City (City of Phantoms)

You will enter the dead city and a hole on your right leads to ammo and a trapped room (Trap 12/10). At the back left is another building, go upstairs and open the door in the area here to see a table with a red tablecloth. Behind this table is a desk with a diary (Artyom Diary 35/43) and some shadow people. Exit out into the next room grabbing a filter before exiting out the window into a pre-war playground (Vision 1/7) now listen to the Dark One and get a filter from him.

Now go past the playground area and drop down into a hole at the back of the area. Go through the building to the left and upstairs is a tripwire (Trap 13/10) as-well as a rancher cache. There is another area to the far right with supplies once done go up the ramp to come out on the other side.

Enter the building to the left where piano sounds can be heard and go upstairs to find a scene with a piano (Vision 2/7). Play the piano (Musician 17/17) here once the Dark One has gone for an achievement:

Now exit the building and go right through the tunnel to a new area, behind some dumpsters to your right is some supplies. Drop down and see a ghost car run you down (Vision 3/7) but instead it turns out to be a Watchman. Kill it and listen to the Dark One, then go left into a building and upstairs. You will find an empty room and a vision will occur (Vision 4/7). Loot the corpse and exit, go to the back left of the area now. In here upstairs is a room where another vision takes place (Vision 5/7), the Dark One will talk.

Now go to the window and there is a pallet you can walk across to drop onto the van below. Use the building on the left, go upstairs to your left and disarm the trap (Trap 14/10). Loot the ranger room here for supplies. Exit the building out the way you came, loot the truck and continue on. Do not shoot the blue highlighted Watchmen for a moral point.

Now go up the ladder at the back of this area, do not shoot the Demon or her baby she is protecting up here. Approach the nest and you will aggro the Demon however you will have access to the diary in the nest (Artyom Diary 36/43).

Go downstairs and into the room to the left for a vision (6/7) and a conversation with the Dark One. Now you can leave and drop down the hole for a moral point for not killing the Demons earlier. There is a small crawl hole to the left with a supply box if you need it, drop down the shaft now. Enter the subway to get your final vision (Vision 7/7) for:

Go to the right before the ticket gates for supplies then walk your way through here ignoring the Watchmen that run past. The hole at the end will mark the next level area.

Red Square

You will exit the tunnel now and follow the pathway taking the diary (Artyom Diary 37/43) on the ledge to your left past a corpse with supplies exit up towards St Basil's Cathedral. Let the Watchmen go away for a moral point and get a negative moral pointfor entering the cathedral before they leave. Go towards the cathedral, the bus on the left contains a corpse with supplies and the stairs to the right lead to the cathedral. As you enter to the left some arms will show up and promptly disappear for a moral point, once they are gone you can loot the bodies in both rooms for supplies.

Now exit and drop down the ledge and the storm will hit so rush for the ledge in front for supplies and cover. Once the Dark One starts move follow her from cover to cover to get through safely. Go past the creepy arm scene and ignore the Watchman for a moral point once you go past the dead Demon. Go around the hole in the ground and as you enter the hallway it is filled with arms. The Dark One will lead you out of here so stay close, watch the Demon fly off and go upstairs to the right. Let the Nosalis run off, go down the stairs near where it ran off. Loot the supplies and follow the ramp down, go immediately left where the Nosalis from before continues to run off into. Once through here there is a red door that is open, go left and upstairs into Lenin’s Mausoleum.

Grab the diary by the mausoleum (Artyom Diary 38/43), loot around here for a weapon and supplies in an upstairs area. Exit out the way you came and go through the sewer ruins now, leave the Watchmen alone for a moral point. There is a body in a hole here for a moral point however taking too long will cause the Watchmen to attack.

Go up the debris to the left and enter the boss battle area, entering this area will start Pavel talking and lots of green infrared sights, duck behind the car to the right. A soldier will hop in from the right so knock him out then a little further for the next, one will be in the middle. Heal up and move onto the next in the middle. Now take cover behind the car as before, heal if needed. Look for Pavel’s red beam and shoot him twice so the door below him opens.

This will be bad for you, on Ranger Hardcore I recommend dropping claymores before it gets to this point and then rushing in just after the explosions to knock out the survivors. Heal up and to the right Pavel will shoot down on you. Hit him once or blow him up so he retreats and head up the stairs. Head to where he was and peak left with a frag up the stairs, so he retreats. Exit out the stairs and watch right. Again, use a frag so he retreats or shoot him, he is now done.

Now you have a choice spare him and rescue him from the damned souls for a moral point or more fittingly leave him with the damned souls for a negative moral point. Also get this for killing him on your bad ending:

Anyway, the cutscene will play out walk up to Pavel to grab him out and rescue him, also giving him a filter. Now hop down the ramp to the left to end this level.

The Garden (Level)

Watch Artyom climb the fence then drop into The Garden and once in control walk along this pathway. Loot the corpses as you go at the end go right into a swampy area, remember flags denote safe paths. To the right is a path leading to a hole in the wall on the right into a flooded store area. You get a moral point for entering here and a safe to loot.

Go back out and take out the shrimp in the middle of this area, then go left across a log then a pipe. Disarm the tripwire (Trap 15/10) and you will get a moral point for entering here as-well as some supplies to loot. Kill a shrimp and backtrack to continue through the central area. As you go to your right is a Demon that flies off, plenty of supplies here before continuing on.

Enter the pathway in the other direction and hide behind some roots. The creatures will run by and you get some supplies from behind the roots. Continue forward for a way, there will be a tree forming an entrance across the pathway. Duck to the right to let more creatures run by, grab the supplies to the left of the path before continuing. Go far enough forward to spawn the Watchmen then flame and shoot them until they are all dead. You can sprint past them on your redemption run for a moral point. There are supplies near the wall and the stone slab near the stairs contains some supplies on a corpse. Continue to the right looting corpses as you go. Then crawl through the roots in front watching the scene play out, after exiting there is a diary on a corpse to your left (Artyom Diary 39/43). Loot supplies and prepare yourself for the boss fight, when ready drop down into the boss arena.

Unload a magazine before the first attack and before a stab QTE on her, shoot her again and some Watchmen will come to your aid. The Dark One will reveal a weak spot so just survive Watchman attacks and shoot her back when the x-ray vision shows up.

Soon enough The Mother will retreat, and you can follow her, for a moral point shoot the Watchmen on her quickly not worrying about damaging her and you will get an achievement:

Now leave the area, loot the corpse on the left and move through the tree roots. Go upstairs to the left once at the top is a diary on the guardrail (Artyom Diary 40/43). Move through all the cutscenes and the level will end once the revelation that Dark Ones are in D6 happens.

Polis (Enforcement of Peace)

Watch the cutscene and watch them wave you through the decontamination chamber. The diary is on your left after exiting the decontamination chamber on a brown couch (Artyom Diary 41/43). Keep following Khan and the Dark One through the level, watching all the sights as you pass. You will enter a court and after some talking will enter the mind of Chairman Moskvin. Grab the diary on the right of Miller on a table near a radio (Artyom Diary 42/43) before beginning the battle.

Once the battle does begin for D6, a train full of explosives will crash through the barrier with Reds not too far behind. If you are doing Shadow Ranger, just hang back and let your comrades do the work while you stay crouched on the left. Heal up before you retreat and then crouch until the Reds retreat.

First Reds will attack your front before you are alerted to a train on your left. Now you can get a kill with the Preved, first though shoot the armoured parts of the train that are highlighted red. Then kill some Reds and they will retreat and you will as-well to the final line. On Shadow Ranger just duck down to the left and wait for the train to appear which you have to destroy to progress. At the final line, climb up the platform behind you and over the ledge is the final diary in front of an ammo box (Artyom Diary 43/43). Earning:
