Before we begin I suggest that you download all of the available Game Packs. They're free to download and you get them from the Marketplace.
Straight off the bat you'll get your first achievement--you don't need to do anything other than boot the game up. Once the game has booted up you'll automatically be taken to the Showcase Arcade and unlock the first achievement.
Visit the Showcase Arcade
For the next achievement you'll need to enter "Edit mode" in your arcade. Choose an arcade section and place a decoration inside that section and the next achievement will unlock.
Continue placing decorations until you've placed a total of 5 and you'll unlock the next achievement. For this achievement you don't need to place them in the same section of arcade, but it'll save a little time when we come to the next achievement.
Place 5 arcade Decorations in your arcade
For this achievement you need to fill an entire section of arcade. Continue placing decorations until you've completely filled a section and the achievement will unlock.
For the next achievement you'll need a friend on your friends list who has Game Room too. From the main menu select "Friends," and if your friend has edited their arcade in any way you'll be able to visit it and unlock the next achievement. It's not essential for this particular achievement, but it'd be better if they've purchased and placed an arcade cabinet. We'll be able to get another achievement too.
For the next achievement you'll need a friend who has purchased and placed an arcade cabinet in their arcade. Enter their arcade and select to play it. It wont cost you anything, as you start Game Room with 20 free credits. You can use 5 of these credits to unlock this achievement.
Next up you'll need to go back to your own arcade and enter edit mode. While in edit mode you can place a theme in one of your sections of arcade, once you do so you'll unlock the next achievement. In your list of themes you'll see the same theme in 4 different colours. They do not count toward this or the next achievement.
Continuing on from the last achievement we're still placing themes. You'll need to place a total of 5 unique themes to unlock the next achievement. Remember, those coloured ones don't count!
Now if you did as I said at the start of the guide you'll be able to pick up this next achievement. Just keep placing themes until you've placed a different theme in every section of your arcade, and you'll unlock the final theme related achievement. I know I've just said this twice but remember, those coloured themes do not count toward this achievement.
That's it for "Free" achievements. Now you'll need to buy a mascot from within Game Room. It doesn't matter which mascot you buy, choose one, place it within your arcade and you'll unlock the next achievement.
For the next achievement you'll need to actually purchase an arcade cabinet. Once you've purchased one enter edit mode and place it. Upon doing so you'll unlock the following achievement.
Next up we'll be playing that arcade game you just placed--twice, actually! First round just play horribly and get a really low score. Once you've done that play the game again and beat that previous score. When this second game ends you'll get the next achievement.
For the next few achievements you'll either need an Xbox Free (Silver) account or a friend to essentially boost with. If you're boosting this with a friend then make sure that you both have the game to make it go a little faster. From the main menu select "Challenges," and then choose a friend to send a challenge to. Set the challenge so that it's score related and can only be attempted once. You're able to send and have up to 10 active challenges, so repeat this process 10 times. Have your friend/spare account start the challenge, and then press start and quit. You need to go through them and score a few points and then quit too. The challenges can be a little slow to update but using this method will ensure that you win the challenges. Once you've won all 10 and unlocked the achievement related to that repeat the entire process again, and win another 10 challenges to unlock the achievement for winning 20 challenges. By that point you should now have unlocked the following achievements.
It's at this point that the walkthrough becomes increasingly harder to write because it becomes increasingly subjective. I've made it a point to not assume which games you've decided to play or purchase. I have, however, assumed that you'll be aiming for Gold medals when it comes to medal related achievements. I've tried to lay the next part of the walkthrough out in a logical order, but given the nature of Game Room you might find you're unlocking achievements in a different order to what I've listed in here. If that's the case all I can suggest is to take the information from the walkthrough which you can use. Before we begin the next half of the walkthrough I have a little bit of information I want to explain...
Medal related achievements: These achievements require that you achieve a certain amount of medals. It doesn't matter if those medals are Bronze, Silver or Gold, only that you've unlocked the predetermined number of medals total. If you unlock a Bronze medal and later play the game again and manage to surpass what previously earned you the Bronze medal and you achieve a Silver medal this does not count as 2 medals as you still only have a single medal, it's just a different medal now.
Level related achievements: For each of the level related achievements you'll need to earn medals, and for each level you'll need to earn 20 experience points.
Bronze medal = 2 experience, Silver medal = 3 experience, Gold medal = 5 experience.
If you earn a Bronze medal (2 experience) and later play the game again and manage to surpass what previously earned you the Bronze medal and on this attempt you manage to achieve a silver medal you're not rewarded an addtional 3 experience but instead 1 experience.
Time related achievements: The timer for these achievements only counts time actually spent playing games, and so leaving Game Room running over night will result in it realising that you're idle and the timer freezing. You can keep track of the time you've spent playing games in your arcade by selecting "My Profile" from the main menu.
So with that, let's crack on with the walkthrough. The next achievement up for grabs is just for earning any kind of medal on any game. Once you've done this you'll be rewarded with this achievement.
Now we just need to earn another 2 medals to get the next achievement. Again, it doesn't matter which medals you earn you just need a total of 3 medals.
Next up is the first level related achievement. In order to reach level 2 you'll need to score 20 experience points. That's a minimum of 2 games scoring at least 4 Gold medals between them.
By this point you might have already unlocked a medal of each type. If not play through some games and once you achieve a medal for Point Buster, Survivalist and Time Spender you'll unlock the following achievement.
Win a Medal of each Type (Point Buster, Survivalist, Time Spender)
Up next is another medal related achievement. For this one you'll need to achieve 6 medals.
Keep playing until you've achieved 9 medals in total, and you'll unlock the next achievement.
Another medal related achievement... I know, there's so many right? Well for this one you need to have 2 of each type of medal. Once you have 2 Point Buster, Survivalist and Time Spender medals you'll unlock the next achievement.
Win 2 Medals of each type (2x Point Buster, 2x Survivalist, 2x Time Spender)
Here's another medal based achievement. For this one you need to have a total of 12 medals, once you have 12 medals the achievement will unlock.
Keep earning medals until you've earned a total of 15 medals and you'll unlock the next achievement.
The next 3 achievements are pretty hard to predict when you'll unlock. Seeing as at this point in the walkthrough you should have 15 medals it's fair to assume that by now you should have at least one of the following achievements if not all of them. For each of the achievements you need to earn 5 of that respective medal; it doesn't matter if it's Bronze, Silver or Gold. All that matters is that you have a 5 of that medal. You can keep track of your progress by selecting "My Profile".
The next achievement on this list is for reaching level 5. Now for this achievement you'll need a total of 80 experience points, and this will take a minimum of 16 medals which in turn will require a minimum of 6 different games.
Back to earning medal related achievements now, and you'll need a total of 18 medals for the next achievement.
And now another medal related achievement. For this achievement you'll need a total of 21 medals.
By now you should have recently, or be very close to, unlocking the first time related achievement. For this achievement you need to play arcade games for a total of 4 hours. This doesn't count time spent in the menus or time spent wandering around your arcade; it only counts time spent actually playing arcade games. You can keep track of the time you've spent playing games by selecting "My Profile" from the main menu. Once you've played for a total of 4 hours you'll unlock the achievement.
Keeping on the track of time related achievements I think it's time we work toward the real pain that is "My Blisters Have Blisters". For this achievement you need to play a game for 1 hour continuously, there are a lot of workarounds and easy games to get this on and for the most part it involves a cheap exploit. I'm not going to list every game you can get this achievement on because that'd be too much information. I have, however, provided a list of games you can score easy medals on in the next page. Most of which involve sitting around and spending a lot of time not actually playing games. For example, take the game Pitfall! In this game you're able to avoid any danger by not leaving the first screen. While on this first screen just move once a minute to stop the game thinking that you've gone idle, and after a hour of constant "play" you'll unlock the achievement. Bear in mind that you don't "Need" to do this on Pitfall! There are plenty of games you can use similar exploits on to get the achievement.
And with that we're back to earning medals for achievements, I know... These guys know how to party! Well for the next achievement you'll need to earn a total of 24 medals. Just like the other achievements it doesn't matter which medals you earn. That being said it's better in the long run if you aim for Gold!
Keep earning medals until you've earned a total of 27, and you'll unlock the next achievement. Don't forget you can keep track of how many medals you've earned by selecting "My Profile" from the main menu.
Up next is a level based achievement and for this one you'll need to reach level 8. To reach level 8 you'll need a total of 140 experience. To earn that you'll need a mininum of 28 medals across a mininum of 10 different games. As I said earlier, you may be unlocking achievements in a different order, so don't panic if you're not quite at level 8 yet!
And now we're back to earning medals. Once you've earned a total of 30 medals you'll unlock the next achievement.
If you've been going for the Gold Time Spender medals you should be close to the next time related achievement... If you haven't unlocked it already!
Spend 8 hours total playing games in your arcade
Continue earning medals, and once you've managed to earn a total of 33 medals the next achievement will unlock.
Don't stop earning medals because the fun hasn't stopped yet! For the next achievement you'll need to earn a total of 36 medals. Remember it doesn't matter which medals you're earning, but for the sake of levelling up quicker you should aim for Gold medals!
Next up is another medal based achievement. I swear there aren't that many left now! For this one you'll need to earn a total of 39 medals.
Up next are another set of achievements that are hard to place. You might've earned 1 or more of them already, or you may not even be close, but seen as you should now have earned a total of 39 medals it's safe to assume you should have 1 of more of these achievements by now. For these achievements you'll need to earn 10 of each of the medals for the respective achievements. You can keep track of your progress by selecting "My Profile" from the main menu, and then pressing "X" to bring up a list of which medals you've scored in which games.
Once you've earned all of the above achievements you'll unlock another achievement as a bonus!
If you've been following my advice and aiming for Gold medals you should be on the verge of your next level related achievement. To reach level 11 you'll need a minimum of 40 medals across a minimum of 14 different games.
Next up is another time related achievement. Your progression toward this achievement heavily depends on how many Gold Time Spender medals you've been going for. You can keep track of how long you've been playing games in your arcade by selecting "My Profile" from the main menu. Once you've been playing for a total of 16 hours the achievement will unlock!
Go to Sleep
Spend 16 hours total playing games in your arcade
Now we have the last set of medal related achievements--we're so close! For this achievement you'll need to earn a total of 42 medals. It doesn't matter which medals, but it's better for you in the long run if you just aim for Gold.
Are you counting down the medal achievements left? Not many now! For this achievement keep earning medals until you've acquired a total of 45 medals. Once you have that number of medals the achievement will pop!
Last one now... kind of. There's one more but it's still a long way away at the moment. Of course we still need to keep earning medals to get experience for the level related achievements anyway, but at least you're closing in on completing the game! For the next achievement you need to earn 48 medals in total. You can keep track of your progress toward this achievement by selecting "My Profile" from the main menu.
We're just a stone's throw from reaching level 14 now, or at least you should be if you've been keeping to earning Golds. To reach level 14 you'll need 260 experience, and to reach that you'll need a minimum of 52 medals across a minimum of 18 games.
Next up is another time related achievement. I hate just saying the same things over and over, but provided you've been achieving Gold Time Spender medals you should be closing in on the 24 hours spent playing games mark. Once you've played arcade games for that long the achievement will pop!
The last medal related achievement, I promise! For this achievement you'll need to earn 20 of each medal type. You can track what you've earned by selecting "My Profile" from the main menu, and pressing "X" to see your medals list. Once you've earned 20 of each type the achievement will unlock.
Not many achievements left now. The next achievement on the list is for reaching level 17. To reach this level you'll need to earn 320 experience. To earn that much experience you'll need a minimum of 64 medals which will require a minimum of 22 games.
The last time related achievement is up next. For this achievement you'll need to have played for a total of 36 hours. By this point you'll almost certainly be grinding out the Time Spender medals you have left to earn, and you shouldn't have any problem unlocking this achievement. You can keep track of how long you've been playing by selecting "My Profile" from the main menu.
And here we are, the end of the road... the final achievement you should have left! For this achievement you'll need to reach level 20, and doing so will require 380 experience! To score that much experience you'll need a minimum of 76 medals which will require a minimum of 26 games! Once you reach level 20 the last achievement you should need by now will pop!
And there you have it, you've joined the ranks of the super rich and completed Game Room! Congrats!
