In the main menu you have a few options you can choose from. At first, choose the option for the campaign and the first difficulty. Don’t be mistaken, you have to play through the game on the first difficulty to unlock the second one, so start right away with a new game.
You start off in the toilets, watching your reflection in the mirror and talking to yourself. Obviously you want to ask your girl to move away with you, so head out of the restroom and go to the saloon-doors. As soon as you approach them your grandfather will talk to you and after that you are free to roam the bar. Take a look at the cool selection on the jukebox and afterwards, try your luck on the games on the right of the bar. Play runeman (a cheap pac-man clone) and try to achieve 15000 points. If you’re bad at that game, simply finish a round and if you still got all of your lives, exit and save the progress. Rinse and repeat until you reach the limit. Your first achievement should unlock.
Now, you can actually try for the blackjack machine too. If you are not familiar with the rules, you have to reach a value close or equal to 21 with your cards. You have to have a higher value than your opponent and the first one who reaches 21 wins, whereas the first one who reaches above 21 will lose the game. Here's a short description of the card values: cards 2-10 count that number, cards with pictures (face cards) count 10 (K, Q, J), aces count either 1 or 11 points. Always bet the maximum of your money and as soon as you win, save your game. Try to hit exactly 250, but I do think a little bit above will still count. After you hit 250+ the achievement unlocks.
Head to the bar, talk to Jen, talk to your grandfather, and beat up the goons with the wrench. Now you have to simply wait until you get sucked into the big spaceship and you will get the loading screen with the next achievement. I will also add a video on this chapter for any help. Thanks to
Now you are on the spaceship of the invaders and get carried over a rail. After some time you will see a human alike person which is sabotaging the rails and sets you free. After crawling through some tunnels (gladly your lighter made it with you) and some wrench killing of those small crawler creatures, you will have some small shock at a portal. Circle around and enter through to reach a new area. As soon as you encounter a crossing, go right, circle the portal again and enter that area (be aware that on higher difficulties the health boosters no longer exist). Go on until you reach your grandfather, (sadly he gets killed) turn right and a blue portal gets opened. As soon as you enter it, you finished the chapter and the loading screen appears. I want to tell at that point that each time you see a blue shrouded portal the chapter will end.
Shortly after the start, you will encounter your first armed enemy. Kill him and take his gun (alt fire is sniper mode) and continue through the door. Pass your first force field, jump down the ledge and bring the ball down the ramp (shoot it to proceed through the hole). Enter your first antigravity plates, run up, and use the next one and kill the 2 creatures from up the plates to kill them effectively. Continue on until you reach a metal walkway hanging in the middle of the room. Cross it and head back. A cutscene will now appear (don’t panic, you have to die here). This chapter is finally done which is also the last one where you can’t use the spirit form, so you can die until that point. Keep it in mind for your cherokee walkthrough.
Chapter 4 is quite short; simply follow the instructions of your grandfather, and you will unlock the ability for spirit walk and the corresponding weapon for it. Next loading screen and you are done.
This level is pretty straightforward. The only section which might give you a headache is the one with the moving anti-gravity plate. Stand on it, use the spirit form, and use the switch to get to the other side and head on to the level. The last part is the bar fight and this is also the level where you will discover the first gravity change plates. Shoot them to activate them and after you're done with the bar fight, your next blue portal will appear.
At this chapter you will be actually able to get 2 achievements. Continue through the level until you reach a few of the playing machines from the bar. The one for the poker is broken, so as soon as you activate it to play with it, you will automatically win, netting you an achievement right away.
Apart from that, this chapter might take longer than the normal ones because after you've used the elevator to reach the upper levels, you will find yourself confronted with child ghosts and take a lot of punishment to kill them. After you've killed them you have to go through a door and finally find the blue portal for the next chapter.
You will start this chapter behind a force field. Spirit walk outside and kill every single guard before you open the gate; it’s easier to take them out that way. I won’t go into detail on any level from now on. You should have the mechanics out by now and the videos help way more than words describe. Simply enter the blue portal each time, since from now on, there isn’t much I have to explain.
Here is a little tip from me, or at least a thing I had to do, after the final fight of the queen and you watched the whole credits, (which you can’t skip of course) you will start again at the bar. At some point a portal will open and Elhuit will come through it, telling you that you are needed elsewhere. BEFORE you enter the portal, save the game! It happened to me twice that the game crashed, leaving me to fight the queen all over again. It’s more annoying than hard, but still I guess that there are some out there which rather not having to do the battle again. After travelling through the portal and the last loading screen, the achievement for beating the game will unlock.
This Episode begins are 2:23 in the following video.
Complete "Prey" on Normal difficulty
Now all that’s left is the playthrough on cherokee, and you're done with the singleplayer. It’s not hard, just play along with the videos and do as I say and you should be fine.
Here is an addition written by Lefty24 in our Prey walkthrough forum: There's an easier way to do multiplayer and it takes only half the time. Do TEAM DEATHMATCH first. Team deathmatch wins count as regular deathmatch wins too. Both can be done 1v1. I found the level Roundhouse an easy level, all weapons are found there as well. Portals drop you right in front or real close to the Bar from chapter 1. So that's where you want to meet up for kills except for the leach gun and spider grenades, which are both found in the basement. Set the kill limit to 100 with unlimited time and you can do 4 weapons in 1 game and your opponent can do 3 weapons plus 24/25 kills of their 4th weapon. As for the ranked games, if the person going for the achievement is the host, the other person can quit out and the host gets a win. The entire multiplayer for 2 people to get all achievements takes about 2.5-3 hours. Multiplayer is completely dead, so you will need to grab a boosting buddy.
Below is the original text:
I recommend doing this with 4 players, but actually it also works with just 2. I found that the best map is country house since you have every weapon on it and you don’t have to run around too long to find each other. Basically, your best bet is to start off with the ranked matches in deathmatch first since you only have to win one of them and play 10 in total, leaving 9 to play. Take turns with your friends and exchange kills. I recommend the settings for 25 kills since nearly every weapon will need 25 to get the corresponding achievement with. So, after your 10 ranked matches, you should have your first few weapons and all of the ranked done, so skip to player matches afterwards. These achievements will come first, almost naturally.
Win a Ranked Multiplayer Match
Keep killing in deathmatch to get the following ones as well.
Now that you did 250 kills in deathmatch, you now can switch to team deathmatch. The teams don’t have to be balanced so if you have 8 players, 7 can be on red and the killing one on blue, for example. Keep killing until you reach the 250 mark and by now you should also be done with the weapons which I will go in detail a little further on.
On to the weapons achievements. These will come naturally through your progression on the multiplayer; however, some of them might be somewhat confusing, so I will clarify them here.
The weapons you will start with in each round are the wrench, ghost bow, rifle, and sniper rifle (yes, you start with that one too). You can of course start with those, but since every other player has the same weapons, I would recommend going for those last since you don’t have to search for them. For the weapons, you simply have to kill every player 25 times and the achievement will unlock with your 25th kill. The sniper rifle might cause the biggest confusion since you only have the wrench and rifle. The alternate fire mode of the rifle counts as sniper mode so it also counts as sniper kills. Confusing, I know, but now you know it and you shouldn’t have any problems with those achievements. If you need ammo for the bow, simply collect the souls of the dead.
Score 25 Wrench kills in Multiplayer
Now we will go for the weapons you will have to collect. First off, I start with the toxic launcher which will be the weapon that shoots some green puke-a-like substance. DON'T use the second fire mode for kills, it doesn’t count sometimes.
The worm canon is the one where you suck energy from the wall. Gather up in an area around the ammo and you should be fine.
The auto-cannon is the machine gun with the grenade launcher attached to it. Kills with both fire modes count.
Crawlers are those little green things that crawl around at the floor. Pick them up and kill enemies with them. I have to mention here that if the person you are going to kill is in ghost mode and both forms are next to each other, one grenade will be enough to kill him, otherwise, you will have to use 2 which is a waste in my opinion.
The crawler launcher is the last weapon there is. Do the trick with the ghost mode and have the other players meet at a place where ammo is no problem.
Congrats, you’ve done a full 1000 on Prey. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did and my walkthrough helped you.
