Welcome to the Call of the Sea walkthrough. This game is a first-person puzzle game that is driven by the story. You play as Norah, who has to solve puzzle and unlocks secrets to discover what happened to her husband's expedition. This walkthrough will focus on playing through the game while going for the achievements, so if you wish to explore and immerse yourself in the game a bit more, feel free to deviate from the walkthrough a bit. The game itself is quite beautiful to explore.

Looking at the achievements themselves, they are not too difficult. However there are numerous collectibles to be obtained, and they need to be done in a certain order. If you are going to deviate from the walkthrough, please make sure you grab all the logs and notes first as the game can lock you out of grabbing certain collectibles. With that note out of the way, let's jump in!

Controls

I would highly recommend going into settings and turning the sensitivity up.

I would also recommend turning up the brightness for the game.

Collectibles

As a note, story logs will be underscored, puzzle notes will be italicized and murals will be bolded in the walkthrough. Make sure when you are looking at paper notes that you flip it around to look at the back as well. Sometimes the game doesn't register them in the journal until you do so.

Before you leave a chapter, open your journal and double check that you have all of the puzzle notes and story logs in for that chapter before moving on to reduce backtracking.

You start the game swimming, just keep heading forward and up the stairs until you wake up in the cabin. Turn to the right and next to the bed on a green book is the SS Monterey Ticket to interact with, then turn around and walk towards the desk. Interact with the gloves, the Post Office Receipt Department Receipt to the right of the gloves, and the Orange Journal to the left of the gloves to pick up your journal. On the right side of the desk is a trunk you can interact with, use the dial and enter 506, then click on the square next to the numbers to open the trunk. In here, grab the Island Dream Drawing on the right, the middle is a strange artifact and on the left is a picture you need to turn around to find a Brass Key.

Exit out of the trunk and turn around, interact with the door to exit out and be done with the prologue, unlocking:

When you land, head to the left into the cave and when prompted you can start 'sprinting' (really slow for a sprinter eh?) and go all the way to the end of the cave. Interact with the red board in the water for your Water Unu, then head back out of the cave. Head down the path to your left all the way to the end and interact with the lever mechanism on the right, beside the lever. Turn around and follow the path to a little open spot on the left, where you can use the brass key acquired earlier to open a lockbox with a picture of the stone key location. Backtrack down the main path and look for another path to left where you can see a rock with a flower crown on it, and a flower crown on the ground. Just next to the crown on the ground is a rock you can interact with to reveal the stone key needed to progress forward. Head back to the gate and interact with the lever mechanism on the right, hit both levers to move forward through the gate.

Move forward and you will come across a camp where you can interact with the photo of expedition crew on a box behind the bonfire spot. Keep moving down the path until you find a red board with a hole on the left side of the path and interact with it to find your Mountain Unu. Keep following the path next to the red board and eventually you'll spot another red board slightly submerged in the water that you can interact with to find your Fish Unu. Keep moving forward and shortly you'll see a path go to the right with some planks on the ground, take that path and go forward until you find another red board to interact with which will be your Sun Unu. Backtrack to the previous area and this time we'll take the left path where we'll come to an area with a whole bunch of red boards. Walk straight ahead and up the rocks and look to the right below, where you should see a barrel to interact with, giving you an achievement. Pictures are provided below in spoilers.

Climb down from the rocks and in the middle of the area is a board with symbols that look like ">>>" with a birdhouse on it. That is the only board in the area you can interact with for your Bird Unu. If you are facing the barrel for the achievement, head to the right where you can interact with a lever to open the shortcut back to the starting area of the chapter. Head back to the camp with the bonfire, go up the path to the left and interact with the puzzle pillar. All the Unu's you have collected will be inputted into the pillar by moving the symbols and it's just by logically what would make sense, so from top to bottom you would go Sun->Bird->Mountain->Water->Fish.

Hit the red button and the bridge will form, but before crossing return back to the starting area where you landed and interact with the marks in the sand. It seems someone has made off with your speedboat!

Head forward along the path and you'll come into an opening with a bunch of huts, interact with Tiki #1 in front of the hut on the right. Then interact with the Coat-Of-Arms #1 on the roof of the hut as well. Interact with Tiki #2 in front of the hut just to the left, then enter the hut and on the table in the box is a picture you can interact and turn around with for Forbidden Ritual. Head out of the hut and go to the hut across the path to interact with Tiki #3 in front of the hut and Coat-Of-Arms #2 on the roof before entering the hut, on the table is Diary Entry July 14, 1934. Exit the hut and go down the path right beside the hut and interact with the tombstone to find Tombstone of Roy Granger along with Tiki #4 to the right of the nearby hut. Enter the hut on the right and go to the back, looking to the left to find Coat-Of-Arms #3 on the back of the tombstone.

Head back to the main path and take the path that leads behind one of the huts straight ahead that goes uphill. Enter the room and interact with #Coat-Of-Arms #4 on the table to the right, before heading across the planks to the second hut and interacting with the telescope in the background to see the Lady Shannon Shipwreck. Return to the first hut room and on the table next to the coat of arms we just got is a Tiki Symbol Order, click on the spoiler below for a picture of what it's supposed to look like.

Turn to the pillar inside this hut and using your journal, match the totem to the finished product, or you can look at the screenshot below:

Interact with the secret compartment to go into the secret room. Turn to the left and go as close to the statue as you can and behind it you can see a photo on the ground, interact with it to unlock:

Grab the stone plate off the altar to your right and head back down the hill, and to the stone wall near where we first came into the area to put the plate into the hole. Hit the grey diamond button in front of you to take the elevator up, and head into the tent to the right. Open the box and look at the papers to read Diary Entry July 14, 1934 and Diary Entry July 15, 1934. On the next table, examine the two pictures in the middle for photo of hand in your log as well before exiting the tent, then use the ladder to go down into the pit in the centre of the area. Interact with all the black eyes on the wall until you have three cutscenes happen, then walk through the tunnel area interacting with the murals and Old Ritual from the papers on the left, and you should unlock:

Keep going through and hit the lever to lower the bridge, go across and up the ladder to the huts at the top of the hill once again. Go down the hill and back to the elevator where you should see RAW FURY painted on now. Interact with it to unlock:

Head back up the hill, go into the second hut and interact with the box on the table to open the lens puzzle. Hit the lever on the left side to open it up. The numbers on left control the X axis of the puzzle and the right numbers control the Y axis. Hit + or - to make circles bigger or smaller. The solution is as follows:

  • 3-3 + two times
  • 3-5 + one time
  • 3-1 + three times
  • 5-3 + three times
  • 1-2 + two times
  • 1-4 + one time

Grab the lens and put it on top of the telescope behind the table, look at the Connected Stars Puzzle Solution in the telescope. Return to the pit to do the final puzzle of the chapter, the pressure plate puzzle. Interact with the gold star, then go to the middle and hit the star connected to the golden one. Head to the middle on the right side, take the right path to the outside, then left to the next outside star which should be the short path. Go outside again to the outside star on the long path, then back to the inside star, then immediately back to the outside star.

Interact with the pillar that pops up to end the chapter.

Swim forward until you enter a cutscene, and afterwards awaken on a beach. Move forward towards a small shore-wrecked board that is upside down next to the bigger ship and look out towards the water and the terrible storm. Enter the ship through the ripped hull and there will be some crates on your left. Circle around the backside of them to find a record nestled on the ground that you can interact with to unlock:

Go up the ladder in this area and go left when you can to see a machine straight ahead, you can interact with its levers. Imagine they are numbered 1-2-3-4 from left to right, interact with them 3-2-4-1 and then interact with the lever next to the machine. Follow the wire from the machine to another machine on the wall where the walkway splits, interact with the lever on that machine as well. Keep following the wire out of the ship to the last machine which, after interacting with the lever, should bring light to the nearby camp. Head forward and in the left tent, in a box next to the turned over barrels with holes in them, you can find a can of sardines you can interact to unlock:

There is another machine next to the overturned barrels, so interact with the lever before heading to the tent across the camp. Enter the photo development area (should be the red lit area) and look at the hanging photos for possessed doctor and strange footprints. Enter the cave area at the back of the camp that was lit from the previous machine and enter the only tent there. Directly underneath the projector is a Note about De Witt stabbing Frank, next to the projector is a weird translucent cube which gives unknown structure and on the wall behind the unknown structure is a calendar. Underneath the calendar, just to the left on the table are two notes on Harry's findings, and finally on the table is a box you can open to look at the piano symbols. Interact with the piano and play every single note, then exit out of the piano screen and interact with it again. Play the keys in the order of the screenshot below to unlock:

Reset the slides all the way to the left then exit out of the tent, and out of the cave back into the main camp area. Here you will want to exit right and head up the mountain side, looking for a bridge on the left to cross over eventually. As you come out into the opening, head to the right, and all the way down the stairs to find an indicator of the sea levels. Head all the way back to the projector and move the slides until you mention that the slide is the right one (should be the lowest level tide without the diamond being empty). Interact with the projector screen to get the right tide level indicator. Exit out of the tent and take the stairs to the left, and go left all the way up to find a mural that you can interact with. Head all the way back to the ship and enter the far room that we neglected earlier, interact with the floating stones contraption for the next puzzle.

Interact with the knob on the far left to turn the machine on. You will have to use the three different dials to make the three rocks on the right be on same level, and have all the green bulbs lit at once.

Head out of the ship and around to the back of the ship, on the middle table next to a hammer and crate is a note with how Harry Activated the Organ. Head up the nearby mountain path and back across the bridge to the left. Back in the open area, interact with the stone formation looking out to the ocean to open up the new puzzle. You will see seven symbols and some black goo as well, if the black goo is underneath the symbol it means that it is open and if it is grey it means it is closed.

Head back into the tunnel we came through and there'll be a symbol on the left side with one dot. Interact with it to make sure the lower portion of the symbol is empty/black. Turn around and go back towards the puzzle, but coming out of the tunnel turn left and look to the left where you should find another symbol. This one has two dots, again interact with it to make the lower portion empty/black. Keep following the wall to the next symbol, which looks like two triangles going sideways. Interact with it to make the symbol on the lower portion so the top is grey. Go down the nearby stairs to find a symbol with four dots and interact with the symbol to make the symbol on the lower portion so the top is grey.

Head back up and across the area to the top of the stairs, where another symbol with three dots can be found. Interact with it to make the symbol on the lower portion so the top is grey. Head down the stairs to find the last symbol we need to interact with, which is two triangles going vertically. Yet again, you need to have the lower portion empty/black. Return to the puzzle and it should look like this:

Turn around and interact with the pedestal in front of you until the whole pit in front is blocked. Swivel back around and interact with the button on the puzzle, a bridge will form and you'll also unlock:

Head across the bridge, following the path around and interact with the button to be taken up an elevator. Interact with the box to read Harry's Third Letter, then hit the four buttons on the stone next to the box and finally the middle one. You can now follow the path back down, straight through the tunnel and through the newly opened path ahead to finish the chapter.

Head up the mountain and when it forks, take the right path to find a mural. Keep following that path to the end and you'll find a mural to interact with, at the same time you will also unlock:

Backtrack on the path and head up the stairs, there are three towers in this area with murals on them that you need to examine (afterwards you should have four murals in your journal notes). Head down the middle of the area where the wooden planks are and you should see some markings you can interact with in the empty pool. Return to the toppled over tower that had the mural below and click on the top diamond (it would be the left one if the tower was standing). Head back up the stairs and at the first tower you come across, click on the bottom diamond. At the next tower, click the right diamond and finally on the last tower, click on the top diamond. Return to the middle of the area above the pool and you'll see a microphone you can interact with, afterwards turn to the right and hit the lever on the machine before turning around and interacting with the microphone again, unlocking:

Grab the crumpled up note next to the recorder beside the machine and head back to the last tower we interacted with. Head down the stairs and walk close to Frank's Grave, before walking to the left of the grave past the hut on the right a bit, until an audio cue hits to grab some journal notes. Go back into the hut and interact with all the documents on the desk, as well the box on the right for some more journal notes. Exit out of the hut, turn left and take the path all the way to the end where you'll find a water wheel where the next puzzle is. Circle around the machine to the other side and press the green button until the circle closest to the water wheel has the hole in the bottom. Go around to the lever closest to the water wheel and interact with it, now repeat those steps for the next two levers making sure that the next lever and hole you line up is closest to the water wheel.

Just to the left of the levers is a panel with one light lit, you need to have all the lights on. Whenever you interact with a light, the status of the light itself and the right and left ones beside it changes. It's simple enough to hit two buttons. From the light bulb, hit the buttons two spots over to the right and two spots over to the left. Refer to the picture below if needed.

Head into the nearby tent and lower the two switches, then head back to the hut and hit the lever on the machine in there. Climb up the nearby tower and hit the lever up there and you'll end up falling down off the tower, oops. When you awaken, open your journal to unlock:

Head back to the microphone and interact with the lever on the machine next to it, before interacting with the microphone itself. Head through the temple doors and interact with each of the five murals you come across and before you take the elevator, there are some boxes to the right and on the left box is a note on the ancient elevator. When you get to the top, interact with the four murals. In the tent area to the left of the sleeping bag is a note on transformation and on the sleeping bag itself is Harry's fourth letter. On the box to the left of the table is a note on the words, and on the desk you can find notes on eternal life, and symbols to words.

Look at the box in front of the left most mural to find a note on liquid. You can find water animal painted on the wall just to the left of the stone door, a complex pattern on the door itself, a broken bottle in front of the stone door and finally a note on life on a box to the right of the stone door. Go to the left mural and interact with the stone below it until the golden indicator is at the top, move to the right and on the next mural the golden indicator should be on right side. For the other two murals, the golden indicator should be on the bottom.

Head through the newly opened door and follow the path up to an exotic drum set. Interact with it and hit the centre drum first, then you'll have to follow the rhythm of the drums as you go along. Here is the order you need to click them, with L being the left drum, C being the centre drum, and R being the right drum.

  1. C (to activate the drum set)
  2. C (the wall should show some purple images)
  3. L-R
  4. C-R-L
  5. L-C-L
  6. R-R-L-C

After rockin' out, head forward and interact with the palm panel to finish the chapter.

Swim forward, and slightly to the left interact with another palm panel to be transported back to dry land. However this won't be for long, as you follow the linear path to another palm panel you will be sent back underwater. Swim towards the opening and examine the device underneath it, as the current is currently preventing you from swimming through the hole. Hit the button on the right and as the liquid hits the golden part of the device, hit the button on the left and the liquids should meet in the middle reversing the current. Ride it and when you are able to, swim forward and up to find your next palm panel. Head forward to enter an area with a bunch of stone huts.

Head to the right and ahead you can see a mural which has two interaction points on it. Head down through the tunnel and you'll find two pillars with five sets of hand marks on them you can interact with for your journal. Return to the entrance and interact with the column to the right of the steps to have it lower. Afterwards, turn around and enter the hut beside the path going further in front of you and interact with the sink for a vision. Exit the hut and go towards the mural, taking the path going upwards and go all the way to the top. Enter the house on the right for another sink vision and interact with the column here. Head back down and along the way, enter the hut on the right for yet another sink vision. Interact with the column outside the hut as well. Head back to the entrance, but in the last hut on the right with white scratch marks outside is yet another sink vision as well as a column for us to interact with. Exit the hut and go up the nearby path and into the hut on the right for another sink vision. Interact with the pedestal that is on its own peninsula, making the two columns we investigated earlier lower.

Head back down to the entrance to the area, to the left and through the tunnel back down to the column. Interact with the pedestal which will lower the water level, revealing a palm panel you can interact with. Swim forward and to the left, where you can see a current flowing against you through a stone circle with the current changing device. Ignore it for now and swim straight down. Enter the hut nearby to find another sink vision. Afterwards, exit the hut and swim past the pillar in front of you and look left, where you should see two statues you can interact with. If you swim past the left statue, you'll see some bright orange coral to the left and swimming up to it you can find a tiara on a rock to interact with, unlocking:

Swim back to the statues and just beside them to the right if you are facing them, is a mural you can interact with. Keep swimming to the right and on the first pillar you come across under the current circle, you should find a current controlling device that you need to fix. Interact with the middle part to have it flip to the top side and as before, interact with the right side until the liquid hits the golden part. Then interact with the left one to fix it before continuing to the right and you'll find another mural you can interact with. From this mural, if you turn around and swim forward and to the left, you'll find another hut with the last sink vision for us, unlocking:

Exit the hut and head back to the current changing device we ignored before. Interact with the middle part to have it flip to the top side and as before, interact with the right side until the liquid hits the golden part, then interact with the left one. Turn around and swim up to the stonehead just in front of you and interact with the golden button on the left side of it to have an opening appear below. Now quickly swim through the current to get through the area. Swim through the tunnel until you come across another palm panel you can interact with. Keep moving forward and head to the right, interacting with the other pillar that was lowered from earlier to have the water level go down even more.

Turn around and head forward on the path through the tunnel. Keep going until you come across another palm panel. Swim down below and invert the current by interacting with the middle part to have it flip to the top side and as before, interact with the right side until the liquid hits the golden part. Then interact with the left one to swim through, unlocking:

After your fun ride, swim up and interact with the palm panel to once again be on dry land. Head forward and interact with the mural on the left, then go up the nearby stairs to find another mural at the top. Go down the stairs and head up the ladder on the other side to find a camp. Walk to the left and open the box to find Harry's fifth letter, the important symbol notes on the board and interact with the map and all of the notes on the map and on the nearby bench. Finally, interact with the Teaharoa's note on the bench beside the fireplace. Head down the ladder, and go all the way to the right to find a panel for the last puzzle of the chapter.

You will need to have all four liquids hit the centre at the same time for this panel. You need to play around with it a bit, but I hit the top button and waited about a second and a half before I hit the button on the right. About two second and a half seconds after you hit the right button, you want to hit the bottom one. Finally, after three seconds you want to hit the left button. It'll take a bit of fine tuning, but those are the benchmarks which you should look at for completing the puzzle. A boat will come to the landing, so get on it and go for a nice boat ride which will finish the chapter, unlocking:

Walk forward to the archway and interact with the syringe on the ground, to the right of the column. Head through the archway, towards the stairs and interact with the blood stain on the floor as well as the gun, before heading to the camp on the left. Interact with the notes pinned to the hanging cloth and open the box to the left to the tent for a letter to open the sanctuary. Head back to the stairs, and facing them, go to the right and you should see a mural you can go and inspect. Keep heading to the right to find another camp, and in a box on top of a crate you can find a picture of Harry sleeping, creepy. Head up the nearby stairs and interact with the fish head statue, then return to the archway and interact with the column here to open the door and unlock:

Head through the door and scattered on the exterior of the room are four different constellations you need to interact with as well as another mural at the back of the room. In the centre of the room, head down the steps and interact with the pentagram shaped symbol. Head back up the steps to the entrance and you'll see two raised platforms with buttons you can activate on the left and ride side, which cause stones to roll out. Refer to the images provided below to open the constellation doors.

You will need to use the first picture for the first number to figure out which rock to interact with. Then you need to look at the second picture to figure out which symbol on that rock to press in order to open the constellation doors. The first door to open is 1-4 and 3-4 (so rock 1 and symbol 4, then rock 3 and symbol 4) and the constellation door on the right will open. Go through the door and interact with the mural on the right, before continuing on up the stairs to find another fish statue to interact with to get another mark.

Head back to the pentagram puzzle and clear the constellation if it is there by redoing the combo 1-4 and 3-4. Then do 1-5 and 4-5 to open the next door on the left. Head through the door, but be sure to interact with the mural before going up the stairs and interacting with another fish statue. Then head back to the pentagram puzzle and clear the constellation.

The next door combination is 1-2, 3-2 and 4-4, then the other door on the left should open up. Head through the door and go down the stairs, interact with the mural on the left before going through the palm panel and swimming forward. Interact with another palm panel here and then interact with the fish statue ahead.

Head back to the puzzle pentagram and clear the constellation once again. The next door combination is 1-5, 2-4 and 3-5. Once you go through the door and go up the stairs to the right, you'll see the last mural in the game, unlocking:

Head back down the stairs and go towards the panel in front of the water, where you'll have to create a path forward. First you want to interact with the middle black diamond, so that the path indicator in front of you is facing towards you and to the right. Make sure the black diamond on the right makes the path indicator on the right pointed towards the middle path indicator. Then hit the gold button on the right. Refer to the image below for reference:

Head to the panel on the right, which controls the white path indicators. Interact with the left white diamond and look to the left, the path should be going left to right. Refer to the image below for reference:

Interact with the middle white diamond until the far back path indicator is facing you. Move the right white diamond until it is facing left and right and hit the golden button. Refer to the image below for reference:

Head back to the black path panel and interact with the middle diamond until it points towards you and to the left. Interact with the left black diamond until the far back left path indicator is pointing towards you and to the left. Refer to the image below for reference:

Head back to the black stone panel and interact with the left diamond until the path indicator is pointing towards you and to the right. Hit the gold button. Refer to the image below for reference:

Follow the path for another fish statue and then head back to the pentagram puzzle and clear the constellation. Put in 1-1 and 4-3, then interact with the new constellation in the sky to unlock:

Move through the door and down the stairs, interacting with the black ooze in a stone looking picture frame. Continue forward and as you come into an open room, you should unlock:

Go through the door and keep following the steps and path as you figure out what happened. Make a save at the end before you open the door if you want to see both endings. Enter the door and choose to accept your fate and leave Harry. Go through the door and walk forward until you see a ring around the path, head left on an invisible path right where the ring is (refer to the images below if you're having trouble finding the path:

Walk up the path and inspect the key to unlock:

Keep walking along the main path and you'll swim forward a bit to enter a current. Once you come out, just keep swimming forward to have the game fade to black and unlock:
