There are 3 achievements up for grabs on the first level and this will be your first experience of just how easy this game is. First off from the main menu select to play new game, opt to play on the easiest difficulty and when prompted choose the flame icon weapon. It's also important that you select to play with "free shot" as you'll want to be able to move while shooting.
Once you've done that the NPC will alert you that the natives are under attack and you'll be whisked away to save the day! Work your way through this first level, flick your flamethrower around to ensure you're killing all of the enemies efficiently. Keep playing through ignoring the items enemies are dropping until one of them drops a flame icon, at this point crouch down on it and you'll automatically pick it up, now your flamethrower will inflict double damage and make short work of any enemies (even bosses).
Not long into the first level you'll come across a long green stalk sticking out of the ground. Stand in line with it and fire your flamethrower up. If you picked up the extra flame icon then you should beat this boss in a few seconds and unlock the first achievement of the game! Now I'm not going to go on and on about it during the walkthrough but remember to save often, this for example would be an ideal time to make a quick save so that if you die you don't have to play up until this point again. You have 3 slots to save on so make use of all of them, there's nothing worse then getting stuck on a bad save point!
Shortly after that you'll come across a pyramid that you need to climb. Once you reach the top you'll encounter the next boss and just like before... if you've picked up the double flame combo you'll make very short work of him. You should defeat him before he even gets the chance to land a single attack on you. Once you've defeated him the next achievement will unlock!
After defeating Bravoo Man you'll slide down the side of the pyramid and have to work your way through a forest. Keep your flamethrower going to avoid taking damage from the robotic arms extending from the forest and remember to save! Not long after you enter the forest you'll run into the final boss of this level and again; if you have the double flame combo you have nothing to worry about. Lay into him and shortly after the battle begins you'll defeat him and the next achievement will unlock.
Defeat Pinky Roader in the Ancient Ruins.
First off here's your heads up! This next achievement is missable. Don't worry too much though because there's a nice little workaround! Play through this stage making saves here and there until you reach the part of the level where you're fighting enemies on passing trains. Once you reach this point keep an eye out for Colonel Red, he's the commander looking guy dressed all in red and he'll be at the front of the train. The moment you've beaten him make a save game because the next boss is due to appear and we'll need to reload the save a fair few times. Now, this boss has 7 different forms and while playing on easy mode you'll only ever fight 3 of them. The form we're looking for is called Crab Force and the earliest he'll appear is the third stage of the battle, so defeat the first 2 forms and hope that he appears on the third section. If he does appear make a new save so that if you die you can reload from that point, if he doesn't appear quit out, reload your save and try again.
Provided you're using the double flame combination you'll have very little trouble taking this boss down as you'll obliterate his health. One of the possible second forms of the boss is the only one that can cause a little frustration; he appears as what looks like some kind of buzzsaw. If he does this you'll just need to do what damage you can and then dodge his spinning attack by jumping from side to side (double jump to do this).
This stage has 2 bosses but only 1 achievement. You'll first fight Colonel Red on top of a helicopter, he's pretty easy to beat, just dodge his bombs and take him down with your double flames. Once you've defeated him Orange will jump up and you'll have to take him out, it's a good idea to make a quick save now to avoid beating Colonel Red again!
It's hard to avoid taking damage from Orange and so the trick to this fight is taking him down as quick as you can; something that isn't a problem with the double flames. Try to avoid falling off the edges as this will inflict a fair bit of damage!
His attacks include sending a wave of energy across the chopper. To avoid this don't try and jump over it! Press "A" while holding down to swing down below it. Next up, he'll sometimes charge across the chopper to shoulder barge you. To avoid this move just try and jump over him or swing below him. His last last move is the easiest to dodge. He'll jump up and grab hold of the helicopter blades. Keep moving and when he jumps into the air from that just avoid the elbow drop! While doing this keep the heat up by damaging him when you get the chance. Once you've defeated him the achievement will unlock!
Getting to this next achievement can be really frustrating and I know I said I wouldn't go on and on about it but it's very important that when you're in the Dice Palace you save after a good roll and reload if you get a bad roll. Feel free to keep reloading your save until you get the roll you want, just be prepared for how long this could take!
As I've said throughout the walkthrough, if you're using the double flame weapon combination nothing will give you much trouble, this boss included. The boss only has a handful of attacks, all of which are incredibly easy to avoid. When you get the chance move in and blast away with your double flames and he'll go down in no time leaving you 1 achievement better off!
OMG 11 Bosses
Complete the Dice Palace and defeat Black Beat Stepper.
Next up we're taking on Colonel Red again, he's a super easy boss. You fight him in 2 forms, the first of which he'll fly round trying to drop bombs on you. Just avoid this and keep damaging him with your flamethrower. Once you inflict a set amount of damage he'll change things up a bit by trying to kick you but you can easily slide under. He'll also shoot fireballs at you that you can dodge easily and he'll occasionally shoot a single bullet at you. This is a little harder to dodge. Leave it until the last possible moment and then jump over it. If you jump too early the bullet will curve up and hit you.
There aren't any achievement gained during this stage. Carry on playing and making use of the save feature because the next stage is the last one in the game! Here's a tip from NeoSPEEDER from our walkthrough forum!
I've noticed that having double fireballs on Stage 6 actually makes the stage tougher. What I found is if you mixed it up a little bit and had 1 fire and 1 lightning power, this makes the stage (for some reason) much easier, even when it comes to fighting the bosses.
Last stage now and this is just a stage of boss fights. I'm only going to highlight the bosses involved with achievements and by now you should be familiar enough with the game to beat all these last stage bosses without too much trouble. Before we get started, remember to save! it'll come in handy on this stage more than any other. You can make quick saves during boss fights too, if you plan on doing this make use of all 3 save slots so that you don't accidentally screw yourself over!
First up (achievement wise) is Black Fly and he's very easy. You'll make very short work of him if you're using the double flame combo. After inflicting a set amount of damage he'll fly up and drop balls of light on you but you can easily avoid these. Eventually he'll appear again and shoot a column of light out beneath him. Avoid this and flame away. You'll defeat him in no time!
Green is super easy to take out; it should only take you a few moments to kill him off! When he appears lay into him with your double flames and you'll devastate his health. Use the ledges to avoid his attacks if you need to and when he stops attacking go in and kill him off.
Make a save straight away. As soon as that's done run and stand beneath the boss (he's in the middle of the room, a little in the background). Run up to him and just flame straight up. You should be able to take down a nice chunk of health before the battle even starts. When he starts to move quickly make another save.
From here you need to damage the gems floating around the screen. Make sure to make saves throughout this boss fight. This will ensure that you eventually beat him. As always make use of all 3 save slots so that you don't screw yourself over!
During this fight he'll use an array of different moves, all of which you can avoid with a little practice. The important thing is to use your flamethrower on him every chance you get. It'll drain his health and before you know it the fight will be over and the achievement will pop!
If you're having trouble beating this boss, take a look at the solution for an excellent guide on how to dodge his attacks! Bear in mind though that the solution might not be using the same weapon set up as what I've suggested. A different weapon set up will lead to a longer boss fight which in turn will lead to more frustration!
You can sit back and relax now, you'll unlock the next achievement by watching the ending of the game. Once the scene ends the achievement will pop!
Finally the only achievement you should have left now is for starting the game up with each of the weapons. You'll have already done this for 1 of the weapons on the main playthrough of the game and so start a new game and choose 1 of the 3 remaining weapons, once the level starts press start and opt to quit. From there it's just a case of repeating the process until you have the achievement.
And with that you'll have now completed the game! Nice work!
