While Starfield still reigns supreme at the top of the table, a full month after its early access release date, it's Payday 3 that continues to surprise us. Despite competition from Call of Duty, Fortnite, Minecraft, GTA 5, and all the other usual games we see in our top five, the new-ish Xbox Game Pass addition Payday 3 is managing to hold on in there at fourth place. Starbreeze claims that Payday 3's matchmaking issues, which have been a nuisance since launch, are now fixed, so it's possible Payday 3 could hang around in the top five for a little while longer.

Moving on down the table, we see that EA Sports FC 24 has climbed the ranks into 8th position, following its full release, and that new Xbox Game Pass soulslike Lies of P has taken a somewhat dramatic tumble from 6th down to 12th. Cyberpunk 2077 has also seen a rise in the number of players, thanks to the launch of Phantom Liberty, with CD Projekt Red's RPG moving up from 19th to 14th. With EA Sports FC 24 being the new football game on the block, unsurprisingly, we see FIFA 23 running out of steam, slipping from 10th to 17th.

As for Gameplay Chart debuts, Ghostlore has entered the chart in 25th place, thanks to Xbox Game Pass Quests, whereas new free-to-play battle royale game My Hero Ultra Rumble has punched its way into 29th position. Xbox Game Pass Quests are also responsible for Batman: Arkham Knight reentering the table in 31st place.

At the bottom, we see Diablo IV in the danger zone at 38th place, while Mortal Kombat 11 and Battlefield 2042 have managed to make some gains to avoid dropping out of the table completely.

Looking ahead at new Xbox games, Forza Motorsport, Assassin's Creed Mirage, NHL 24, and new Game Pass title The Lamplighters League are all on the horizon. Could any of these make it into the top 40 next week?
